I bought my Titan used. I drove it nice never abused it and noticed out of my passenger mirror that my rear tire was wobbling. I took it to Luther Nissan the dealer I bought it from just a few days after buying it. A mechanic looked at it and they told me the axle on the left side was bent. I went round and round with them to fix it. I told them if it's bent it was bent when they sold it to me. Again, I drove this truck very nice. After an hour of arguing they setteled on paying half. I was still out $300.

No its not. If an axle is bent, 999 times out of 1000 it is clearly from abuse. An axle just about will not bend without taking a HARD hit which means it is not defective. Even if you did not do it, there is almost no way to prove it and you should have noticed it on the test drive.

If you noticed the tire was wobbling in your rear view mirror and did not feel wheel hop from a warped axle, something does not sound right. Here is why. The axles fit into splines at the outside of the axle and connect at the carrier unit, that thing should have been about jumping up and down due to the light weight of the rear of the truck.

Drove smooth. The nissan mech. could not believe it drove smoth. The tire wabble was very minimal. And yes it is BULLS**T because they stated the check out the truck completly which they didn't.

Doing a safety check on a vehicle does not include driving down the road while looking in your rear view at the rear tires. If it drove smooth than yes it could be easily missed. We have people leave the lot everyday and have mishaps on the way home which in turn they come back and try to blame on us. I AM NOT saying this is the case with you.

Here at the Dealer that I work at, we probably would have taken care of you. Depending on your attitude. Sorry it happened to you but i would have included my salesman as well as the used car manager in with the service dept diagnosis. It will not be warrenty. But you might have gotten more satisfaction out of it.

So you paid for the axle and they paid for the labor. Not good but not bad.

I would be concerned about what bent the axle. That is not an easy thing to do. If you bought the truck from a dealer insist that they provide a history of the truck repairs. It could have been involved in a wreck. You need to know about that.

I have sold about a half dozen in the past year. I now stock them. A good friend of mine, who I know would be honest with me, said he hit a pot hole very hard and then noticed the vibration. His was bent bad.

Where is the axle bent? If it is bent where the axle joins the flange,
could it be crooked by defect & not actually bent. I had that
situation on a 1967 Mustang. The flange was not straight on the
axle shaft & nothing ever happened to the car to cause that
situation. I believe it was that way when I bought the car.

I have been a Service manager for years and I can tell you that this was probably honestly overlooked if in fact you bought it that way.

As a member already said, nobody drives checking the wheels with the rearview mirror.

Also, I have seen so much over the years that I will never buy a used vehicle. the fact that leasing is majority these days and people severely abuse and not maintain their vehicle makes me KNOW never to buy a used vehicle.

At my dealership, BMW, maintenance is included for 4 years / 50K miles, so its FREE, AND PEOPLE ARE STILL TOOOOOOO LAZY to come get maintenance done. I can't tell you how many lease cars are turned in at 45-50K miles and never had the oil changed!!!!
