: Transfer Case Fluid Type?

I just did my 7,500 mile service last weekend.

I've read the post regarding how to change the transfer case fluid but my question is what is the generic replacement for the Nissan oil?

There's a couple of different Mobil 1 ATF types and just wonder which one to use.

Here ya go Buzz http://www.clubtitan.org/postt1488.html This link should hopefully answer your questions.

I've never seen more then one kind of Mobil 1 ATF, where did you see different kinds of that? I have a hard time keeping up with the latest synthetics out there....

Thanks JetTech!

I had been looking in DIY then noticed that thread in TD and saw the reply after I had posted.

I had gone to the M1 site and they have several ATFs but only one syn? Guess I'll just wait and see if it truly will work for the Nissan type D.

I know that several here on the board are using M1 (universal) synthetic ATF in their differential cases and I'm using Amsoil ATF in mine. You should be fine with whatever you decide to use.

I bought the Nissan D-matic as posted in Jettech's how to post, But the manual says in the US use Nissan D-matic, Canda can use Dxron III, with that said the D in D-matic means Dexron. I just paid $ 3.84 a quart for it and it's nothing but Dexron, had I known I would have put in a synthetic ATF. Save your money.

I've been running the M1 ATF in the xfer case for about 4,000 mi with no problems. Now if we could come up with a compatible synthetic tranny fluid to replace the Matic-J that Nissan requires, I'd be set with full synth everywhere on my truck. I believe The Head is running the Amsoil ATF in his tranny since the valve body mods he had done.

Update on D matic, today I was looking in the owners manual of our Altima for the tranmission fluid specs, says D-matic, and the footnote states dexron III can be subbed for it.
