Hey,

What RPMs do you guys launch at? How long? Do you just smash the pedal, or "roll" into it?

I am trying to figure out what the best is, but so far 1400 is good for me. I just ran a 7.1 with it. I'm going to try 1100, then 1500, and 1600 next. See what nets me the better times.

just do a mash and go and Gtech your launches. after getting tuned you got learn all over. never ending. but pracite does help alot. here's a sample stage and go:

I launch from about 1200 rpm and was just the stall and go but now with the tune getting dialed in I'm gonna have to rethink this as wheel spin is now a issue :D

Yeah, wheelspin is always an issue!

I've only done one good launch, and I didn't catch at what RPM! It was agaisnt my friends 4.0 Tacoma, and he said it was over the start. Usually he gets ahead of me from the start, and I reel and pass him up.

I'll try the mash and go, and then the other RPMs to see what I get best with.

Thanks

Keep suggestions coming guys!

when i was in bama runnign the truck every friday night the best starts i got was from unhooking the brakelight sw to get more throttle with the brake on and loading the truck up. i would bring the rpm up to about 2500-2800 any more ant the tires would try and spin. them just stomp in from there. be forwarned that if you have stock tires and havent let the air out to about 25 psi the only thing you will get is a smoke show lol.

My best launch is a 2.09 60' with my snow tires aired down to 30PSI and staging at between 15 and 1800 rpm. I can't tell you for sure because I don't look, I listen to the engine and feel for the spot while focusing on the third amber. This along with a good burnout has yielded my best 60' times and I used to look at the rpms until I launched a dozen times or so and then got a feel for where I was at. Just remember, you can have a great run and loose to a guy with a slower vehicle but a better RT. I would practice your RT's as much as anything because anything over .1 is just unacceptable if you want to win. Shoot for .0XX and you are in the zone, anything under like a .00X is just a crappy attempt at a red light and not reproducible for most folks on a regular basis. I have only seen a couple of guys that can do it a lot but like a home run hitter, they get a lot of strike outs or red lights. Just shoot for .0XX and you should get plenty of base hits and a few home runs mixed in. By the way, at some tracks a .500 is a perfect light so you would shoot for a .5XX instead of a .0XX. Good luck and race like it's the last one.

Went to the track five times this year and never tried preloading the torque converter. Maybe next year I'll experiment with that. Each run I would mash the pedal right from the brake using the same foot.

Warp with UpRev I have a technique with Street tires and a Drag Radial Technique.

Without UpRev I had one technique...

With UpRev Street Tires: Stall up to about 1200 rpms....go about 1/2 throttle then when you realize your rolling with no spin drop it the rest of the way. I just pulled a 2.1 14.35@93.5 mph on street tires last week with this.

UpRev Drag Radials: Same stall....typically pull 1.9 60 times and I just stomp on it from the go. I have a open differential so I do get some wheel hop and spin if track is bad.

Stock ECU: Same stall.....most of the time at the track I could just mash off the line if traction was there. If not go 3/4 throttle and all the way when you register in your mind that your not spinning and moving. I pulled 2.1's all day and some 2.0s rarely like this.

Has anyone ever tried to launch in 4-HI. I was just wondering how this would be done and how had it is on parts. Cause even with my limited mods when I went to the track I was getting wheel spin till around 25-30 mph. but i wasn't really rolling into the throttle going to try that this weekend.

I stall at 1600rpms and mash! I put down consistent 2.0 60'. Stock tires with Uprev.

I wouldn't do it for two reasons: 1) power loss due to fully engaging the transfer case and front drive mechanism, 2) you're on dry pavement.

I do "launch" in 4x4 mode, but only when there is snow on the streets (and somebody to beat).
