: Does anyone in NC have a Borla exhaust?
Golfnut 08-30-2007, 03:04 PM I'd like to listen to the Borla exhaust system prior to getting my own. I've always been a big fan of Borla. I like the "understated" look and the quieter sound. Even my wife's Mazda tribute has a Borla system on it!
Other than that, I've seen that Dynomax has a system out (although it's not stainless) - and they usually have quieter systems (vs Flowmaster, etc...).
We're going for stealth here, folks.....at least sound-wise.....my experience has shown that the less your competition knows, the better......
jager2704 08-30-2007, 05:08 PM I can't think of anyone that has it...maybe Galen or Kronos will chime in. I have the flowmaster and it's loud..I'l be cutting the tail pipe soon in order to reduce the drone
Golfnut 08-30-2007, 07:44 PM anyone...............anyone at all...??? hello....is this thing on????
I was also considering just replacing the muffler with a similar sized Dynomax Super-turbo muffler. Back in my day those were pretty free-flowing mufflers while still being very quiet - nearly stock at idle, but a good rasp at WOT. Probably one of my favorite mufflers for those old 5.0 mustangs (with the true dual exhausts).

Don't do it Jager! I love the sound of that exhaust setup...
What size pipe is the outlet?
Street5927 08-30-2007, 09:23 PM I don't live in NC, but I can see if I can record a clip of mine within the next few days if you would like. I love the sound of my Borla.
Kronos1965 08-30-2007, 09:34 PM I just checked all my notes...
Everyone is running JBA, Flowmaster, Magnaflow, Banks, and one custom set up (that sounds like a drag racing cam its so lopey!)
No one had a Borla.
However I ran a Borla on my Pathfinder and there are several sound clips on the Forum so you can hear it. Sounds as you say mellow at idle and nice at highway. No drone whatsoever...

Golfnut 08-30-2007, 10:31 PM hey street, woud you please? I'd really like to hear it going down the road with the windows up so I can evaluate the dreaded "drone" factor. Also, just idling in the driveway or even pulling into your driveway so I can tell if it's going to wake up the neighborhood every time I come home.....
Sorry to make special requests...but (even though I like Borla's products) - that's a pretty good lump of change to be spedning on something you're not 100% sure of......no? I'd appreciate any and all vids / or soundclips you can come up with.
Thanks

I might keep it untill after OT, but I'm thinking of putting a lager tip on it .

You're right! I had you down for JBA and never even looked at your signature!
THE TRUCK by which all trucks should follow has a Borla and a nice sounding one at that...
galen 09-03-2007, 08:33 PM Had lunch over the weekend with Golf nut. Great guy.I dont think his wife likes me. His head was just spinning with modsand Dollar signs. Oh and Golfnut please do not say anything about the picture please. It needs to be a secret. Seriously.
jager2704 09-03-2007, 08:36 PM you can tell me....LOL Galen, did you talk him into making it to OT ??
Golfnut 09-03-2007, 09:40 PM nope - I know nothing (best SGT Shultz voice)........
Actually, I'm taking the family to Disney the week prior, so I might check out where OT is...just to see it, but I won't be there for the meet. Hopefully next time.
Galen - don't worry about my wife...she doesn't like me either...just kidding.
She has put up with a '78 Firebird Formula, an '88 Trans Am, and '94 Firebird Formula, an '02 WRX (sadly - she didn't get to "experience" the '71 monster), and now this.......most of those cars have had parts on the dining room table before......sometimes multiple cars at once......she's a very forgiving woman - or at least she was...........
I will likely not do too much to the truck, just intake and exhaust. It'll be a daily driver for me. But, I've seen some pretty interesting "projects" around town that I might start thinking about....

Anyone that knows who Sgt Schulz is I gotta meet!
Well, you'll pass right by OT on your way to Disney for sure. It's two exits down...
You can get a massage, tatoo, drink, ride a rollercoaster, buy dog novelties, and pick up a switchblade all within 300 feet!
jager2704 09-05-2007, 09:18 PM it was the hood! after seeing that hood, we didn't care about no exhaust! LOL
Kronos1965 09-05-2007, 09:37 PM it was the hood! after seeing that hood, we didn't care about no exhaust! LOL
Let's guess at Galen's mods...
1. hydraulic hood open/close
2. his Borla doubles as a VTOL!
3. compressed gas into the intake...
4. Paint that changes color when the temperature changes...
Golfnut 09-05-2007, 10:42 PM None of the above.
However, he explained that all of the body panels are "loose fitting" due to the fact that they expand into place when reaching cruise speed.
Silly me, I thought all of the bolts were simply shearing due to the G-forces applied during everyday driving.........

Got it!
Now that you mention that, I'm thinking he now went to NOS for his S/C!
Golfnut 09-06-2007, 11:47 PM They make kits that act as an intercooler for just such applications. I think it's probably like a 25 shot or similar - not really enough to affect a/f ratios, but still enough to drop intake temps......Galen's only problem is that he's running out of interior panels to mount more switches/guages on !!!!
As I'm sure everyone already knows - he's got an awesome set-up there......I could hear that supercharger whine long after the exhaust system.....sweet.

I fear that the wrong order he pushes some of those buttons/dials/knobs and he'll launch a nuclear missile.
He's got cameras, antennas, and computer hook ups that would rival Best Buy!
Golfnut 09-07-2007, 10:09 PM tell me about it..........
I'm sure there's electronic counter-measures in there also......
galen 09-09-2007, 10:12 PM Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!. Still working on mods. lol
