Can anyone please explain to me exactly how airbag suspension works?

I want to lower my Titan but I don't want to purchase the ONLY lowering kit that's out there right now (Street Beat) because I heard the ride is horrible. It looks like the ONLY option I have right now to lower the truck is to have an airbag setup installed.

Does this mean I can adjust the height of the truck at anytime?

Is the ride comfortable? Better than lowering springs?

Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

1. Yes. If u get the switches then you can adjust the heights of each bag. They make different kind of release valves Slow, Med. , and Fast.

2. The people that I know that have air bags say the ride is a lot better.
Like riding on AIR.

Yeah, I don't want or need fast valves because I will not be showing off my truck. I just want something to lower the truck and give it a good ride.

In fact, I'll probably just keep the truck at the same level most of the time anyways.

Is there an airbag system that lifts the vehicle???. That way it could be lowered back down to fit into my garage. That would be great.

Not sure on how much of a lift that u can get from the airbags. Once Titanhauler gets around to installing his I'm sure he'll test it for us....

Are you talking about suspending the entire vehicle using airbags or just for load leveling purposes? There is currently no "Air Ride" kit available for the Titan that I know of but that doesn't mean one couldn't be fabricated.

AIM Industries seems to have a large selection of airbags and bracketry. You would need an air strut for the front of the Titan and a 4-Link conversion in the rear to suspend the Titan completely. I would imagine you could get 6 or so inches of travel/adjustability in front and probably 10 or so in the rear with the proper bags. Bottom-Line though, it's a custom job.

Now if you just want rear load leveling ability. Firestone and Airlift both make a bolt on kit for the Titan. However, I am having issues right now with the Firestone Kit. I will post in my original thread once I have modified the kit to fit.

Looks like they have a kit for the Armada and QX5 but not the titan yet.
