: Gonna give it a try
Rossi 11-20-2007, 07:52 PM Well we've got some good weather here in Cali and I'm going to hit a bracket 1/4 mile tomorrow.
So far my best is 14.23 with a DA of 1200 I think it was. DA tomorrow will be around 0.
I just installed some JetTech poor man traction bars and I've done the ram air mod to my S&B intake.
I do have my TrueTrac, bearings, and races but don't have it installed yet.
So I'm hoping for some good times if I can get traction!!!
I'm thinking 14.08 @ 95.5 mph.
suddenurge 11-20-2007, 08:37 PM My guesstimate is a 14.11, good luck!
Rossi 11-20-2007, 08:44 PM Are you sure.....check this out....
5 pm Density Altitude -81
6 pm DA -343
7 pm DA -680
Last time I ran was before the ram air and traction bars and the DA was 1200 approx. That run was 14.23
dbolemiss 11-20-2007, 09:07 PM Wish you had time to put that true trac on.Should be some good numbers anyway.
Rossi 11-20-2007, 09:11 PM They did a Test N Tune Saturday...they always lay down the VHT big time on the track for Test N Tune.
It hasn't rained......so I think traction will be decent. Hopefully if I get traction the new Poor Man Traction bars will help me pull low 1.9 and maybe even a 1.8 60 ft.
The cool air should give me a higher trap speed....I'd be tickled just for a 13.99....
suddenurge 11-20-2007, 09:14 PM Traction hasn't been a problem where Rossi runs, so his added springs and ram air should knock off at least 1 tenth and the DA another tenth. That would put him at about a 14.03, but 14.11 with driver error...lol.
Rossi 11-20-2007, 09:24 PM I think.....hope the DA is worth a little more then a tenth.
72 degree air down to 50 degree air and high pressure.
I've got my fingers crossed....all I can do now is hope and speculate!
Not much driver error to be had in an automatic!!! LoL.....do burn out.....stop...mash pedal and go!!!
I need to find a horse jockey to drive my truck for me...that would be worth a tenth or two also!!! LoL I'm 290!
suddenurge 11-20-2007, 09:27 PM Yeah if you weighed 190, then 13.9 for sure. Let your wife make a couple runs, just don't tell us. Yes that DA should be good for 2 tenths if you were running mid 14s, but you're not.
Canadian Miner 11-20-2007, 10:49 PM I weigh 190, fly me down and I'll drive!
Do you think the helper spring/traction bars (~$26) are better than the Hellwigs (~$100)?
Good luck!

skeet 11-21-2007, 01:18 AM Rossi I hope you run a 13 something if that helps.
Papa_D 11-21-2007, 07:15 AM Rossi I hope you run a 13 something if that helps.I'll second that but I think suddenurge may be right. Once my time came down to 14.09, the DA didn't help at all after that but we can send you off to the track with well wishes anyway. Good luck man and I hope you can eek out a 13.
Rossi 11-21-2007, 07:40 AM The different temps affect my truck fairly drastically on Cipher 0-60 tests.
My truck drasticaly alters its timing values due to intake temps.
If the intake temps are say 75 degrees I'll only obtain a max timing of about 32 degrees.
Then on the other hand if my intake temps are 55 degrees I obtain 36 degrees of timing and the difference is very noticeable.
But there's only one way to lay this to rest....RUN!!!
RBsTitan 11-21-2007, 11:18 AM go get them and take that short belt just in case your very Very Verry close.
Warp09 11-21-2007, 03:39 PM You can do it Rossi!! We need a 13sec Titan in Cali!
Rossi 11-22-2007, 01:18 AM Well it was one bad night at the track. We barely got to run tonight...every other high performance car blew up tonight...it was very fustrating.
My traction blew for the most part.
1st run
60' 2.32 Spun big time!!!!
1/8 9.350 @ 75.843
1/4 14.542 @ 93.654
2nd run
60' 1.933 <~~~ Got right lane and hooked better but actually still spun.
1/8 8.996 @ 76.091
1/4 14.189 @ 94.433
3rd and last run before I gave up and left..and I left EARLY
60' it didn't record
1/8 9.024 @ 75.925
1/4 14.215 @ 93.558
I did three runs between 5 pm and 5:45 pm. I waited until 7:30..and car after car would drop oil on the track...so I left and ate something and drove my 1 1/2 hours home.
I would have run better as the night progressed if I could hook up....but gave up.
But all in all...even though I'm disappointed....I have to look at it this way.
I have now posted the 2nd fastest time for a N/A non cammed 2004-2006 Titan. Markislive the only time faster then me at the moment.
Conditions were 58 degrees, 30.03 bar pressure, dew point 37 degrees. So it was favorable.

Oh well, A bad night at the track is still better than a good night at work right?
Papa_D 11-22-2007, 09:25 AM Words of wisdom, a bad night at the track beats a great day at work anytime. Sorry to hear the track was such a pain and I had a similar situation last week and only ran 2 times in about 5 hours. You will have a few more chances to beat me because my next mod will be a ram air hood and I don't expect any gains from that but who knows. After the hood comes the 07 intake and RB tune and I may eek out a 13 with that. Keep representing man, the kids all love to watch the trucks, happy Thanksgiving.
Rossi 11-22-2007, 09:45 AM Before anyone mentions it...I haven't updated the time slip there yet. I edited my old best time so we would quit cluttering up Drag Times.
http://www.dragtimes.com/Nissan-Titan-Timeslip-13306.html
Shiftyb 11-22-2007, 10:02 AM I didnt notice anything. I get emails everytime a Titan make a new slip on dragtimes.
suddenurge 11-22-2007, 11:30 AM Rossi put down some good numbers and beat his prior best, that is what counts. I'm not sure what helped the most, the ram air, Jet Tech springs or the DA.

