: procomp 6" ?'s
SMOKEDYA2 05-01-2005, 11:30 AM lookin for some info from people with the procomp lift installed.
how does it ride?
did you install it and how was it?
do the stock sized rims fit the truck after the lift?
was there anything else you had to buy or do to your truck because of this kit? like breaklines or cutting anything?
are the coilover shocks worth it?
is the basic kit wiwthout coilovers still a nice ride?
do you need to get new shocks for the back afterwards?
whats the cheapest price kit you found and where from?
thanks for all the info from anyone with this kit, im about to break out the cash for one and want all info good and bad about this system.
quiksilver 05-01-2005, 12:05 PM smokedya2,
Did not install lift but the tech at 4 wheel parts said it was very easy kit to install. Stege 2 coilovers are not worth it in fact they were downright horrible! I had two sets in mine before I gave up. They need to reengineer that coilover replacement. Stage 1 kit rides great. I went with the mx6 shocks in the rear. Yes you need new rear shocks. Yes you need aftermarket wheels if you want to run larger than a stock tire. Don't run wider than a 9" wide rim. 8 " wide is preferable for clearance and 4.5 to 5" of backspacing. I ended up running the axis wheel "titan" 20 x 9". 325/60/20 terra grapplers. I did some trimming but clearance is now great!Stage 1 kit leaves option open for any oem replacement shock that come available for titan. Hope that helps, I am very happy with the kit now that I got their coilover out, and used the spacer and my existing coilover assembly(stage 1)
Caltitan 05-01-2005, 12:22 PM I've seen three Titans with this lift now and they all looked awesome. Two were at the SO Cal Meet and the other one was this past week in Irvine (nice red Titan) who I had a quick owner discussion with at a red light.
SMOKEDYA2 05-03-2005, 11:03 PM quiksilver,
thanks for the look out on the coilover replacements. now the front shocks that are there will still be used correct? i already have aftermarket rims but the backspacing is the same as stock and the rim size is 17x8.5 (stock was 17x7.5). will this rim have any clearance issues when stage 1 kit is installed? those MX6 rear shocks, are they offered as an add on to the kit for a few more $$$ ? how high do they lift the rear with the blocks? you dont have any drivetrain noise or clunk in the driveshaft, rearend, or transfer case?
sorry for the 20 questions but i just want to make sure i get the best kit for me out there. any info you have is a big help, thanks.
LinkNuc 05-11-2005, 11:55 AM I think all the questions were answered at PARAGON, man does Finkle have a beast!
Calhoun687 05-12-2005, 09:00 AM The kit is a great kit but there are a few things that will have to be done.
1. the coilovers are not woth the money dont waste your money stick with stock and wait for prerunner gregs coilovers or DRE to come out soon
2. carrier bearing relocation kit from pro comp mandantory no matter what anyone says at the shop that you may have it done, everyone that has this kit did have to relocate the carrier
3. helper springs for axle rap they work
4. if you go to 35" tires you will have to buy a chip to help with the mph change and the MPG difference other wise stick with the stock tires and you will be fine
the ride is very very close to stock a litle rough at first but steeles down after about a week of driving and smoothes out this on stock coilovers
you will loose a little bit of torque because of tire size but if you get the chip that should help but at 824.00 it may not be a option for you right now
I will tell you i love the truck and people stop and stare and come up and ask me about my truck allthe time
the tires i installed were 315/70/17 BF Goodrich all terrain 35" tire the rub just a little and you loose a small amount of turnig radius but all a great kit
I am looking into an additional 2" lift because of the tires being so large
hopefully this helps
SMOKEDYA2 05-13-2005, 05:07 PM thanks for the info calhoun687, but linknuc is right. i was able to see a fellow titan owners truck with the procomp and 35's on it. it was finkle from TT and i got all types of pics and info and even got to watch him wheel it around Paragon offroad park.
you say you absolutly need the carrier bearing relocater kit? finkle didnot have one on his truck and it sounded fine.
Calhoun687 05-13-2005, 05:09 PM mine was lowered 1 1/2 inches
the minute that just got on it a little bit hard at start it would slip
SMOKEDYA2 05-13-2005, 05:11 PM mine was lowered 1 1/2 inches

what would slip?
the kit lowers youre carrier bearing 1.5 inches
Calhoun687 05-13-2005, 10:49 PM it felt like the rear tires were breaking loose but it was the carrier bearing making the noise
SMOKEDYA2 05-15-2005, 05:40 PM calhoun687,
do you have the procomp lift or the fabtech? if i remember reading one of your other posts, you have the fabtech right.
Calhoun687 05-16-2005, 07:48 AM it is the fabtech with the procomp carrier relocation bearing kit
Fabtech does not have a relocation kit
SMOKEDYA2 05-16-2005, 06:52 PM does the fabtech kit come with rear shocks and all the nessacary brakelines and hardware?
how much did you get the fabtech for?

I Have the Pro Comp Lift installed by a Nissan Dealer, I would not install this lift myself or recommend it, It took A Nissan tech eight hours with pro tools and a lift. Rides close to stock. I have the Rancho stock coilovers with spacers and the es 9000 rear shocks. There was no cutting or welding involved. I am running 35x12.50x18 Mud Grapplers with 18x9.5 ProComp Extreme Alloys I had to do minor fender trimming and eventually will go with Fox Coilovers and Deaver Springs. Hope this helps. See ya
Pharcyde_Titan 05-01-2006, 09:47 PM I also have the 6" ProComp lift. I love it. Unlike most everyone here, I went with the coil overs. I have not had a problem yet, and it has been lifted for 2 months. I also did not use the carrier bearier relocation kit, although I have it just incase I needed it.
I am running 22x9.5" wheels without a problem. I am running a 35" tire also. We had to trim the inner fender a little on both sides, but no clearance problems.
The ride is better then stock in my opinion, but i have never had a lifted truck before.
supadupaj 05-01-2006, 10:53 PM it is the fabtech with the procomp carrier relocation bearing kit
Fabtech does not have a relocation kit
I had my fabtech kit installed about 2 weeks ago. Fabtech does have the relocation kit. I know this because I have it on my truck..
Just to clarify the carrier bearing relocation kit is for 4x2 only correct??
Thats the info I got from my research.

Yes, that is correct
tinner 05-11-2006, 12:17 AM This may be a stupid question, but what and where is the carrier bearing? I may be having this problem, but am not sure what the carrier bearing is to know the difference.????
Never mind... just saw the above post regarding the carrier bearing being for two wheel drive....
Dafridge 05-15-2006, 02:37 PM i got the stage 2 kit. no problems. i talked with head guy at procomp for editorial reasons, and he sent me new coilovers with redesigned insides. rides great so far. haven't taken new shocks wheelin yet. but highly recommend gregs traction bars with any/no lift. they rock and make titan's takeoff better. will post results of new co's
