: JL Audio Needs a Titan King Cab
We would like to produce a Stealthbox for the King Cab. To do the work required, we will need a Titan. If you would like to help us out, please let me know.
Here's the requirements:
You must be located in or near Broward County, FL.
We will need the truck initially for 2-3 days for lay-up.
After the prototypes are made, we'll need the truck back for another day for listening tests.
Once testing and production are done, we'll need the truck for another day for photography and instruction sheets (your truck will be famous).
What's in it for you? Besides international fame, you will receive the first production Stealthbox free of charge. If you are interested, e-mail me. I am not sure that I will be checking this post very often.

Suggestion, put it under the Front Passenger seat, and I'll buy it! The backseat area is for Accomodation ONLY. "Good Idea, Bad Design" IMHO.

Good thought, but as I have shown in another thread you need very low profile speakers. Very tight under there. And JL audio would never let it pass sound testing. It is so tight there is very little air space once done getting the wood under there, and you can not real big bump out of them. Mine sound fine for what and how I listen to music. But bump is not something that will come out of the small space.
Kopperking 05-20-2005, 11:13 PM Well, they got a 6" sub to fit under the Driver's seat. Why can't there be a Matching one under the Passenger's?
A sub is for Prescence, not for Blasting.

Because there is only about 4.5 inches of clearence under the passenger seat. The air bag controls are in the way. Plus the driver side was designed with more space under there, for the Rockford sub you can get. Not sure how it mounts though. As for the passenger side, that tight squeeze gets considerably smaller when you add the wood to support it. But I never said it could not be done, because I built my own, but it has to be precise circumstances.

I just sent an email as I am in palm beach county and now have to use a company truck during the week this will work out well for me. Wonder if they could find a place for my Orion HCCA 250G4 to power it.

Hey I called them several times and talked to a nice bunch of guys. Just call the front desk girl (she is kinda ditzy!, big suprise) But tell her to transfer you to someone in the TECH Department. They are already working with 2 Titans in the Miami Area...it was too far for me from Naples on the West Coast. Plus I also learned that there is a possibility they can take your truck for a week and you not get anything. If they (JL) find that there is no feasible way to mount a sub in the cab to their liking they won't build one...For example, the Ford Explorer Sport Trac! Great guys there...its nice to be able to talk to some realy people at these audio places instead of the corperate giants like Sorny oops I mean Sony and Pioneer. GOOD LUCK TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATE.

Luckily, your opinion does not reflect that of the Stealthbox buyer at large. We sell them faster than they can be produced. You can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs.
WOOT!

Even the guy with the Sport Trac left with something in his truck. We are still looking for a person who lives in BROWARD however. No work has been done to date.

Bighitter 05-23-2005, 07:19 PM Well like I siad I could leave the truck for a week as it is not my main mode of transportation anymore.

You sell them to people who "settle" for what hey can get. Design it for Everyone, and Make a Fortune.
When your competitor figures out how to do it (the right way), you're out of business.

Since when has under the seat become the "right place". In any audio designing the right place has many definitions. It might be the right place for a little kick, however: is the what JL or their buyers are looking for? Most people that know JL as a manufacturer and desire their products are not going to be satisfied with the output of a box under the drivers seat. What some consider right others consider horribly wrong. Life is a matter of perspective. Some of the guys on here would die if their wives spent $1200 on a outfit, but we will think nothing of going out and buying an ANV Eclipse or an AVIC-N2 for $1800.

It is very sad to see a manufacture acting like a child. I was really excited to see what you came up with for the King Cab, but your additude towards the owners, who would be buying your product does not work for me. Luckily for you, you're having trouble finding one in your area, because I would not buy from your company now if it was gold plated. Tattoomee was expressing his opinion in what he was looking for in a box, customers are what keep you around, if you do not at least consider there ideas you will never make it. All the best to you, but no sale from me.
