For any boaters out there that may be considering a new motor, have I got a deal for you!
In Jan. of 2004 I bought an unsold 2002 28 ft catamaran deck boat. The dealer had rigged it with a new 2001 Mecury 115 H.P. fuel injected, 4 stroke, long shaft. I put the boat in the water on mothers day, 2004. We rode it for 1 1/2 hours (was cold and windy) and tied up to the dock at our boat club. I had the end slip. 1 week later, I got a call from the boat club president to get down to the docks. When I got there, I see my new boat listing sideways at about a 60 degree angle. We had gotten high fast water from rains, and the boat club up river from us had broken apart. I had 2 30' sections of dock ram the side of my boat basicly ripping the left side pontoon out. The insurance company totaled the boat, and in exchange for me disposing of it, I kept the motor. I took the motor to the best marine mech in the Pittsburgh area, and told him to pickle it.(change drive fluids, and fog engine for storage. It has been at his shop, on an engine stand since. I actually kind of forgot about it, as I bought a new deck boat with a I/O.
Anyway, if someone would be interested in this motor, I will let it go for $4,000.00. As I said, it has 1 1/2 hours total run time on it, so it is basicly new. What I am asking is even below NADA for a used motor of this type!
