I'm a little dissappointed after spending $30k+! I have 2,000 miles on my new truck and it's started making the slight ticking sound from the passenger side of the dash or engine compartment. I've read many of the threads related to this common problem and the solutions. What is the "negative battery terminal" repair? Where can I find a description of this quick fix/procedure?
I'm anticipating the dealer saying that the problem is "normal", but I don't buy it. Toyotas don't make that sound! Thanks for your help.

I haven't experienced it, but it's my understanding that it's a fairly easy fix. It's in the How To section Here: http://www.clubtitan.org/postt432.html
Welcome to the club!
Yup 4.99 (ground cable) and 1/2 hour should do it. I did this mod not even having this prob. just in case it ever happened. Good luck and toyos dont have the endurance engine either so look on the bright side! :D

I was reading up on this over at the other site yesterday. One member mentioned that a Nissan engineer from Japan was brought in to troubleshoot this issue on an Armada that was in the shop several times for this problem. What the engineer determined was that the #8 injector was noisier than the rest, and guess what the 'fix' was......yup, a heavy gauge ground wire from the block to the battery neg. Also, they added some sound dampening material to a 'weak' area on the pass side firewall. Gee, I wonder where the Nissan engineer got the idea of the ground wire from.....hmmm. I wish he had explained exactly why it works, at least for most Titans/Armadas with this problem.
I think it is a matter of adding ground mass to that point on the back of the head. Some have noticed that after removing the wire on the battery side only, that the tick stayed away. Another dealer is simply adding heavy washers at the ground point to the head, and same result is seen.
For me, it took adding the ground cable and reseating all the spark plugs to get rid of the tick.

I had a ticking noise on the passenger side and it ended up coming from the front fender on the pass side. Took it in and they adjusted a bolt and the noise was gone but it took about 4 visits.
