: squeking noise.
mudfinder 05-04-2005, 01:46 PM this morning, yesterday, last week, everthing was fine. today, later in the morning on my way to school i started hearing this squeking sound comming from the passenger seat area. it's not the seat, not the console nor the door panel. the sound seems to be coming from between the seat and the console area. i can't figure out what it is. any ideas.
jrw396 05-04-2005, 07:44 PM I'm just looking at the reply's, because I can't find my squeak either. Sounds like it's coming from the same place.
I found my pass. side chair squek it was comming from in between the seat and the console there was a plastic cover that was rubbing on the metal piece thats inside sorry dont know the name of it, but its the piece that reclines the seat on the inside try to reposition the plastic piece. The outside has the same piece also if that helps any.
JetTech 05-04-2005, 09:02 PM Squeeks and rattles can be a real headache. There are two things I've done in the past to cure them both. One is to start ripping and tearing, checking for loose bolts....screws...anything you can find.
The other thing I've done is to have someone else drive your truck while you start pressing and feeling around on panels where the noise is coming from. It's easier to locate them if you're riding shotgun..You can then install the sticky foam pads to the area that is squeeking if it's plastic rubbing against something. Good luck because they surely can be a PITA!!!
mudfinder 05-04-2005, 09:38 PM when i parked my truck, i couldn't find anything. after school. i decided to just lay the passenager seat back a little. the squeak is gone. besides that, the only squeaks and rattles i have is the crackling sound comming from the plastic glass over the gauges. i was going to take in to the dealer but decided on not to because i didn't think it was worth my time. and that ticking sound comming from the passenger, it does it less now. my cousins have a bodyshop, he told me that the plastic in the truck is breaking in so be patient.

The plastic surround over the gauges is a real common one. I removed that piece of trim and installed sticky foam pads (you can buy them at Wal-Mart) at the 4 legs that stick out behind that panel. If you remove it you'll see what I'm talking about.
As far as the seat goes trogdor has the same problem with his. His passenger seat back is loose and the trim at the hinge points is rubbing. He's going to take his to the dealer because of the loose back, at which time they'll hopefully shim or install foam padding at the hinges.
I've never heard of a squeek going away or breaking in.....but if he works at a body shop I'm sure he knows more then I do about it.
mudfinder 05-04-2005, 09:50 PM jettech, is it easy to get into plastic glass over the gauges? where are the bolts to take that piece off. i would like to do it myself. it'll give me something to do at work.

What's squeeking is the plastic surround trim rubbing on the clear plastic cover for the gauges. Just grab the outter surround and give it a firm yank, it will come off. You'll have to move it around a little bit to fully remove it but it will come off. Just be REALLY careful because all of the trim in our trucks is easily scratched.
mudfinder 05-05-2005, 07:13 PM i just called my dealer to take it in for the seat, and crackling sound from the plastic glass, and the ticking noise from the passenger side glove box area. the knucklehead that i was talking to said that i'm the first with the crackling sound and the ticking. that they have never heard about it, which i think it BS. anywho, i'm scheduled for an appointment at tuesday 8a.m. hopefully this will be my first and last time. i wonder what issues i'd have if i got the dodge ram.
TitanGuyCNY 05-05-2005, 07:43 PM Mudfinder, there are few things that drive me nuts more than a stray rattle or squeak. When I had my F150 I wound up under the dash with a flashlight while my bro-in-law drove down a bumpy dirt road just to figure out where the ##&!!!#*_@@@ noise was coming from. Of course, that was AFTER it was out of warranty or I woulda had the service department deal with it. Glad you're taking it in.

Take it back to the dealer I had the same thing, they ultimately had to order a whole new frame...and Nisan knows about it

I had the same squeak in the same area. I also narrowed it down to the plastic clover over the left hand (inboard) pass. seat hinge. It has two quick fastening clip on the aft end. I was going to take off the plastic cover to get to the hinge, but when I unfastened the clips I could not get the noise to duplicate. I have left it like that and so far no squeaking. Time will tell.
