How about posting a "Sticky," maybe under the Rules for the forums, or elsewhere, that asks people to "do a search" before they post.

Many topics inquired about have already been covered so many times, it seems pretty often people ask about changing diff fluids, or this squeek or that one, or their brake problems, etc. When this occurs, a handful point them to the correct link/thread that's already on this site, found via a search.

When I visit here I always check latest posts since last visit, and daily I wade through the same-old-same-old that have already been covered many times.

Also, how about a Web Site Suggestion forum, or seperate area to discuss/suggest ideas like this or others as we run across them/they come to mind.

You know -- there could be a whole area -- POST YOUR BRAKE ISSUES HERE that we'd fill up in a week.

Nonetheless, great site and good job Mods. Thanks in advance - Jim

PS... I didn't do a search before posting this. Hopefully it hasn't been covered before (haha!!)

Seems like a common theme on every board - new members asking the same thing. I have personally found though, that pointing them in the right direction, rather than telling them to "do a search", tends to make them feel more welcomed and more likely to return and contribute to the forum. Just my .02. 8)

By God -- You're right! I typed in "Site Suggestions" the first time and didn't see it. After your post, I tried it again and scrolled down 31 threads to find the forum! Silly me....

In fact, I am moving it there! Also, I think the newbies would get much better info from doing the searches also. It does offend them when you tell them that though, they think you are blowing them off, rather then pointing them in the direction of the best info.

Well many new posters are new to the site and feel that it's just easier to ask and usually they get a prompt response from someone with no problems.

Like me when I did my first post on a site(Which will not be named) and everyone FLAMED do a search as the replies, when they could have easily just helped me out. So I left. If this site turns into one of those then I will no longer be on this site. But Club Titan is a very relaxed and helpful community.

I've got no problem in giving them a hand if they can't find it. I think some just don't know how to search properly. And I want everyone to feel welcomed.

dang it, forgot to uncheck the leave shadow topic!

I do think making the search feature easier to see would be a good idea. Maybe high light it a little but, I think we already gave M4ck Enough to work on this weekend. :D

I can see your point, however, from my point of view, when I see a post that leads, "Newbie here: how do I change my rear diff fluid," I don't even bother opening it. I mean - they were smart enough to find the site and register -- you think typing "DIFF FLUID" in the search mode is that challenging?

Hey Little Budda - glad you posted. There was a discussion awhile back on XM radio. I posted the Nissan kit cost me about $600 parts/install through Nissan. You mentioned you got it for less than $200 and I asked, how, where? You never got back to me.
Here's the thread -- http://www.clubtitan.org/postlite2886-.html in case you missed it. Thanks in advance - Jim

I guess I should throw my .02 in here too. I really don't want this forum to go the way of others, because if it does I too will find another playground. To me, the reputation CT has developed is one of helping others no matter how insignificant and or repetitive we may think their problem or question is. I'm quite proud to be a part of this community and will do whatever I can to keep it just the way it is.....

This is exactly why I like CT. I lurked at Titan Talk for awhile but never posted because they were so rude if you asked a "dumb question". Please dont do that here!!!

True, very true! It's hard to find something that works as well and feels as welcoming as it does here. Gotta keep that going! :D

Mine is aftermarket. I got the Tuner, car dock kit, and home dock hit for $200 self installed. It's FM transmitted so no need to take out the stereo to install.

$600 is a lot to pay for just the antenna and tuner.
You can buy an aftermarket Tuner for around $99 and about 25' antenna for under $29. You'll just need the adapter. But the Car docking kit is the way to go because it's more versital.(menu selection, text scrolling, and many other functions)

I have to say something about this... (like i don't talk enough already) When i chose to do advertising on Nissan sites, I could have gone anywhere but i chose temple...uhh I mean Club Titan, Because of the atmosphere here... You guys seemed to help people out and you seem to post your sponsors info when someone had a question, because they gave you good service or a great price... I wanted to be part of this community and I said This is the place i want to spend my money, If that were to change would i take my advertising dollars elsewhere? dunno, I don't think so but I hope it doesn't change, you guys and gals are a great bunch, and you should never change. Just my thoughts, I am no-one!

Just can't help but chime in ...

It's hard for me to go to TT anymore even though that's where I started my foray into Titan forums. I still do "stop by" from time to time, but only after exhausting all possibilities at the CT.

That said, the "search" function is great - but it's not always easy to use. Actually, there have been times when I KNEW something was out there already but couldn't find the darn thing via searching. So doing a search doesn't always work, unfortunately.

The second thing here is that there are a number of members of CT who don't necessarily have the expertise to throw in their first-hand solution to a problem. However, a lot of the time they have read/participated in threads that did address the issue some "noob" has. Instead of saying "search dammit!", they post links to the threads b/c it's easy for them to find (hey, they read it the first time around). In other words, there's a job for everyone. That's the beauty of this forum - you don't have to answer some new guy's question that's already been answered before - chances are, someone else already has and even better chances say that somebody else will point the new guy in the direction of the already posted solution (longest sentence ever- sorry). So it's all good!!!

"I have been visiting the other Titan sites and I must say, this one has the right stuff for Titan owners in terms of discussions, member input, etc.

I will make this my main Titan site and I look forward to exchanging info with all of you.

I used to be the moderator of a Dodge Durango forum -- about 1,200 members, so I've heard it all (I think). We'll see what comes up here.

Nice to be here" / Jim

Let's not forget when we first started on this board. I look back and asked some pretty basic questions that had already been covered and got some great responses.
I am still asking some basic questions that have already been covered. I believe Jim, you'll give me a great response as well when the time is right. Hopefully, I will be able to respond in kind some day. Don't couch us.

LB - thanks for the comeback on the radio. I will look into that.

Regarding the comments on my recommendations for the site -- whatever works for the majority. It was just a suggestion. I don't visit the other site, although I am a member there -- I think I have about 5 posts in there total. Maybe I will take a peek there more often so some of what's written here(i.e. "over at that other site....") makes sense to me.

One thing I must say about the "other site," I ran into a brother of a guy who used to work for me in Japan there! Unbelieveable. Through him, I was able to correspond with my friend, who is still over there in Japan.

Have a good one. - I get another ECU flash today at the dealer.

Thank God for warranties. - Jim