The RAM air didn't change my 0-60 cipher logs at all. I think I was getting good air prior to doing this.
I think my gain was due mainly due to the DA outside. I've pulled a better 60' before. Honestly the traction bars might have hurt me a little.
I slightly roll down my back window so I can hear my tires. On the first run I ripped the right tire loose bad. On the second run I hears probably 2-3 ft of slippage. Third run was about the same. All runs were hot lapped....three runs in 45 minutes.
With TrueTrac installed which I'm going to tackle tomorrow.......the traction bars will really help....the 2-5 ft of slippage I have now should go away. I'm certain I can pull 1.8 60' times.
I'll be at Infineon Raceway Sunday with the Hemi boys....if my installation goes well on the True Trac. So we will see if what I think is true.....
But all in all I did better my time. And I've got the 2nd fastest non cammed 2004-2006 Nissan Titan that has been posted. Only Markislive is ahead of me. I even beat Toomnymods pre cam time now in my crew cab. So I have the power....on the bottom...just nothing on top!
dbolemiss 11-22-2007, 04:14 PM getting closer, nice numbers. At least your going in the right direction.

What do you think is killing your top end?
sc186 11-22-2007, 05:19 PM What do you think is killing your top end?
\
Gearing?!?
markislive 11-22-2007, 05:23 PM \
Gearing?!?
Well that's what I think but Rossi swears his traps are the same with the taller stock tires....
I say some gearing and the rest due to his headers...his trap speed is off compared to the LT header guys...Randy's truck is a brick (5,300+lbs) but still trappin @ 95+mph...
I was still quicker in the 1/8th with a 2.05 60'...he is in the 1.9's... My ol' truck woulda been 13.8's with a 1.9 60'...A good top end can make up for a bunch...
Rossi 11-22-2007, 06:01 PM The one time I ran it with stock tires it did trap the same....I only did it one run and ran a 14.39 I think it was.
I think gearing is a problem though. And I have the stock fan pulling in the motor.
And your thinking about headers the wrong way. A short tube is supposed to be for top end...a long tube for low end. Unless the Titan defies phisics and works the opposite.
I'm happy with my truck and what she runs and the fact that she's fully legal in California.

I know you are in the tree hugger state and JBA's are the only way for "you" 2 go, but long tubes are used in hot rods for a reason, ya think? If LT's made a ride slower they would not exist....I only give you a hard time because you will not admit that more "overall" power can be had with LT's....LOL! When we try so hard meet aggressive goals I gotta pick with ya if I think you are leaving “some” power on the table...nothing personal just trying to help...
I agree with you on top end and ST's to some extent, it's certainly what's "supposed" to happen with ST's. The tube diameter is what determines your Tq peak... The longer the primaries the more bottom end Tq you will have below (lower rpm) that Tq peak…The shorter tube is “supposed” to have more Tq above that Tq peak (higher rpm)...So we hear that anyway right?
BUT...I see your trap speeds (real dyno IMHO) and I also see your dyno. Higher "peak" HP numbers have been had with LT's, which goes against how it's "supposed" to be right?....I also seen Shalieys dyno and a few other dyno's on the JBA's and see the exact opposite of what you read right? From the dyno’s I’ve seen JBA actually has more Peak Tq and less peak hp right? I take into consideration the stuff I read online from the so called guru's but I just can’t look past personal observation…
Your whoopin a$$ and takin names on the bottom end but nothing up top....there has to be a reason...
Do you have any of your ol’ dyno jet files so we can compare curves…

Rossi 11-23-2007, 02:14 PM I can't deny that the Titan seems to run opposite as to how it is supposed to work.
And I can't deny it...if I could afford it I'd try some long tubes!!!! LoL
But all in all she's running pretty well. I probably am leaving some on the table. 14.18 isn't too much to pout about....but it's still not enough. Would LT's get me there??? Maybe??
A cam.....definitely....
I feel you Mark!!! Don't worry about offending me brother!
markislive 11-23-2007, 02:32 PM Would LT's get me there??? Maybe??
Well I just look at your 1/8th mile....How the hell was I faster than you in the 1/8th when I only had a 2.05 60' and no weight reduction? I would think your aggresive gearing would outshine, atleast in the 1/8th…. King calls my ol' truck a freak of nature, but I believe there is a logical explanation for everything... I did have fans, and a“sealed” RAM intake… I just think the minor things really help out when you add em' up especially when you’re swinging for the fences like us…
Look at Donnie….he ran a 14.11 before drag tires.. 13.88 after drag tires….
Drag tires woulda put my ol’ ride in the low 13.8’s with a 1.9 60’. You can get there also....well you weigh 75lbs more than me but I think you can go 13.90 once you find that sweet spot...I'd like to find a jockey for my horse also...LOL!
Give them stock tires an "honest" shot once that trutrac gets installed...get ya a few runs in and make sure gearing is not an issue with your top end...
