CLUBTITAN STATEMENT

Ok, time to clear a few things up. 3 Years ago, ClubTitan was started by basicly 3 people. M4ck (Josh), BiXLL (Bill), and JetTech(Dale). We had many conversations in the beginning about the direction, and priorities we wanted the site to take. We did not want to have the same atmosphere as other sites we had joined, as that is what made us start a new place. We have never cared what other sites do, how they run things, their rules, or how their rules are enforced. We were going to stay the course on what we felt was right, and how we wanted the site to develop.
We decided that above all else, it was going to be a site for people to come, and be able to feel comfortable at all times. This meaning that we would not permit any nudity, profanity, or flaming of any kind. We specifically talked about the fact that we did not feel it was necessary to even own a Titan to come here, any and all were welcome. We had no problems with anybody linking to other Titan sites here, or talking about them so long as there was no bashing of them, or comparing them to us. We strived to be different, with a friendly, family type atmosphere. A place a guy could pull up at work, and not have to worry about unexpected things popping up that could get them in trouble. A place where a parent could surf, and not have to worry about their kids seeing something inappropriate if they came into the room.
A place for friendships to grow, to talk about our trucks, and even to just hang out and have fun!
As time went on, we grew. We attracted a different, what I would like to call more mature crowd then what the other similar sites were getting. As we grew, there were also people that joined that were released, or banned as they did not wish to conform to the rules and guidelines that we had established to make the site what it was. It is not always a popular thing to do, to ban someone, but in order to keep something you have put so much effort into building, you can not worry about being popular.
As of late, ClubTitan has lost a lot of its identity, or atmosphere. A big part of it is due to the size it has grown to. (We must have been doing something correctly?) I feel a bigger factor is that Josh and myself have also been extremely busy with life outside the forum, and have not had the grip on things the way we always did. At any rate, we have decided it is past time for us to do just that, take back control of the direction the site is going to take.
Again, the changes we are going to insist on may not be popular with all, but that is something that we can not worry about if we are to be committed to turning things back the way we intended this place to be. Just from reading over the thread Rossi started saying good bye, I can see quite a few members that would obviously be happier at other sites, as they seem to feel that their personal opinion on how the site should be run, should take precedent over what the site founders want.
I urge all to go back and read ClubTitan Rules and Guidelines and refresh yourself. Also, PLEASE, if your sig is not in compliance, fix it without a mod having to ask you to do so. I do want elaborate of a few things that may not be said, or understand from the rules. 1.
While ClubTitan is a Nissan Titan site, it IS NOT , and NEVER HAS BEEN, intended solely for Titan owners. From day 1 of ClubTitan, all are welcome, and all will be treated with the same respect and dignity as any other.
2. Profanity, or swearing is not permitted. I have been seeing more and more posts where people will get around the auto system in place by intentionally misspelling the word. We don’t want it here, it is not needed to express yourself, and will no longer be tolerated.
3. Flaming, directed put downs, or anything similar is not permitted at ClubTitan period. Not other web sites, not other brand trucks, not other members. Trucks and websites can be talked about, or compared without the need to be taking a personal opinion of someone and attacking them for it. This has gotten way out of hand lately, and I apologize to the membership for not getting a grasp on it sooner. I am not just talking about the Tundra thing, but that seems to be what has really gotten the entire flaming thing up to the forefront.
4. Public postings attacking members, CT mods/admins etc. If you have a problem or disagreement, do not air it out in public. That is what Pms are for. If you can not get things resolved on your own, contact a mod, and we will do our best to get things settled.
5. Get back to each and every member doing what they can to make ClubTitan a fun place to be, not a place to come stir up problems, or see what the latest gossip is on someone.
The change in moderation status was due to the fact that some were not on the same page as us in so far as the direction and priorities we felt we wanted ClubTitan to have held most important. They themselves made statements to us that they wanted removed from mod status. It was never meant to put them down in any way, it was just a move we felt was needed in order to get things back the way we feel they should be. If they leave the site, that is their choice, but they were never asked to leave, nor do we want them to leave. It is not a bad thing that they see things different, but we need the people running the show here to be on the same page if we are to get things back!
I will not speak for Shailey as to why he decided to leave. I will say he called me personally, and it had nothing to do with Josh or I asking him to move on, but more of being disappointed in the direction things were going. I am hoping he will return, as well as Rossi and Firecracker staying on as valued members.
Now, I urdge all to get involved in helping us to get this place back to what we had, something/someplace very special. If you see trouble starting, rather then adding to it, report the post, or send a mod a pm so it can be dealt with before it goes too far. I am sure that the stricter, more enforced policies of CT may end up driving some members to other places. To that I say, I am not really interested in having large numbers of members, I am interested in having high quality members.

