: am i experincing brake judder?
mudfinder 05-24-2005, 08:44 PM hey, guys, i've noticed when i start applying my brakes, my steering wheel very slighty starts to shake/judder, when accelerating or coasting, smooth as a baby's butt. only braking. brakes going? if so, i'm glad why? because now i feel like i'm part of the team. i'm suprised at myself that i'm not pist. i tend to be very very picky. knownig that it's normal and it's able to be taken care of, who cares. it's still one bad *** truck. yeehaaa.
rdawg06 05-24-2005, 09:14 PM Most Likely what you have is warped rotors, I went through that at about 5k miles..that would be my guess..only other thing i can think of is cracked pad..but most likely its the rotors.
OldSalt 05-24-2005, 09:47 PM Mine did the same thing. My rotors were warped. My dealer turned them, installed new pads, new torque members and torque member bolts, and placed me on the dreaded list awaiting the new parts kit.
mudfinder 05-24-2005, 10:38 PM what if instead of me taking it to the dealer and getting hassled by them, i purchase a set of those drilled rotors?

I was thinking the same thing, but then I thought "Nissan is fixing the whole thing for free"
Drilled rotors would be nice though.
jaysplaypen 05-25-2005, 01:48 AM I will eventually change my rotors to the drilled and slotted ones, I have very good luck with those not warping on the track car. I have one that has heat fractures in it but not a ounce of stopping power lose or judder. But for now I will take what they offer for free.
titanman 06-01-2005, 12:22 PM Just went through the same thing Mon. Get to your ealer ASAP and document your problem. Mine started at about 6000 miles. The 1st time they turned the rotors and replaced the pads, bolts, etc. When it started again I was waiting on the parts for about a month then the factory rep told the dealer to replace with the brand new thicker rotors,(which are in short supply). So now I have new front rotors, pads, bolts everything and the rear they only turned and replaced the pads etc. Nissan also extendes the warranty on the brakes to 70,000 miles. You will get the new improved brakes eventually with the full factory warranty ,(FREE). If you buy anything else you will pay and lose your warranty.Just a heads up.
titanman 06-01-2005, 12:23 PM Does anyone know what production date '05 they started using the new rotors?
firecracker 06-01-2005, 12:28 PM Does anyone know what production date '05 they started using the new rotors?
I was told the "new" rotors were not available until mid March '05.
Rossi 06-01-2005, 12:28 PM With all this brake judder stuff...I keep thinking I felt a little judder in the pedal and steering wheel...so I pay closer attention...and it's just me freaking out!!!
You guys are getting me paranoid now!!! :rash:
titanman 06-01-2005, 12:45 PM If and when it happens, you will know it and it will keep getting worse so there won't be any wondering what it is.
04DRUNNER 06-02-2005, 07:50 PM Well i think i am getting the vibration on my 05' prod 03/05... what is funny mine should have the new parts in it already?????
well looks like time to take it in and get it on record
NateL 06-02-2005, 08:44 PM I'm glad they finally have a good fix for the problem.
The rotors were warping because they weren't thick enough to handle the heat of stopping 5k lbs, so what does Nissan do to fix it, turn the rotors making them even thinner. People wondered why the second time they got the brake judder didn't seem to take as many miles.
Oh well, glad they fixed it.
