Has anyone changed the in-cab filter in a 2004 Titan?

If so where is it located and is the change complicated or difficult? Are the filters available any where other than NISSAN?

Thanks,

Isleander

Just to add. I replaced mine about a week ago. it took me no more than 10 minutes. The instructions in the owners manual worked just fine. Jettech has some great visuals though. Go for it.

I purchased a Dupont Gold AC filter at Lowes, I cut it to size and have no problem with it. It actually worked so well that I installed it in my girlfriends car also. The great thing about this filter is it only cost $10 at Lowes, compared to $48 for a factory microfilter at the dealership. If you get the 12"x12" you should have enough material to change the filter 3 times.

JetTech,

Sorry I didn't take any pics, but its pretty simple. I just did a rough measurment of the housing and cut filter using a pair of scissors. I didn't even mark straight lines on the filter. (Its one part that you can get by with having butt ugly cuts):D The filter I purchased had a wire mesh backing, you might be able to find a filter without it. I didn't clean-up any edges, but you could tape up edges if you wanted too. I used two of the corner pieces of the filter and when installed I turned the cardboard to the inside of the box, that way the wire wouldn't snag and make installition a pain.

Try it and let me know how it compares to the factory filters, my truck didn't have any installed before, so I don't have a comparision. The only reason I came up with this mod, was the fact the dealership wanted $50 for the filter at the parts dept.

I did a quick search over at TT, because I remembered someone who measured the filters. They measure 22.5 x 10.1 x 2.5 centimeters from what bestatchess measured. Thanks bestatchess!

As I posted somewhere else, the factory forgot to put cabin filter in my '04 copper 4X2 KC LE; so I have never seen the standard filter. I measured the space as 9" X 8" (1" thick) , but it won't fit in one piece. So, you cut 2 pieces 4" X 9". I did this with a 3M home AC filter ( if you get a big one you can probable get a dozen 4X9 pairs from it). The 3M had aluminum mesh on the suction side which is a good thing as you don't have a frame to support the filter.
I only have about 3hr of operation but everything seems to be working fine.
I sent a card that came with the filter to 3M asking them to make a 4X9 size filter; I guess I would be willing to pay $5 for a pair of 4X9 filters.
