First and foremost, PLEASE READ EVERYTHING!

The site for this blow out meet will be Bezdek's on the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels. The dates are June 8th, 9th, and 10th which fall on a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The planned schedule will be:
Friday..........Set up camp, hang out and have fun.
Saturday......Wake up and have a huge breakfast consisting of breakfast tacos with all the fixin's. Load up coolers to take down river. Climb on a bus (with only our group) and head up river. Get dropped off and enjoy the float which is somewhere between 4 and 6 hours depending on river levels. Arrive back at campsite for a huge dinner at the site and another evening of hanging out and having fun.
Sunday........Wake up and have another huge breakfast, hang out for a bit, pack up, and head home.

Campground information is as follows:
1. The cost is 10 dollars per night / per person with a two night minimum.
2. Tube rental is 14.00 dollars plus tax per tube but I've been in talks with the owners and they tell me they'll do better on the tube prices so long as we have a group of 20 or more.
3. Cooler tubes will be given free of charge provided we have a minimum of 20 people in our party.
4. No pets are allowed at the campsite.
5. Power is available at all campsites but you MUST bring extension cords with a minumum length of 100'.

Additional pricing rules are as follows:
1. Anyone choosing to come Saturday morning to make the float and leave Saturday night is welcome to park at the campsite for free so long as they rent from Bezdek's.
2. Anyone planning to do the above but wanting to stay past 7:30 pm on Saturday night must pay an additional 5.00 dollar charge but won't be asked to leave at any specific time from that point forward.


All of the above information is basic but should provide a starting point for deciding if it is something that you'd like to participate in. I've been to this place many times and it is easily one of the nicest, well kept sites on The River. Tents can be pitched as close as 10 feet from the water which is nice. The showers are ONLY available from 5:00 to 9:00 because they are being meticulously cared for at all other times. Children are certainly welcome but give your decision careful consideration. As with all river trips, there is an element of danger associated and those that aren't strong swimmers should take caution.

This is going to be a great deal of work to put together so I'm asking that only those who are truly interested and believe they could make this to add themselves to the list. I'm also asking that all people send me a PM in order to ensure that I answer all of the questions they may have. The dead line for getting in on this event is April 14th. Anyone who doesn't commit by this date will not be able to camp but may still come for the Saturday float.

We must pre-pay for the event as well in order to reserve the campsites. Campsites will be reserved based on the amount of people in our party. I've already ensured that the campsites issued to us will all be in a single line with no separation between any of our parties. One night must be paid in advance for EVERYONE who's staying and since there is a two night minimum payment (whether you stay the second night or not) the minimum payment per person is 20.00 dollars. However, again ONLY one night of payment is necessary per head to reserve the sites. The second night will be paid directly to them upon arrival. That said it is very important that when asking to have your name added to the list, you MUST also add "wife, girlfriend, etc". Whatever applies in order that I may get a correct head count for booking.

Lastly, since I'll have to pre pay for the first night for every person staying in order to reserve the site, I'm going to set it up in a Paypal fashion. Anyone interested can get my PayPal information via PM. Once I have received PayPal payment for anyone that you choose to pay for, you will officially be added to the list in the public forum. Food concerns will be worked out at a later date once the head count is confirmed.

All the parks have banned open containers as well, If you look drunk the cops WILL hook you up. Don't know If these issues concern anyone or not, just so you know. Also last year it was extremely dry here and most people had to float the Comal river because the Guadalupe was so low you had to walk alot of it. Just a heads up in case that happens this summer, which isn't looking good so far. I'll stop by for sure to meet all of you and put some faces to these names. If you need any insider info. let me know and I'll do what I can, the river is about 5 mins. from my house.

Well its still up in the air right now, it was passed now they're recalling it. Who knows what will happen. Hopefully by June they'll have it figured out.

I understand that they should contain belligerency, but, to limit you down to 6 cans, wow! Is that per person, or couple, or what??

per cooler, the problem is people who live on the river (including 3 city council members) are tired of people pissing on thier lawns, throwing trash on thier property and just doing stupid crap, I can't blame them. If I spent that much money on a house and lot I'd want a little peace and quite too. I think they should up thier officers in the water, people can can still get trashed and then float the river. Limiting alchohol on the water might help a little but thats not gonna stop it.

The issue of limiting alcohol on the river has been debated for years. I'm aware of the potential and I'd like to think that the crowd we'd draw for this event would not consider it a limiting factor. Furthermore, there is NO limit at the campsite for those that choose to indulge just as they wish. I agree with the comments about being angered by such things assuming ownership of property on the river. Again, I don't think the type of crowd we'll attract will be peeing on the sides of people's homes. Fun is always welcome but ignorance is not.

FYI: the last time we went the grand kid #1 was 10mos old! They have life vests for them. We coated her with SPF 1,000,000, she road in my lap the entire way and loved it. Got pretty good at holding my beer for me 'till mom saw it and got mad.

Any ideas (locations)? You can look up motels in New Braunfels on the net, thier are alot of them along IH-35 in town. Like Motel 6, La Quinta, Days Inn, etc. I wouldn't advise staying @ any place called Bobs Inn or similar, they're run down shacks. Anyone needing more info. don't hesitate to ask.

THE NEW RULES DO NOT AFFECT ANY PORTIONS OF THE RIVER OUTSIDE THE CITY LIMITS. Our campsite is completely outside the city limits, as is every inch of the river that we'll be floating. This issue will NOT affect this trip in any manner. I will be tightening up the funding with Bezdeks on Monday (April 16th). If you're interested in this please contact me very soon. If you're undecided there will be space for about 3 or 4 remaining couples all the way up to the day of the event. Should anyone want to bring a TT or a pop-up, please notify me as your situation must be handled differently due to parking issues. No bigge. They just need to know in advance. That's all for now.

Iv heard of a few cars & a bunch of tents floating down the river.

I saw some footage on the news @5 in New Braunsfel.... one of the low river crossing roads was under water....and it was flowing FAST...they mentioned something about tubers....but my daughter was running off at the mouth.

Probably a good idea to call the campground ahead of the departure from Houston. ABC 13 reported this evening that with all of the rains the Guadalupe River will not be open for floating or camping for 10 days!

However, river conditions can change quite dramatically in 24 hours and therefore, WAAAAAY too early to call.

I cant wait. I even got a letter from my home owners assn. telling me to get my popup out of the front yard.

The river is running at almost 5000cfs today!! Kinda funny but don't sweat it. This is they're "cash crop" time of the season. They'll have that puppy capped in time for our trip. They do it every weekend for the river goers so that business doesn't suffer. I'd like to see what it actually looks like when water is spilling over at 5000cfs vs. the usual 450cfs that it is usually running when we float.

don't forget to get the tubes with the a$$ protectors on it... shouldn't take too long to float the river if it's moving that fast.

I think the water will be up enough to not worry about scraping the bottom, besides, I'd have to keep "Draining" my Tube (for some reason) lol

I'ts not as big as Robin's (Jody's Fiance'), but it pulled great, and was easy to set up.
