goval 05-10-2005, 11:22 PM Here is the newly re-designed box. It has a console with a compartment and cover, 2 cup holders, and a compartment on top of the sub box wich I left the pictures out because I have to do some finishing. I used a grey carpet to match the grey stereo bezel. The subwofer is protected with an acrylic cover. I had to buy a 10"/200 watts R.F. sub and give up the 12"/ 800 watts Pioneer to make room for a compartment on top and to make the box smaller. This thing sounds awesome! It sounds even better than the last one. I used 3/4 thickness wood, kind of expensive but enough to smooth the bass and not to give that plywood kind of noise.
goval 05-10-2005, 11:27 PM Here are some pictures of the old one. I'm sorry I meant to put this post within the other one (Part II) but I clicked the "new post" button instead and whe I realized I had already written and downloaded the pictures, didn't want to do it again.
Your new console looks awesome. I notice a car seat in back, you trying to blast that baby to next week
Very clean looking install, good job.
goval 05-10-2005, 11:50 PM Hahaha! The baby doesn't mind, keeps her quiet. She likes music. The air holes are on the bottom of the box, (2) 2".
Kopperking 05-11-2005, 06:50 AM You gonna add some head rest speakers for that Car seat?
The box looks Great, but you "lost" the "Cool-ness" with the Car-seat pic! :roflmao:
norse39 05-11-2005, 10:36 AM Oh yeah! I'm feeling that one! I like it alot. The cover over the woofer is sweet. Don't want to mention it after all that but the only thing I could see that needs alittle work is the cup holder. Looks a little unfinished. Dont know if you could recess it or make it a pop up or flip open from the back or bottom to hide when not in use. overall very nice! I want one now. If your going for the rocker look, you lost it with the carseat! J/K.:headbanger:
Redright9 05-11-2005, 10:48 AM Yes, the newest one looks awesome! Great job!!
Great job I agree the second looks better. what about just cutting 2 holes and mounting cup holders to the bottom of the holes then they would set down in the console. Probably be more secure and look more finished.
Just a thought. But yeh I really do like it. I have been wanting to do that since last summer.

Rossi 05-11-2005, 12:38 PM Hey...that speaker looks familiar......an RF P2 if my eyes aren't failing me yet.
Sooo....you took the original one out? Or did you place captain chairs in it yourself....which I think must be the case since you must have a column shifter.
kcchief_fan 05-11-2005, 01:16 PM Very nice job on the second rendition!!! If it sounds as good as it looks your rockin'
firecracker 05-11-2005, 01:23 PM Looks good!
kytitan 05-11-2005, 05:37 PM Wow, much better than the other. I'm very impressed. :headbanger:
goval 05-11-2005, 10:08 PM What's wrong with the car seat dogs? Yal got jokes huh? What if I put a cool car seat, does that help? Maybe some chrome? I can be creative on this.
I'm working on putting some trims on the console too, giving some wood-like color trims will match my dash.

Chrome sounds good or maybe even paint match the Titan. :D
ensclark 05-11-2005, 10:31 PM I like the new one more than your first setup. It's looking sweet. One question, why did you go with the speaker towards the back in stead of down? I'm sure putting on a guard was a must, with that car seat I'm sure there are little feet, and one kick is all it will take.
goval 05-11-2005, 10:41 PM I put the speaker facing back for show, also, I got an acrylic cover to protect it from a "disaster", the cover is pretty thick, got it from old Home Depot. Hey I was just kidding about making the car seat look cool, but once I heard about paint matching, I got some ideas, hehehe!
Man, you guys with all of this creative talent suck. I'm doing good to nail 2 boards together and even then I doubt if they'd line up.
TitanosaurusRex 05-11-2005, 11:03 PM Hey Dude, You're getting there! Way better that the previous try.
I daresay it looks factory! I'd like to hear the sub in that location/direction. How did you phase the driver?
T Rex
goval 05-12-2005, 09:12 PM I don't get your question T-Rex?
TitanosaurusRex 05-12-2005, 10:09 PM I don't get your question
T-Rex?
Hi,
"phase" refers to the direction that the voice coil moves when electrified. To really be "in phase" I think you would need to wire a rear-facing driver backwards.
But anyway, I bet phase isn't considered really important with subs.
I let my subscription to _Stereo Review_ expire several decades ago...(is that mag still in bizniz?)
