: Help -- Best 6" LIFT?

Hey! I'm a new member here, although I don't have a Titan quite yet. I'm flying to Seattle next week to pick up the new Titan 4x4 I ordered. Woo-hoo!!! :D

I want to get a 6" lift on her ASAP along with 35" tires. I'm trying to gather enough info to figure out which is the best lift for me. I'd love to get some oppinions/facts from those of you who have the experience.

My truck will go offroad on occasion, but it will mostly be street driven.

Here are my questions: Fire away!
1 - The kits I know of are: CST, Pro Comp, and Fabtech. Are there others worth mentioning?
2 - Which is the best quality lift and why?
3 - Which is the best value ("bang for the buck")?
4 - Is the CST really 7" (an inch higher than the others, more tire clearance)?
5 - Can I do the instal myself (I'm handy in the garage, got a good supply of tools)? Any welding/cutting required?
6 - Is a 4-wheel alignment needed after installation?
7 - Thoughts on tire/wheel width for 35" tires with this lift? How about offset/backspacing?
8 - Will the lift work with stock tires/wheels (while I shop for a set of new ones)?
9 - What other components will I need with the kit? Longer drive shaft? Aftermarket shocks/struts? Others?
10 - What can I expect to pay for the parts?
11 - What can I expect to pay for a professional install?
12 - What am I forgetting?

Thanks so much for your help! I look forward to your responses.

Can't wait to REALLY join the club!

I just got a 6 inch fabtech lift for my 05 titan xe 4x4. I'm very pleased with the one I got. They did not have to cut anything off. I can run 35 inch tires on my stock 17 inch rims. I paid just under 3000.00 for the lift and tires at 4 wheel parts in Riverside, Ca. That also included a 4 wheel alignment which is needed. I would not recomend doing it your self unless you have a your own repair garage. I shoped around and looked at the other lifts but found them overpriced. Good luck with anything you do. Here are some pics of my truck.

I put the 6" fabtech lift on my self and yes you do have to cut the mounts where your back crossmember use to be because you must drop your front differential down into your new crossmember. You also have to cut the front brake line brackets off and mount the brake lines to the new bump stop. In all doing it by my self it took me 14 hours. You are looking at (depending on where you live) between 700 to 1400 for a pro to put it on for you. You do need a 4 wheel alignment just to make sure your back wheels are not angled downward. Right now I have clearing 35x14.50x18 super swampers Irok radial but I had to get a 4" wheel spacer. Or it would have rubbed on the new spindle. But the CST isnt a true 7" lift. You are better off going with Fabtech they are the best of the best next to skylifter. For the kit your are looking at 1400 for the basic and 2300 for the proformance. Which the basic comes with rear after market shocks and the performance comes with new ones all around that is the only difference between them. The best thing I can tell you is to shop around the internet and find out where you can get it the cheapest. If you have any questions just let me know.
