: The STRASBURG RAILROAD MEET on Sep 15, 2007 @ 8 AM
TitanBlue 09-03-2007, 09:58 AM The STRASBURG RAILROAD MEET on Sep 15, 2007 @ 8 AM
We had a lot of interest in getting the PA area Titans and MD/DE/NJ Titans together. One idea a lot seemed to like was to meet at the Strasburg Railroad in Lancaster, PA on Sep 15th, 2007. I have about 10-15 who already said they will be coming. So here goes:
STRASBURG RAILROAD - LANCASTER, PA
Parking lot opens by 8AM (maybe 7:30) and is Free
Thomas the Tank Engine is featured, with limited tickets available the day of the event.
Vintage Steam Train Rides throughout the day
Coach and Parlor Cars available
Thomas the Tank Engine is in town
Miniature Steam Trains too
Free Timing Advances from 8-9 AM.
See TitanBlue.
Lets all ride coach together at 10AM
Dinner at 5 PM at
"The Hershey Restuarant"
only 10 minutes away
Tons of stuff for a singles/couples/friends/families to do. The PA Railroad Museum is right across the street. The Toy Train Museum is just a couple miles away. This place is packed with Rail themed attractions. This is the #1 Railfan attraction east of the Mississippi! Beautiful Farmland Scenery. Bring your cameras and camcorders for this one! :)
I think it would be best for us to all meet up first (I'm arriving early, and will try to park at far end, so we can park together). Trains run about every 30-45 minutes or so.
For those who would like to, we can all go coach on the same run, say about 10 AM? Then go explore the rest for quite awhile. They have the best bookstore anywhere if you like train history. You'll find me there!
Dinner at: "The Hershey Restuarant" in Lancaster, it is less than 10 minutes North, at 5 PM. Moderately priced, excellent Amish/Pa Dutch cooking. They have menu or buffet. This will allow us more time to chat with each other and share what we all did, or just talk Titans! A great way to finish the day. Still leaves you time to get home the same day. Try the "Shoo Fly Pie", you're going to love it!
Check www.strasburgrailroad.com (http://www.strasburgrailroad.com/) website and various links. We're looking forward to hanging out with all you guys. We are staying at the Econolodge South, in Lancaster, RT 30 Friday and Saturday. So we should be arriving at the parking lot very early. I'll be in the Titan with the Flames!

slimjonesy 09-04-2007, 03:09 PM I was in Lancaster for the whole weekend. I might be able to make it, im not sure though. I would definatly come if someone had a leveling kit they want to sell for a good price!
LPTITAN 09-04-2007, 04:14 PM I might head up that way kids would enjoy the railroad. Its only like 90 minutes for me.

I don't have one for sale, but would gladly help with the install!
CRAP.......Why does all the fun stuff happen when I'm deployed!
slimjonesy 09-04-2007, 05:55 PM Thanks warrior, i might have one,but im not sure yet.
Pharmer 09-04-2007, 07:02 PM Did the railroad when my son was 4. I would much rather tear through wet cornfields!
TitanBlue 09-04-2007, 10:15 PM They may have some wet cornfields for you to tear through! Just ask first lol. :)
We're getting good feedback on this from various places. Should be pretty decent meet. I love a train! Hope to take the Shop Tour this time. Never done it, been going just about every year for 20 years. It is no doubt my personal, favorite destination. Everybody can find some fun at Strasburg.
LPTitan, I didn't get to meet you in NJ, I think you were there. Look forward to meeting you, need to check out details on your Hoodscoop, just ordered some hardware to help get mine functional and mounted, already drilled holes.
Slimjonesy and 54warrior, just don't steal my leveling kit when I'm out riding the train, I still want it! It is an excellent Mod, hope you locate one soon. It is amazing what a little thing like that does for the ride. :)
TRXR, thanks for doing what you do! If I may ask, where abouts are you? When do you think you'll be back? We can make a meet, just for you! That would be a great reason!
Kronos1965 09-04-2007, 10:58 PM Arrgh!
What's the big idea holding a meet where someone coming from the South would have to drive through that spiderweb/grid-locked/politician-infested/stop-and-go/everybody must be physicists because they all think they can occupy the same space at the same time/it's not a beltway, it's a parking lot stretch of road between Fort Belvoir and Baltimore?
You make it hard on a guy!

I learned to never take that route!
You need to find RT 301 North, just North of Richmond, from RT 95 North. Go through Bowling Green and Dawlgren, through Waldorf, MD. It will lead you to where you want to be. Backups, though they occur for a couple miles sometimes, are never like the other way.
See. I make it easy on a guy. :)

Ahh Grasshopper, you show wisdom worthy of your Titan...
Now I must find a way to introduce this possibility to my girlfriend...
nmbronewinner 09-05-2007, 02:12 AM I'll pass it by the wife and see if she wants to make a day out of it. Hopefully we will get a good turn out!
choppaboye 09-05-2007, 08:19 AM Just a side note:
To get the women to go, mention to them about the shopping malls close by: 5 to 8 miles from strasburg.
Rockvale and Tanger outlets