I would actually have to say I agree with most of what was said.

Sad that you or Josh never had any in depth converations with me about any of this. Differences of opinion are going to occur...that's life.

As for asking to step down.....I told you that if you don't want me as a Moderator...remove me. And you did. I never said...Bill/Josh..I no longer wish to be a Moderator of CT. Just wanted to clear that up.

So everyone...yes.....you all need to do what Bill stated in this thread. This place hasn't been fun for me in quite sometime. If it were I'd have 15,000 posts by now...and those the knew me a couple years ago can attest to that!

So hey...life is life....will I be around here...I'm not decided at this point. Pretty disappointed in a few things right now.

Just so everyone knows this is not just from Bill. This is Bill and My position on things we want for this site. We have too much time invested and love for the people here to let things continue the way they were going. We have lost quite a few member who just decided things were not right here any longer. This is due in some part to my being too busy to keep up with things like I used to because of personal issues. I have more time now to devote to the site and I along with Bixll and SCR38 will start monitoring things much closer. There will be no tolleration for flaming at all. This goes for anyone. There will be no tolleration for cursing in the forum. This includes people trying to get around the safety features already put in. We want this place to get back to being a fun, easy going, well informed site where anyone no matter of sex, age, race, religion, or even the vehicle type they drive are treated different. We will need your help in this as well. As Bill said if you see something out of line with the rules bring it to our attention.
Please help us work through this and help us make this place better. It will be a struggle but I know in the long run it will be for the best.
Thanks
M4ck

I agree, too with what Josh and Bixll have said.

Everyone should read and try to do this.

On the same note, I too, would have liked an explaination prior to this, as I never said "I didn't want to be a moderator", either.

Doesn't matter, I guess.

I will stay around, I still like this place.

For the record I want to thank Rossi and Firecracker for their help in the past. No one wants you guys to go anywhere. You are welcome here and still respected by us. This is just a decision that was made after much talking. It was not easy at all. You guys always have been and hope you will still be great members. We just feel we need everyone on the same page to keep the site going in the right direction.

Thank you for explaining as best as can be expected. We don't need transcripts of everything, just to know the original vision is driving the site in its original direction.

Glad some things are back on track. There are specific things that attract me here, even though I am plenty active elsewhere, and lose track where I am sometimes! LOL. No, I don't meet my own expectations many times, but thankful there are expectations to meet. I appreciate the efforts of everybody who has contributed to the growth and quality of this site. I hold them all in high regard, and always will.

I will also add my comments.
I agree fully with Bill and Josh. I was drawn to ClubTitan because it was a site where people could come and discuss their vehicles and related items, in a friendly, non-combative atmosphere. With everyone's help we can return to that atmosphere.

I assumed it was summer and everyone was out playing. If you guys need me to help in anyway let me know. i keep my eye on the audio section frequently .

Well Put Josh & Bill.

We here at SoCal Motorsports have the utmost confidence/faith in both of you, as well as the other members that CT will soon be the place we all want it to be.

Have a great evening,

Performance debates would be fine as long as they are kept intellectual...

We can have conversations about brands. ;) Down with Nabisco!!!!! Frito-lay sucks!!!

Oh yes I remember the days when half the stuff you see on here today would have been deleted in seconds and member would have been ban, but it has gotten to where it is a every day thing here now.

Glad to hear things are going back to the old CT. The CT where everyone got along and helped everyone out!!!

even if it was about making a fronty look like a titan! lol

I have been a member for almost a year and even though I don't post too frequently (partly because I don't have my Titan yet), I do spend alot of time here. I appreciate the atmosphere that our Admin. has set up on this site, that's why I am rarely on the other sites. I too have noticed alot of things that weren't as they used to be and am glad that is being fixed.

As for not being able to say bad things about other brands:
I don't think that means you can't say anything bad. It just means that you have to be factual and respectful in doing so.

For example, and correct me if I understand this wrong please Admin.:

I think it would be fine to say: I test drove a Tundra and it didn't ride any where near as smooth or comfortable as my Titan.

But it would be wrong to say: I test drove a Tundra. They ride like crap and I don't know why anyone would spend their money on such a piece of junk.

Both statements share the same opinion but the first one isn't offensive, just an opinion. You can share opinion without bashing or flaming.

Thank You Admin. and keep up the good work.

I have to say upon reading this tread I completly agree with the statements made by the admins...Ive only been a member for a few weeks now and cant get enough of this site. The friendly reception I recieved upon creating my account and the continuing help has been amazing and is quite frankly unparalled compared to other forums I "have been" apart of. If this is the new look of things I welcome it with open arms as the professionalism that accompanies this site is what got my attention in the first place. To everyone involved in the creation, participation and continuing preservation of this wonderful site ...all I can say is THANK YOU!

