whats up with this, after volant install now when I first start up the oil pressure is pegged on high. Comes back to normal after a few minutes but it is new. Could it be because I disconnected battery during install. Computer learning?

Have you changed brands of oil or weight?

Have you changed brands of oil or weight?no, only the battery disconnected and installed the volant. It is bad to have the oil pressure all the way to high?

Not really chef, if this occured directly after you unhooked the battery, then there is a chance it didn't sink up correctly. I wouldn't really go by what the gauge is saying at this point. Just for kicks, why don't you unhook your battery for a couple of hours, then hook it back up and see what it reads then. If it's still pegging out right after a cold start then you probably have a bad sending unit.

Is it possible after disconnecting the battery
to reset the computer, the RPM jumps up a little
on start up increasing the oil press. for an
instant????.....maybe??....possible??

man.. thats normal.. its like that on alot of vehicles to include my Titan as well.. its gotta warm up.. the high oil pressure when initial start is required to make sure that its well lubricated. Engine start up is hard on the engine.

I second that. Mine is always high. It starts almost pegged, and then it will fall to just above the halfway mark when it is warmed up. I have never seen my needle fall below the halfway mark.

Same her, I have to wait like 2-3 minutes to warm up, then it goes back to normal.

mine is at 3/4 on startup and settles to halfway once warmed up

when I accelerate, it rises to 3/4 or higher depending how close the peddle gets to the floor :P
