Fellow Club Titan members, please take a moment today to honor veterans both past and present. Regardless of your feelings towards our current situation in Iraq and Afghanistan, please remember the young men and women who are serving our country with pride and professionalism in very dangerous circumstances. They are all volunteers and they are all answering our countrys' call. Most people in this country don't have any idea of the sacrifices made by our troops (regardless of which service they represent) in peacetime, let alone in wartime. They suffer long separations from their families and friends, often in ardous conditions, and God knows they don't get paid nearly what they deserve. Their sacrifices enable us all to speak our minds, to do as we please, and to live our lives in freedom and safety. Our veterans serve our country regardless of politics and personal feelings; they care only about preserving our way of life and doing whatever it takes to ensure that the United States remains the beacon of freedom and democracy in this often troubled world. So, if you see a young man or woman in uniform today, go up to them, shake their hand and offer a simple "Thank You". By doing so you will give them the only reward that they seek by serving our country: your respect and gratitude. I say that from personal experience, having served in the Navy for almost 21 years. Nothing-the medals I earned, the advancements in paygrade, etc.-made me feel more appreciated than having a stranger thanking me for my service to my country. Sadly, it happens all too seldomly. So, please, go out of your way today to thank a vet; it's the greatest reward that they ever hope to attain. For all of you veterans in this forum, I offer my sincere appreciation for your service to our country, and I wish you luck and happiness in all that you do.

I am thankful for the veterans alive and those who have passed. My dad's dad was in the Army in WWII and my mothers dad was in the Navy in WWII. My wife Dad was a marine he saw no action though and her mom's Dad served in Korea. They were all good men and served their country well. I hope the troops that are seeing action as I type this are kept safe and realise that they have people who support them 100%.

Something I saw when I traveled to Atlanta last weekend. There were a lot of military guys traveling also. I was very impressed with the amount of people that would walk up to them and shake their hands, and thank them for their service. The mulutary guys seemed caught off guard a bit by this, but was good to see!

This kind of discussion makes me glad to be among you. Thanks for your service also, OLD SALT. Thank you is the greatest gratification a soldier/sailor receives.

I appreciate the comments. I don't have much more to say about this right now. Sometimes I get caught up in the emotion....Thanks, WO. I appreciate it. Vector6-welcome aboard, shipmate! BiXLL, thanks for sharing your observations. I'm sure those kids appreciated the recognition! Thanks to everyone who commented on this subject today.

I forgot posting yesterday, but what I dont forget is the service and sacrafice you have given and who others are giving today for our freedom. From a young age I have always appreciated what our military servicemen and women do. My Uncle piloted a helicopter in the Vietnam war, and my father in-law has spent time overseas in Desert strorm and Iraqi Freedom. From my family to yours, we thanks those that are serving and have served in our military forces.

I am just getting to this thread and I wanted to post my appreciation to the men and women of our armed forces serving at home and abroad. Their sacrifices will not be forgotten!

Just a side note. I heard Howard Stern the other day bashing people who have yellow ribbons on their cars. He said, "If you believe in the war so much you should go over and fight yourself." I thought to myself how much of a jacka$$ he is. How does he know that the person who has that ribbon on their car hasn't lost a son/daughter, husband/wife, or mother/father in the war?

I have friends overseas right now and I take offence to comments like that. Just because you have a ribbon on your car and you are not in the military, doesn't mean you are a hypocrite. I am not in the military! I support our troops! If I could go and fight I would! If they call me to do so, I will!

These soldiers fight for HIS right to say that he doesn’t support the troops. How ironic is that!!!

(Sorry! I didn’t mean to go on a rant, but I hate hearing these liberal Hollywood a-holes who would rather have a Socialistic government than the democratic Republic that we have.)

It IS IRONIC isn't it. Those people have NO IDEA what it would be like if we didn't fight for those rights!. I wish those people could go and spend sometime in one of these other countries where they basically have NO rights, much less be able to speak out about thier beliefs.

And thanks to everyone one who HAS served, IS still serving, or SUPPORTS the soldiers. I can say after 17 years of it, that if they called me back tomorrow.....I'd still go! Got to LOVE the USA!
