: Dealerships in Richmond, Va
Low4Life 03-05-2007, 09:05 PM Does anyone have any feedback on the Nissan dealerships in Richmond? I did a dealer quote request through Edmunds and got a response right away from Pence Nissan, haven't heard from either of the Victory dealers. Any help you can give me is appreciated. Thanks
VATechTitan 03-06-2007, 08:04 AM Well it was a year and a half ago (light-years in a car salesman's life) but I requested quotes from Pence, Victory (Mechanicsville), and Pohanka (Fredericksburg). I live in Prince William County. As I recall, Pence gave me a good, but not great, quote. I recall Victory gave me a really good number, but I knew they could do better, and they hemmed and hawed about that and stopped short of giving me the precise number. Pohanka just flat out played mind games with me. I crossed them off my list quickly. So I can't really recommend any of the three, but if I had to, I guess Victory was serviceable.
Again, as I said in an earlier post, you may want to try Passport in Alexandria. I know a lot of people do buy there, and as I said, I got a great deal there. Sure, it's a long way from you, but you owe it to yourself to at least see what kind of a deal they'll give you. You've got nothing to lose. The way it worked for me is that I did a lot of homework, got a bunch of quotes via email, and after a week or so of that, I emailed Passport a super aggressive price, and to my amazement, they took it!! Happy hunting.
jjaye 03-06-2007, 09:51 AM Don't forget about Dominion Nissan in Colonial heights!! I bought my '05 Titan SE crew cab for $25 grand!!
Low4Life 03-06-2007, 10:01 AM Thanks for the help. I was trying to stay local, so unless Passport or Dominion give me a killer deal I can't pass up, I don't see myself going to them. But it also depends on what happens with Pence and Victory.
VATechTitan 03-07-2007, 08:16 AM You probably already know this, but if you can wait until the very last day of the month, do it. Then make your offer a really really lowball offer. Sensible, but LOW. Like invoice-rebates-holdback-an $x factor (just for grins). I just did that last month on a new Camry Hybrid (a high demand vehicle no less) and I was shocked at the bites I got. Totally shocked. Sometimes you get lucky, and these salemen need to make their quotas, and they will do things not humanly possible to sell you a car. Anyway, FWIW, I was just a bit shocked at how true that old adage (buy at the end of the month) really was for me.
Happy hunting.
Low4Life 03-07-2007, 10:17 AM lol yea i know those little tricks. it's gonna be a little while anyway, but yea I plan to wait till the end of the month. End of year works too if you just want the previous year because the new year models come out. i.e. at the end of this year get a 07 for cheaper because the 08s are out.
Low4Life 03-08-2007, 04:50 PM what about CarMax? has anyone dealt with them? Reason I ask is I found a Titan there that I like for a great price, $20,998.
Shiftyb 03-08-2007, 04:56 PM Well, it depends on the miles/trim level/year
With so man y rebates and dealer discounts out right now, it may be better to get a new one with no miles for a few bucks more.
The interest rates are better on new vehicles also.
Low4Life 03-08-2007, 04:59 PM it's 2004 SE 4x2 off-road with captains chairs, cd player, tow package. 39k miles. i've been looking at new ones but saw this one. once i look at it in person and drive it I'll know better whether I'll keep looking or not

Well, Im not gonna say stay away from the 04's but there are certain things to look for.
There is TSBs for the brakes on 04's. They replace the rotors and pads.
Also, the rear ends are different due to failures.
If you look at this truck make sure its had all TSB's done to it and look under the rearend and see if the diff cover is steel or aluminum.
If its aluminum, the rearend has been replaced.
Mine was replaced as well as the brakes.
Low4Life 03-08-2007, 05:24 PM thanks for the heads up. i will definitely check those things when i go to look at it. I really want a 06-07 but this is a pretty good deal, but we'll see. is that the only things to check out on the 04s? also does the same go for the 05s?
Shiftyb 03-08-2007, 05:32 PM Well, Im not too sure on the 05's. I think some of them had bad brakes too but not all.
Read this:

ok sorry, Im at work and I couldnt give you a good answer right then.
The brake TSB that Im referring to is the BRake Judder....
I just noticed they charge you to look at the full TSB.....that sucks. THey didnt used to do that.
Anywho, if you get a later build 05 the brake judder issue shouldnt be an issue...
Maybe someone else can chime in here and give me a hand answering anymore questions.
I cant believe they wont allow you to read the TSBs without paying for it.
I guess too many people were fixing things on their own or out smarting the service shops with their knowledge of the tsb.
Low4Life 03-08-2007, 08:21 PM that sucks, but thanks for all the help. i think i'm going into the dealer sunday to see what they can do about getting me the Titan I want in my price range
Low4Life 03-14-2007, 05:04 PM Well I got an email from the internet sales guy at Pence saying he found a Titan with the options want and gave me a price that even beat the price I got from Carsdirect.com. So I'm pretty happy about that since it's a new Titan and that's what I really want, not a used one. Just thought I'd give an update.
Shiftyb 03-14-2007, 08:36 PM Sweet! Im glad you came through on that. Yeah new was the way to go.
Congrats!
