: Cleaning your truck (or how compulsive are you?)

I expect to get blasted off the site for this one, but here goes: How many of you are neat freaks and spend about 4 hours to wash and detail your truck...every week? I do this usually every weekend. Problem is, I don't stop at just washing and drying my truck. I clean the fenderwells and apply Armor All to all of the plastic surfaces inside the wheel wells. I use Black Magic on all of the black trim pieces. I shine my tires (I use Black Magic Tire Wax Gel; it doesn't spin off and it lasts for weeks). I even open the hood and shine up everything under there; hoses, engine cover, air box, everything that I can get some Armor All on. I know that I'm mentally disturbed when it comes to my truck looking good, but I was just curious to see if I'm the only one. Anybody else care to 'fess up?

"Hi everyone, my name is Caltitan, and I too am a carwashaholic..." Actually, I only spend about one hour washing the exterior and wiping down the interior. If I wax, then another hour. Now I'm not a psychiatrist, but you my friend may definitely have a compulsive disorder.

I just spent about 5 hours getting my old altima ready to be sold, that's the worst thing, detailing a car for someone else.

What do you use for your dash and interior plastic? I used to use amorall but it leaves that oily residue. Yesterday I bought some black magic dash proctectant, anybody use it yet?

No, I don't have a disorder, CalTitan. At least none that I'll admit to! No, my friend, it's just a product of spending so many years on Navy ships; you spent 24 hrs a day on them out at sea, so you took care of your home. I think it all boils down to one thing: pride of ownership. There are so many trucks out here that are always covered in mud and look like they haven't been cleaned in years. I always attain a slight bounce in my step when I'm cruisin' in my truck and it's the cleanest, best looking vehicle on the road. Makes me feel good, ya know?
aaronsl2766, I use Meguiar's Clean, Shine and Protect on my dash and interior trim. Shines nice and after it dries it doesn't leave fingerprints when you touch something.

I wash my wheels weekly (darn brake dust) and the front of my truck (darn bugs). but I only do a complete wash&wax about once every two weeks. Only reason I do the wheels and face weekly is to avoid the dust and bugs to pit and damage the surfaces.

One question. If you do it every weekend, how do you know that it lasts for weeks?

Long time use of the product. Before I moved to Utah, I lived in Florida and didn't have to worry about washing off an inch of desert crud every few days. I went for 2-3 weeks at a time between shining my tires in FL. Out here, because of the dusty/dirty conditions, I use a tire brush to clean the tires real good, and then apply a thin coat of the gel. Thought you'd busted me for fibbin', didn't ya? I don't do that (get busted, I mean)!

When my life is not turnd upside down like it has been for the past few months, I will wash my truck EVERY weekend. I spend about 2 hours for inside/out cleaning with wax. I am ashamed at the moment because my Titan looks like SH#T right now. I hope to get it clean this weekend. It is going to take more than 2 hours for sure!!!!!!! :(

Not me, no sir....
Haven't washed my truck one time.
Don't want to remove the protective dust layer.

Will these things fit through a typical carwash if you fold the mirrors in? Maybe I'll try it this week, or next week, or when it quits raining.....

Well I finally broke down and washed the truck. I think I might have missed a spot. Might have to do it again... is this how it starts? First one wash then you can't seem to stop? I sure hope there is a cure

I washed my truck 1 or twice a week. It is a pain in @$$ to park my truck outside and it is black.

All my cars are black color. After spending $200 to research with is the best wax, I found 3M wax is the best one for your money. You can get it at any pepboys
