i just purchased my truck second hand, and it appears the previous owners worked/lived near somewhere that painted outdoors (i.e. shipyard) i got all of the paint off of the body and glass but there are still some white specs on the black plastic trim, like the mirrors and the trim along the bottom of the window. any clue as to what to use to get it off?
thanks

Try clay if the plastic is somewhat smooth. It works pretty well at getting stuff off without damaging the surface.

tried that, no real luck, thats what i used for the painted and windows, the clay got the tiny stuff off, but not the larger dribblets, the ones left are about grain of salt size, and its white paint, not really noticable, but just enough to drive me crazy

the paint that is on there, is oil based. so would something like mineral spirits take this off? also would the chemicals cause the black plastic to turn whiteish?.or would a better option be to sand the parts down and paint them?

If it hasn't been on there long, try WD40. It'll take some elbow grease, but it won't harm the paint that's been cleared.

its been there a good while, its srange, there isnt any of these specs on the paint just on all of the black trim. im thinking sanding and paint is going to be my next to best option.
