I had some minor warranty stuff done last week. No big deal. :) One of them was an erratic reading gas gauge and another was my HVAC lights work interemitently. After a couple trips of "could not duplicate problem" they said they think they finally found the problem. They told me it was an electronic module of some sort and that both problems were traced to this module. So they ordered it and I'm just waiting for it to come in. My questions to you are does this sound like it could really be the problem and have you encountered these problems and what were your fixes. I'm just wondering if they are just guessing and changing parts at this point to make me feel better. :) Thanks in advance.

Well, it could be the problem. But, what I have seen most often with the fuel gauge is the sender unit in the tank..I hate to admit I have changed a few of them. As far as the lights for the HVAC controls...I am not too sure, havent seen that one yet. But I would think it would be in the control head itself..Just about every time I have seen a problem with lighting in things, such as radio, hvac controls, insturment cluster, switches ect.., replacing that part takes care of it (bulb or led failure..) When a BCM (body control module) or what every electronic module a manf. uses to control functions fails, it usually makes a part function differently other than illumination or just quit working..I guess after they replace the part we will know, my opinion...I think they may be replacing a body computer for nothing. but I can be wrong.

I was afraid you were gonna say that! lol. The HVAC lights randomly will not come on, when they don't if I adjust the dimmer switch they turn right on. I would think that it could be a faulty dimmer switch?? As for the gas gauge, I also agree that the sending unit seems the more likely candidate. :) Well, I guess I'll see when the part gets here. Thanks!

Yeah, you may have a fault with the dimmer switch as well, but if that was failing, you would think that it would affect all lights not just those...but hopefully thier techs found something with their diagnosis that would show a bad part..I hope they arent just throwing parts at your truck.
Let me know what happends!

Well after the first two attempts at fixing I asked if they could just replace the sending unit because that was a somewhat know problem and he explicitly said they don't want to just change parts without knowing the cause. So hopefully that was the truth and they really found the problem. :) But I will let ya know what happens. Thanks again.

But that is just what they are doing.... It is the sending unit, it is a problem on about 2/10 of the titans, and we had 4 of them through this shop, and of course my guys did the same thing, they threw a Dash cluster at it, and when it didn't stick, they replaced the Sending Unit.... FIXED! WE'll see, but i bet you have to go back!

Grrrrr, well that's two for two. I had a feeling that would be the case. It wouldn't be such a big deal if it wasn't 30 minutes away from my home and an hour away from were I work to the nearest dealer. :( Oh well.
