: request pics, 315 or 35s on titan with level kit
ensclark 05-05-2005, 02:41 PM I've seen a few of you have the 315 70/17s on your trucks with just a leveling kit. I'm starting to look for some new tires and want to see just how bad the rubbing is in the turn with them on with the level kit. I like the Nittos 295s but would like to get closer to 35 inchs.
So how bad does it rub and could you post some pics of them in a turn where they rub? Some have pushed/heated/rebuilt the inner fender area too. What did you have to do to clear the tires?
QWIKWHIP 05-05-2005, 04:00 PM I have seen pics of 2 or 3 trucks with 35's and just a leveling kit, one of them is Prerunner Greg, and my personal opinion is that they look too big with the truck at that stance. I would say that a 33" or 34" tire is the perfect size with a leveling kit. But again, that's just my view. :) My truck's tires are 33.6" and I have the 2"front and 1" rear PRG kit. 8)
ensclark 05-05-2005, 11:12 PM I've seen some of them too. I just have a deal on 315s that I realy can't pass on. I would think the 34 would be better overall but if I can go with the 315 BFGs, which are between 34 and 35 I will. I was just looking to see what was done to the rear area or how bad they rub. A little rubbin I can deal with so if any of you can take a pic with the wheel turned a bit please let me see what I'm gettin in to if I get these.
QWIKWHIP 05-06-2005, 08:48 AM I know it's not what your looking for but here's a pic of mine. They did rub and I had to trim a metal body seem under the liner then heat up the liner to reform it. So bigger we need more work. I remeber seeing pics of one guy that actually had to cut the liner off and made aluminum panels. Seems like a lot of extra work. :)

docopharm 05-06-2005, 09:05 AM Here's a pic of the guy Quick was referring to,, and yeah, he did some serious plastic cutting and ended up fabbing his own panels to get rid of *most* of the rubbing. They do look good, but I don't want to deal with all the trimming and whatnot so I stuck to the 305/55/20s. All in what your willing to do for the look you like I guess 8)

ensclark 05-06-2005, 01:08 PM Thanks, your pic was actualy more what I was looking for. I had seen the fab job on the other before and was wondering if others had to do that too. I was looking for pics of where on the plastic fender area does the tire rub and by how much is needed to clear it. You had to trim a weld and heat up the plastic? How much work was into it, trimming. I know a heat gun will heat up the plastic, or a torch. Thanks for the help. If any one else has some pics of the rubbin. Please let me see. Just want an idea of what I will have to do to get it cleared.
QWIKWHIP 05-06-2005, 01:21 PM It's hard to tell in my pic but that was before, and it was rubbing in that picture. If you pull the liner back, you will see a seem that sticks out about 3/4". There is a tab with a bolt in it that sticks out even more. I just ground down the high spot, maybe a 1/4" was all I needed. Then I used a torch (I recommend a heat gun though) to heat up the liner so I could reform it to fit so it didn't rub on the tire. I also had to trim a little bit of the fender flare, right at the bottom corner. That was no big deal though. When you pull back your liner this will make much more sense after you see it. :D
Could 305x70r17 Good Year MT/R tires be what you are looking for? its what Im trying to find out for my Titan, the tires are 34" tall so they are half way between the oem 33" and the 35" used on 6" lifted Titans.
ensclark 05-23-2005, 09:23 PM Greytitan4x4 has on 34 muds and hasn't had a problem. We have the same kit on our trucks from nitrousenterprises.com. I don't think your going to have a problem with them. The 315/70.17s are 34.5ish and I know some have them on with a little rub. Im just tring to see what needs to be done. I don't thing you would have to do anything. If BFG A/T would come out with the 305 I would have picked them up. I am sure they wont fit with the mudflaps though. I like mine but know they are off as soon as the new wheels go on.
JayDee 05-24-2005, 01:25 AM How well do the 305/60/18 Tera Grapplers work without altering the fender liners? I would naturally go larger, but I have to keep gearing/weight in check for towing.