Thank you for the support! The Middle East is as detailed an answer as I'm aloud to give...LOL I'll be home around the end of October, and a mini meet is allready in the works with Red. I have mannaged to buy lots of stuff for the truck since I've been away, so it should be a lot of fun.
Street5927 09-05-2007, 09:36 AM I wish I was not working, or I would have definitely gone! I have been there before, and it is a great place! It would have only taken me about 1hr30min to get there too. Maybe there will be a Strasburg meet2 next year???? Hope everyone has a good time.
TitanBlue 09-05-2007, 06:35 PM Seeing as how I try to go once or twice a year, yep, Strasburg 2 has entered the planning stage! We are getting good responses from everywhere I've posted this, so it does look like a very decent turnout. I hope we can all fit on one coach at 10AM! And get tickets! Buy tickets asap that day. Their online system isn't in place yet, I was hoping to order ahead of time. But I'm sure everthing will fall in place. See you soon.
TRXR, thanks for the reply; now I do recall word of your homecoming meet from a several weeks ago. Be safe!
choppaboye 09-05-2007, 06:55 PM I cant make it there. Im going to be about 15 miles east of there(parents house). Im going to be setting up and attending an anniversary party all day. Too bad its not on sunday. Have fun
Street5927 09-09-2007, 08:17 PM How did Strasburg I turn out? Post some pics, and some stories, opinions, etc....

Bring your Skid Plates! I'd love to see them! You might be selling me some, later on. :)
If anybody is interested, I've got 3 items to sell. I'm going for a racier look, and still installing, a Truck PC, instead of using my laptop in the truck anymore. They all fit the Titan of course, sell for half what I paid:
1. T&H Bull Bar, mounts to the tow hook spot. Black Finish, SS Tubing. Very good condition. Used about 9 months. Single Tube, no secondary cross bar. Simple and Clean look. Bolts on in 10-15 minutes. Paid $300. So, $150.
2. RAM-MOUNT LAPTOP Mount, with extra tray behind, to hold power supply; bolts to the passenger seat, swivels anywhere, very sturdy, looks like new. Paid $240, so $120. Bargain for that!
3. Hella 500 Round Driving Lights (no wireing). Never Used, just mounted to the Bull Bar mentioned above. Paid $70, so $35.
PM me if you may be interested, I'll bring them with me for you to consider. No high pressure sales just to see them. I do want to sell them asap though, and not bother shipping them. :)
54warrior 09-10-2007, 07:51 PM Lights = SOLD

HERSHEY RESTAURANT INFO:
I called today to get a liitle info, just so nobody has any surprises.
They do take Visa, Master Card and Discover Card. (Whew! Some places I've seen, cash only)
Saturday Dinner Buffet Price List
Adults (13 and up) $20.95
Kids 9-12 $9.95
Kids 4-8 $7.95
They do offer discounts for groups of 25 who reserve ahead of time. I don't think we'll be able to do that, maybe nextyear we can, but I'm certain you'll love the food here. The full price is a bit higher than I am used to for a buffet, but it is worth it. It is far far better than the typical chain buffet. This is the good stuff.
We are still getting good responses from various forums, come on out Saturday. If you want to enjoy a culture, enjoy its food! Only 4 more days; hope to see you there! Titans at 7:30 or 8 AM, Train ride at 10 AM, Dinner at 5 PM...Titans, Trains, and PA Dutch cooking. it doesn't get any better than that! :)

slimjonesy 09-13-2007, 09:27 PM LOL, IM NOT GONNA STEAL YOUR LEVELING KIT, I DID GET ONE , BUT IM HAVING TROUBLE FINDING SOMEONE TO HELP ME INSTALL IT. WHOOPS,CAPS...LOL
I got a good deal on a topguncustomz leveling kit, im just not sure how to install it, and i really dont have the tools to do it.
54warrior 09-14-2007, 11:28 AM Looks like rain early in the am.
It's not hard to install Slim. Where are you located? Are you coming to the meet? My apt. is a few mins from the RR, but they frown upon working on vehicles there. We could do it in the RR parking lot though.
slimjonesy 09-14-2007, 06:23 PM Do you have the tools to do it? If so i will be there. i have another member who wants to meet me to buy some stuff off me. Let me know if we can do this and what time should i be there. Thanks!
Jeremy
54warrior 09-14-2007, 07:29 PM I'm planning to be there at 8 am.
The nut for the top ball joint appears to be a 20 or 21mm (the lower shock bolt probably is too). The largest wrench/socket I have is a 19mm. If you have a set of larger metric wrenches, we can do it. I just have my basic tool kit here with me, no room for my other stuff which is still back near Pittsburgh at my parents house.
It's really easy though. Jack up one side, remove wheel, loosen shock bolts, remove nut from ball joint. smacke spindle with BFH to seperate ball joint/uca from spindle. Remove shock, install spacer onto shock. Reinstall shock. reinstall uca to spindle. reinstall wheel. repeat for other side.
slimjonesy 09-14-2007, 08:01 PM Do you have a jack and stands? I have a 21 and a 23 mm socket
54warrior 09-14-2007, 08:09 PM I have a jack and I have some short stands that should work. If you have a couple small blocks of wood I'd feel better though. Sending a PM.
