Check your fluids...ALL of them. The dealerships usually have people doing the pre-delivery inspections that really have no business doing so. I went over my PDI sheet and of course everything was checked as ok.

I went over my fluids and here is what I found.

Engine oil: Added 8 ounces
Transmission Fluid: Just a touch low, not enough to be concerned about.
Brake Fluid: Added 4 ounces
Power Steering Fluid: Added 6 ounces
Coolant: Added 16 ounces
Differential Fluid: Added 8 ounces

So don't take for granted that it was actually done, check it yourself. Your vehicle may thank you for it later.

That's good advice to check things. When my father bought his
1960 Pontiac there was no air filter in the filter housing.

LOL Oh my gosh! OK, add that to the check list. LOL

I guess I would have found that out because the first thing I did was throw the Fram airhog filter in that I got from Jettech.

I checked all the fluid levels before I left the dealers lot, except the trans, and all them were fine. Finally checked the trans level a few days later after I researched why they had a bolt on it...lol.

Did you find out it was to help eliminate people from just pulling the dipstick and dumping tranny fluid in?

They were trying to keep people from accidentally putting the wrong fluid in. By making them take the time to take the bolt out, it will increase the chances of seeing the tranny fluid warning stickers everywhere.

Shailey does your XE have a incab air filter or do you have to buy that filter and install it...

Actually we are about to go to Chattanooga (my office and a couple of other places) and I am waiting on my wife. I know if I start, she will be ready as soon as I get all of the bolts out. LOL

Man I wound up not going to Chattanooga, in fact I never left the house. I decided I didn't want to finish my paperwork and my wife wanted to go shopping. So I kept the monsters and she left. When she got back, I mowed, weed eated, blew the grass off my sidewalks and driveway and plopped my big butt right back down in here. LOL

I even fell asleep for an hour while I was still logged on. If it wasn't pouring outside, I would go out and do it just because the kids are driving me insane! LOL

how do you check for all those different fluid levels, other then the dipstick??

shailey

You use the dip sticks with the vehicle on level ground. To check the differential fluid, you have to use a 3/8" extension on a ratchet and remove the UPPER filler plug on the rear of the differential pumpkin.

On the brakes, power steering and coolant you look in the reservoirs and you will see a couple of places to gauge it by that says "Max" and "Min" and also one that says Max Hot.

I did the fluid check the day after I brought my Titan home. The truck was ice covered the day I brought it home so I held off checking everything at that time.

When I checked the radiator fluid I popped the radiator cap and promptly got showered with radiator fluid. The system was still under pressure. Yuck! Yes, I know you can check the fluid in the reservoir but I like looking in the actual radiator. At least I _used_ to like looking in the radiator.

You are welcome. You will know if the diff fluid is at the proper level by sticking your pinky finger in the filler hole and the level should be just about even with the bottom of the filler hole. Make certain you give the truck time to cool off before sticking your finger in there. It could be a little warm. LOL

No it did not have an in-cabin filter. I had to install one. Sorry I forgot to answer this thread a long time ago when I actually did it.
