How should I go about drying off this badboy in a more timely fashion? It takes me 30-45 min to go over it with the sponge but takes at least an hour to dry it? I use multiple microfiber towels. What do y'all use?

I use a leafblower on my Armada! Seriously! It works fast, you just have to make sure not to make contact with the paint. And wear ear plugs if you want to be able to hear when you're 80 years old.

Well I'll be darned. If I washed my Titan at home more often, I would go out and buy a leafblower just to dry it. Good idea.
I use one of those synthetic chamois towels. It comes in a plastic tube that is slightly flat on one side. I bought it at Pepboys.

Move to Colorado. The humidity is so low that it dries itself. Not that you'll like results but at least you didn't have to dry it. :)

You don't know how HAPPY I am to see this post/ reply. I get made fun of by every freakin' person in the neighborhood (including my wife) when I use my blower to dry my vehicles. I hit them with the blower then a quick towel wipe around the doors/ gate/ hood and to catch any drips. I've been doing this for years and it takes about 15-20 mins total to dry (longer if you count every nook and cranny on the rims). But, most of the time they get the quick "blow-dry.

I would worry about using a leaf-blower because it could hit your car with high-speed dust, and leave lots of minute scratches...

I already have to go get my truck washed and waxed properly (the drought means I can't do it myself), because it's already got spidering from the way the dealership washed it on delivery!

I currently use the california blade also but only covers the big flat surfaces. The chrome front of our trucks practically attracts water spots... grrrr

BUT!! santa is bringing me a new pressure washer!! and was wondering if i could use a spotless rinse concentrate in the little bottle reservoir that feeds & integrates into the pressurized water. Maybe a solution like these? anyone know?

LOL, me too - they all think I'm crazy & anal (well, OK, can't argue that point).

I use a Black & Decker battery run blower (uses the big 18V battery), not as loud as the gas ones, was cheap to buy ($60 @ Lowes) & is light & easy to use.

After washing my truck I remove the sprayer nozzle and run a nice stream of water over the truck so most of the water sheets off. if you have a nice coat of wax or sealant on your truck all that will be left are a few beads of water. if I have time I get out my Vac 'n Blow mini detailing vacuum/blower and blow the water out of all the little cracks around the emblems, side molding, tail lights, etc.

The final dry is with a huge waffle weave microfiber towel. I can dry my whole truck w/o having to ring it out.

Sorry i seem to always link to autogeek but that's where I buy all my stuff, lol.

http://www.autogeek.net/waffle-weave-drying-towel.html

http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/autogeek/satin2854.jpg

there is a smaller one too if that is too pricey. I got 2 last year when they were buy 1 get 1 free.

it's much better than waffle weaves you can pick up over the counter such as Meguiars. I have a Meg's one and it doesn't do the job so I just use it to clean my windows.

I've converted a lot of chamois users to this after demonstrating how well it dries.

and yes, my neighbors think I'm crazy when I'm out there with the blower hanging from a strap over my shoulder with my sound muffling earmuff things on blow drying my cars lol.

i tried a leaf blower once but the air spread out too much before it got to my car so the water just spread out instead of running off my car. The vac 'n blow has a tapered attachment that concentrates the air so it does a much nicer job. it's great for dusting off the car/truck also when it doesn't really need a wash.

OK. I'm defintely going to look at the water blade. Thanks folks.

i only use the water blade on my glass now after putting a couple nice long scratches on my supra.

I was also careful to run my fingers along the blade before each swipe on the car and i could never feel anything but something was there i couldn't see or feel. then later I was dumb and thought I'd give it another try and sure enough put another scratch in my car.

with the huge Guzzler drying the top of the truck is also very easy. just spread the towel out and throw it over the truck and then drag it towards you. the only water left will quickly evaporate.

good luck!

he said he uses multiple microber towels so he must not be using a waffle weave microfiber which will dry a lot faster than the microfiber towels used for detailing (yellow costco ones).

Yea I don't have the "waffle weave". Plus it's harder to make black clean :D
