: Viewing posted pictures
OldSalt 05-02-2005, 09:38 PM Maybe I'm just a DA, but whenever I click on a pic that someone posts, I get a new window like the pic wants to resize itself, but nothing ever loads. Meaning that when I click on a picture, a new window opens up, but the full size picture never loads. It does this to me on others pictures and on the ones I post. Am I missing a setting or something in my profile? I'm on a 56K dial up, so I know that large pictures won't load fast, but they never load at all. Anyone have any ideas, besides going to broadband or DSL (which ain't available yet in my neck of the mountains)? DSL ain't available; broadband is, but I refuse to pay the cable company all of that money...
Kopperking 05-02-2005, 09:49 PM I get the Same thing, and I have DSL.
I "Thought" It may have something to do with a pop-up Blocker, but when I diable it, the Pic Still won't load.
That's a Q? I've Always had, but just got used to it.
PeaceKeepr 05-02-2005, 10:05 PM I'm victim of this too.
M4CK you got some explaining to do!
I have IE Firefox and Opera and I have never been able to reproduce this problem. I wish I knew what it was. It is definately something on your side guys. It has to be a setting in your browser. Maybe play around with the options some and let me know if anything changes.

RockyMtnTitan 05-02-2005, 11:27 PM I'm using IE and my ISP is Comcast and have same problem. Haven't tried any other browsers. Wierd.....
docopharm 05-03-2005, 12:24 AM I tried changing every setting I could think of in IE, no luck. Switched to Firefox and haven't had a problem yet.
Caltitan 05-03-2005, 01:00 PM I use IE v6.0 on Windows XP and do not have the picture loading problem. I also have the Norton popup blocker but have it set to allow popups on this site. I would think maybe there is an IE setting conflicting with the site. Are any of you running spyware protection? Maybe that is blocking the pics.
OldSalt 05-03-2005, 09:58 PM Cal, I'm running XP with IE 6, and I'm running System Works 2005, letting it's Intrusion Detection engine run in place of XP's firewall. I am also running XP's popup blocker, but I don't get the alert for a popup when I try to view a picture. A new window opens, but the picture just won't load. The IE flag in the upper right corner freezes, and the status bar indicates done. I realize that sometimes the flag will freeze while a page is loading, but I have waited up to 5 minutes for a pic to display, and it never does. As for anti-spyware, I use AdAware but I don't actively scan while I'm online. I run a manual scan weekly. I'll try enabling popups for the site and see what happens. BTW, what email client do you use? I use Outlook 2003 (from the Office 2003 suite) and I'm wondering if the graphics blocker in Outlook might be the culprit...

OldSalt 05-03-2005, 11:00 PM M4CK, how do you like the Mozilla-based browser? I've read occasionally that it has stability problems, but most everyone seems to like it. I just wish that you could uninstall IE; I wouldn't hesitiate to try Firefox then.

I can't say enough about it. I really love Firefox. I do not even open IE anymore unless I am checking to see if something I have been working on for the site displays correctly. Then I close it and forget about it again. Firefox is great man. Try it and you will think the same thing.

Kopperking 05-03-2005, 11:16 PM Fire fox wont allow me to organize my Favorites, or other personal settings, besides it locks up occaisionally and causes conflicts with IE.
It does work good as a Browser.
I don't like its "creature comforts"

Thats odd I have never had Firefox lock up on me. I did have that problem with IE before I quit using it.
what do you mean by it wont allow you to organize your favorites?
Under bookmarks did you try Manage Bookmarks. not sure what you are meaning here.

Kopperking 05-03-2005, 11:38 PM I've used IE for so long, I'm used to it.
So, to use Firefox I have to "Re-learn" a new Browser.
I'm too lazy.
I'd rather Spend my time HERE!!! LOL!
Just my personal preference.

FlatBlack 05-20-2005, 10:49 AM OK, I have done everthing short of changing browsers. I am not going to do that. Mack, we have a problem with the exchange on our picture peviewing on the site. Maybe an invalid page switch or something as benign as an error in a code line that send MS IE to go blank? My kids puter has IE 4 and it won't load the pictures to preview either.
I can save the pictures to my computer and print them from the site, no preview. WTF. I started having troubles just after you guys did some updating about 2 months ago. I am perplexed. I can't seem to find a fix in any of my books for my side of the trouble.
Just a funky quark we may have to start dealing with, I guess. Or just force :hypnotiz: everone to start using Firefox
Trogdor 05-20-2005, 11:39 AM I've never been able to get the pictures either - I've tried on three different computers and none work (all using IE).
I've never liked Firefox though I've used it a decent amount on my brother's powerbook. Maybe the mac version sucks? Anyhow, I don't know what could be wrong.
rexracer 05-20-2005, 12:18 PM I have the same prob. I use IE 4 at work (don't ask) and IE 6 with xp pro at home. No pix, just an empty window. Never have a prob. with video, though
Red Alert 05-20-2005, 04:48 PM Well I have to chime in on the side of Mozilla Thunderbird and Firefox. I was constantly having problems with IE. Switched to Mozilla and never looked back. I use them as standalone products and don't use messenger or any other contact program. I prefer stand alone products as they are less complex.
I have IE installed so I can take advantage of MS Update function and for the occasional sites that only deal with IE.
johnpoz 06-22-2005, 12:51 AM I get the same error message using Avant Browser (IE 6 engine) on three different PCs. I don't believe the issue is on my end however. The source code contained in the popup window that is supposed to have the large image is blank. Here is one of the URLs:
http://www.clubtitan.org/modules.php?name=Forums&file=download&id=2570
And the source code from that page:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<HTML><HEAD>
<META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"></HEAD>
<BODY></BODY></HTML>
Notice, there isn't even an IMG link in there? It has to be something wrong with the module.php script.
I can view the images using FireFox... but I don't want to. :-)

Thanks John.
I KNEW it wasn't on MY End, but couldn't PROVE it!
Because I can see the larger pics on another Forum, just not Here.
jrw396 06-22-2005, 07:37 AM Just for the record, I've been on the site since March and have never been able to open a picture from a post. Use IE - XP operating system.
Interested to see what the solution is.