Just so everyone knows. Rossi, Slurppie, and myself are not the reason the site had turned around. We just weren't being as strict as Bixll would have liked, I guess.

I almost sounds as if we were the root cause of this.

This is definately not the case and everyone should know that. I hoped we made that plain in the first couple posts. In case anyone thought this though you are correct. You guys were not the root of the problem. We just had to make some changes to get things back in the direction we need to be going.

I didn't get that impression. I can't think of any times that I have seen any of our mods, or former mods, causing any trouble. But, I have seen mods who disagreed with each other.

I agree that if someone is going to be a mod they need to uphold the rules of the forum. Just like police officers need to uphold the law, not their version of it. To me that's what "On the same page" means!

Thank you for the service you provided to us though! I for one appreciated all of our mods.

And hey, if we would all try to follow the suggestion from earlier and report things through PM to the mods when we see them, there wouldn't be a need for as many mods. We could all play our part!

Thank you Admins for the clarification... I to have been guilty of using 'creative spelling'... Since I know now that we have people looking out for this; there will be no more 'creative spelling' for me going forward :-)... I have a question for the Admins; when we PM someone, are we allowed to use 'creative spelling' in there (since it's not public domain) with the caveat that a member is not being discredited by another member, vice-versa? I've always had a grey area of the PMs compared to the forums as to what can/will be tolerated. If you could let me know (I'm sure I'm not the only one that is not clear with this, I'll also try to cut the 'creative spelling' down in the PMs too. I don't have a potty mouth when talking to people, I just sometimes throw in the 'creative spelling' sometimes for a lack of a better word and I understand that this will no longer be tolerated... I've grown to love this site, and do not ever want to get banned from here; there are too many friendships that I have here, and wouldn’t want to lose that. So, if the Admins could please answer that question for me, I can better understand the policies for the PMs as well. Many Thanks!!!!

This is the avenue best suited to handle individual disputes. I do want to say, it is still part of CT, and I feel like you need to show respect to who ever you are dealing with. So far as the swearing, why is it so important to be able to do it? Is it really needed to be able communicate?

absolutely not... i was just curious, and wanted to make sure not to cross any lines or banishment. i'll just swear at my computer screen, or my cat if something gets me upset :-)... i'm fine with the rules, and will abide by them... this was a serious shakeup, so, i know ya'll mean business. thanks!!!

Wow. It's so nice to read about everyone coming clean and upfront with everyone else. So......heartwarming. Almost like a big group hug!:love-transform-big: .

Thanks for all the replies and clarifications guys. I feel much better. Even though I feel I am a pretty decent member and don't remember a time that I got out of line, I will do my best to follow CT rules. And if I ever offended anyone, sorry.

This board has been an invaluable resource to me since the day I bought my Titan and I really appreciate the fact that it exists. I visit this board nearly every day and actually look forward to clicking on that "new posts" button when I get home from a long day of work. This site overall is pretty tame compared to the rest of cyberspace as it should be - glad to see steps are being taken to keep it that way but sad to see guys go who have spent countless hours and thousands of dollars in their contributions to make Club Titan.org what it is today. I have no doubt that this site will continue to live on for years to come and look forward to being a part of it for as long as I own my rig.

If I have offended anyone please do forgive me as that is certainly not what I meant to do. As for Rossi, Shailey, and any others that have helped me out and put up with my noob questions...THANK YOU!!! I am sure you already know it but you guys are an invaluable part of this forum.

I can honestly say that this change will be hardcore for the better and I eagerly look forward to the return (or active participation if they are not gone) of any and all members. Its kinda sad to say but CT is addictive I check the site about every 10 min unless I'm asleep or working if I had the net at work then i wouldn't be getting much done. I love this site and it is by far the best site I have been a member of the amount of information everyone gives is so helpful when you ask a question you don't have to worry about getting the typical response of "try the search" but in alot more harsh words. I want to thank every admin for the great devotion to the site and hope this will always remain ClubTitan.

I’m here for many reasons and most of the reason is the “Membership”. This site has provided the opportunity to read, learn and test based upon “MY Own” and “Others” wants and experiences. As long as this website and its members provide Objective, Insightful, Unbiased, Thorough and Respectful posts I’ll be sticking around.

But we do have rules no matter where we go in this world. Rules are grounding to the general direction of the entity in which they were developed. Please just follow them to the best of your ability and I hope that the talked about banning does come with some kind of warning before Cyber-Gulag is imposed. Obviously there are extreme and lesser conditions that would warrant the ban or warning.

Also post count really does nothing for me as to how much more or less I value a members reply or post. If the posts/replies are Objective, Insightful, Unbiased, Thorough and Respectful I will read it and make my own decisions upon the topic. Each registered member has a value in my minds eye. If not we would not hear about the 11000 members we have.

