Are some of you guys using OBD-II computer on your trucks? What name brand do you use? Can you monitor all the different setting while driving like fuel pressure?

most OBD-II Scanners will let you read stuff in real time. I have never done it on the titan, but I use a predator on my track car, and it let me monitor in real time, but it only works on gm vehicles, or I would try it and find out for you.

There have been other posts here about the OBD units. Start by looking here :

I've been using autoenginuity's OBD II scanner. It works great. Gives you all the data in real time. I have the PC version, but they do have a Pocket PC and Palm Pilot version also. The only draw back is price. I think I payed around $180 for mine with CAN support.

My brother got one of the little boxes that you hook to a computer and it works great. It wouldn't give fuel pressure, but we were running it on an old computer in dos mod so that may be why. I remember someone here talking about what there fuel pressure was under load so I'm sure the scanners are capable of it. My problem is I don't want to have to run around with my laptop sitting on the seat every time I want to monitor something, I would prefer a hand held device. I don't have a palm pilot, but I do have a HP pocket pc.

if you have a autozone in your area, you can loan-a-tool scanner from them, and see if it has what you are wanting it to do. They have the handheld type, and it does do real time information. I have always used then to just pull codes, but I have seen it has a lot of menu options. It is a 180.00 deposit in cash or credit card, but when you return it you get it back. If it does what you want they have them to buy for 149.99 or the bigger kits for OBD I and II for 379.00 if you have different vehicles.

glad you were paying attention rossi. You were so facisnated with titangrl, you ignored the rest of us, didn't you!

Yes I am a race chick! I have a Supercharged Grand Prix (13.8 sec 1/4 mile), My husband has a blown Z28 camaro (11.9 sec. 1/4 mile), and a way modified WS-6 TA (12.0 sec 1/4 mile). My husband thinks I am the coolest, because I will wrench with him, and don't mind the mod money like some wife's do, as long as I get my mods to. That is one of the reason I went with the titan, because pulling cars from the track when you kill them can get expensive, if you can't do it yourself. We race at Sacramento Raceway doing street legal drags on Wednesday.

Don't go getting all excited though, because I will not talk to you like titangrl or guy.

LoL...Hey now..I'm not that bad!! You, Baja...and the other women on here...you can tell how you can talk to them and how you can't..... I think Baja would fly over here and smack me around for it....but then I'd probably like that so she'd change her mind.....LoL

That's cool though...if it involves grease...you aint getting my wifes hands on it I guarentee you that!!! However she does like speed....we used to have a pickle fork jet boat with dodge 440 six pack...I got to where if she wanted to drive...let me out. 80-100 on the water is just scary!!! Unless I"m driving ofcourse.

jtrich,

I have an OBDII reader that I purchased from www.myscantool.com a while back. Although the software has a few issues (won't save the data correctly), it has many more redeeming features. I can monitor numerous engine and vehicle sensors, and even run a virtual dyno (I can't vouch for its accuracy, but it's fun.) It also has a track mode that lets you record 0-60 1/8 and 1/4 mile times.

Of course it also allows you to read and reset system trouble codes. All in all, I think it was worth the $116 bucks.

You will need the ISO interface, if you are interested in purchasing one.

that looks really cool. I see the link took us to a different site, proscan, but that is what you have. For 116.00 I would be interested in something like this. Autotap is very similar, but it is a bit more expensive. Has anyone else used this, and knows how well it works.

so this conects to a lap top right???

it appears so, but I was hoping people who have it will chime in about that, and how it works for the money.

It sounds cool as hell when you read it....but if you do have to have a lap top in the vehicle...well I don't have one. I wouldn't mind having something...but it just appears to be software and the cable.

I know of at least two of us (JT and myself) using the cable/software from www.obd-2.com. I think it works well. Cost was $116.00.

Yes, I use it with my Dell laptop, although it requires a regular serial interface, rather than USB. I use a RS-232 to USB converter (less than $20) to connect the OBDII interface to my laptop (which doesn't have the old style comm port.)

Maybe I will get this soon, and we can meet up and use it on my laptop.

would be cool to see the times....not sure I would trust the HP and TQ readings...but maybe they are accurate????

I haven't tried the virtual dyno or the drag strip modes yet. Hard to find a clear straight stretch around here without one or two cops sitting on it.

I might go looking for a quiet country lane this weekend and give it a go. I'll post what I get here so you guys can point and laugh.
