I just want to let all know, in case I disappear for a while, I am having MAJOR issues with my computer. It seems while trying to download "Spybot", I inadvertently got a tool bar (Oemji) that also gave me 2 hijacker programs, (Wsup, and Wtoolsa). M4ck is trying to help me get rid of them, but I have a feeling it is going to take a complete reformat. These programs won't even allow me to download anything to disk, so I will be loosing all my pictures, the Titan service manual, and all kinds of other documents I have on here! The way it is running now, I never know how long I can get a program to run before everything just freezes. I will try to be here as much as possible, but in all honesty, I am so frustrated with this thing, it just may get flying lessons real soon!

We've all been there. I have a new Dell Inspirion 700m laptop that arrived this afternoon because I have had it with our home computer. I figured after 4.5 years it was time to replace it anyway. Last week was the last straw when after a very hard field work day in the rain, I tried to finish some office work on my home computer and it just kept giving me problems. I still had my steel-toe work boots on and really wanted to kick the cr*p out of the thing. Hopefully the new one will last well beyond the two year warranty.

Stepdaughter is coming down tonight to reformat while I am at work. She is bringing all her disks, and wants to do it while I am not here to bug her! With any luck, I will be able to post and navigate tommorow without this thing freezing and messing with my mind.

We are back up and running! Now with XP Pro instead of ME. Man is it different! Hope I will get used to it before too long!

BiXLL, sorry that I didn't see this post earlier. I may have been able to save you from having to reformat. There's a little freeware (version) of a program called AdAware that is great at detecting and removing tracking cookies, browser hijackers, etc. It may have eradicated your problem. However, since yer up and runnin' XP now, you'll be happier. One item: that XP Pro that your stepdaughter installed-is it her copy and she just put it on your machine? You know about the activation process for XP, right? You have to activate it via MS's website within 30 days or it quits working. And since every CD containing XP has a unique serial number.....I hope they don't nail ya.

I had the adaware SE. It couldn't touch them buggers I had in here! So far as the XP, yes, it was her disk. I think I'll just shoot her and be done with it!

You will have to get your own copy of XP. However, all you need is the upgrade version, not the full version. You can use it to do a repair installation by booting from the XP CD. This way you will retain everything you have on your computer, but will have the Product Key from your own copy to activate with. Then everything will be legal and you won't have any problems with updates.

Since I went from win2000 to xp, I have had no problems like I was having before with the other operating system. I am trying to convince my dad to give up his old os and switch to xp so I dont have to keep working on his

Sounds like this topic had better cease and desist right now before big brother gets wise....

BiXll,
Do not update your XP with SP2 from Microsoft. I updated my XPPro with SP2. It gave me bunches of problems. One of the major problem was it disconnected me from my DSL. I called my ISP and they said that it's a known problem and recommended me to remove SP2. After that, everything worked fine.

For some reason, my system won't accept it anyway! I even had them mail me the disk to install it, and it won't take!