Many times I read posts from yesterday to last year and think I should reply and I don’t. Even after I have typed the whole response up in Word and reread 2-3 times and spell checked it. Why?...because I do not want to come across as negative. So I simply don’t post that’s my choice. However just because I chose to act that way in the past it should not mean I cannot ask questions in a respectful manner if I want or need a clarification on a topic that was/is posted in past or the future. I would also feel that would go for anyone using this site.

In the end, in my Opinion We ALL make up the site WWW.CLUBTITAN.ORG (http://www.clubtitan.org/). The site for Titan discussions and comradely who welcomes all brands and peoples.

Looks like great things are coming out of this all.

You know, sometimes you don't realize things have drifted a bit until somebody else tells you so. I really think that had happened here in some respects. We need good leaders like Josh and Bill and SCR to remind us of what we are here for and how "we" do it. Thank you, I'm feeling so much better about all of this, especially seeing such comaraderie from many who could have easily walked away and not looked back. It is very encouraging to see the humility (humbleness) excercised by many. I am personally called, to more of the same.

Oh ... and on another note ... my brother is the King of ALL Lurkers (lol) ... does not own a Titan, but was touched by ALL the thoughts and prayers that went out from so many here at CT when he was literally DEATHLY ill.

He commented to me the other day at work that this site is gonna be better than ever in the long run. That means alot to me coming from him because of the integrity he possesses and demonstrates daily on the job and whenever you come into contact with him.

I got him a room at OT for Friday night just as a gesture of his goodness to me as a older brother, and hope to goodness he can make it to the Old Town Meet so he can meet some of you that he has grown to know even though he doesnt post or PM.

wow...I miss afew days and this? I will just say....
I at one point came home everyday and the first thing I did was read about Johns ( GOT TITAN ) s/c thread. Or to look at Austins C green machine, it was the first lifted Titan I had ever seen. I feel I built my 05 the way I wanted to, and did so very well. I could not have had anywhere near the rig I did without CT! I know that Im guilty of what the mods have said, but I hope my baby will be remembered for this, I came here a newby, and built the best truck I have ever owned, with help from alot of people here! Heck....I had a 50,000 dollar Titan!!! That I had to sell :(
My point is that while I have an Xterra now, Im still here ncause I love the eople here. I had not been on as much because I work alot.....I hope this all worked out. I do really love this place!!!!
And no bashing my Xterra....just because it's faster..lol..lol..
BTW..I hope all that know me or of me, are helped by what I did and my trials with my girl. I still would not change one thing..esp CT being the first site I ever joined. I will be back! bigger, stronger, and faster!

Its not a sex site. Its a silly thing you put two names in it and your sign then it asks your cell phone number. It will then charge you like calling a 900 number when it calls with the answer to see if you are compatible with someone else. lol

I am a late arrival to this thread... as usual. I am "on a day/off a day" so it is easy for me to miss some things. You really have to get around here quite frequently anymore to stay afloat of all the activity going on at one time, and with all the new members, that makes it all the more difficult. Just so everyone knows (because a lot of people ask me if I am a mod), Josh aksed me to moderate the audio section of this site... and not having any prior experience in this capacity I was reluctant at first, for I felt I might not be able to fit the bill. He explained that I really didn't have to do much but check it out once in a while and make sure things stay clean. If I had to grade myself concerning my perfomance in that area, I would have to give myself a B-, because according to site rules, I have let a few things slip by concerning flames, bashes and as scr38 puts it "off-color language". I have to be even further honest in saying I have gotten around the language barrier a couple times myself. Mostly with softer risque words, but I normally don't talk that way in direct conversation. I am glad Bixxl put this out there, because as he so eloquently stated, these guidelines are vital to the preservation of the original vision these guys had in mind for this site, and I want to thank them for all their hard work in keeping it as such. As for me, I vow to work harder myself to preserve their vision... and the quality of this site. For the record, this is the only Titan site I usually visit. With the moderator responsibilities, I feel I need to be here more..rather than the others. Great thread, and hopefully this will get us back on track, and make this site the one place that new members love to come to... and make their home. Out! :)

I have gotten the general gist of what's happening and I am all for the clean up. I too have gotten a TON of info from this site, not only about my Titan but about ANYTHING I asked about. This was the first site I found regarding the Titan and the ONLY one I use.
So to the admin, mods, Josh, etc...great job and keep up the good work.

I am so glad that things are being pushed back to the norm. I had to escape from here last week and head over the CA so I could just read some jokes and forget about all that was going on here. I can't stand it when drama gets stirred and I'm glad to see that things are finalling settling down.
