Why Would I pay $300, to have some guy "Service" my Maintenance-Free Battery? (for Example)
chefbob 06-18-2005, 08:54 AM I like the part about adjusting the rear brakes.
Have to admit that my wife would be a person that would jump on this offer. She is hard to control.
Redright9 06-18-2005, 10:36 AM This is why they send these out..Many people just wait until they get a letter instead of being pro active about it..But these are all just time triggered mailers...

Yeah, thats a bit high (I bet there advisors make good $$ then, hehehe) If I did those services "al-a-cart" at my dealer, it would come to approx. $240.00-250.00..But usually when you put a service together the point is to lower the price some by grouping it all together...But yeah, most of that you can do yourself...(really all if you wanted to..) One thing that has always cracked me up (All dealers do it even mine I admit) list a ton of inspections to get thie list to look bigger..Yes, my tech do check a lot and do a great job (IMHO) but we do overstate inspections too.

I know when I took my truck in for service the first time they said they did a #point inspection whatever it was cant remember that nissan was offering at the time free of charge and they said all was well. I guess I shocked the guy when I asked him about the low diff fluid that apparently they missed that WAS part of the check. I deffinatly question some of these inspections myself.
Redright9 06-18-2005, 12:57 PM I know...I remember that inspection deal going around..Basically all my techs (not at this dealer, the other Nissan dealer I worked for) did was open the hood, checked for leaks and the air filter, check brake percentages, and look underneith for leaks, then recomended a bunch of flushes....Its a crappy deal for both ends..(customer and advisor)
Kingoftheroad 06-04-2006, 02:00 AM What a JOKE!! $300.00 for an oil change, tire rotation, oil the door hinges, and the rest is "inspect & change if needed". Thats a pretty pricey oil change!!
Griff80 06-04-2006, 09:47 AM My GF always used to do that crap with her Tiburon, every single time they sent her a letter. The tranny started jumping and skipping around 30k and it had to be replaced, we let them put a new one in and traded it a week later
Poppa_Titan 06-06-2006, 09:52 PM As it turns out the "Free Tires For Life" is a "Free Load of Crap".
They told me that I had to get all of my maintainance done at the dealership in order to take advantage of the deal. I think it is a load of **** and I went in there several times before the day in topic and they didn't say anything...just that my tires were not low enough.
Also, the day in topic was the day before my inspection was due to get renewed. I sat in there for an hour and a half and still nothing so I went up to the desk and they said..."Oh, yeah...we can't inspect your truck and we cannot give you your tires."
shailey 06-07-2006, 10:53 PM I have found that there has only been one "mileage service" that was actually worth doing. On my Q45, the 60,000 mile service was very expensive (about $1200) but it was actually worth every penny to the majority of people. It involved an new plugs, engine flush, fuel system/injection cleaning, trans flush, coolant flush, a/c check, tire rotation/balancing, resurface rotors(pad replacement if necessary for an additional $65 per axle), filter replacement (air/fuel/in cabin), wash, wax and detail. It also included driving a G35 for the day while it was all being done. There were other things on the list, but I cannot remember them all. Even though all of that being done at one time was quite expensive, if you priced them out separate, it was about what you would pay anywhere.
But I have never seen another mileage service worth what you are asked to pay.

Yeah well, you also get GIVEN a car to drive when you take an Infiniti or Lexas in for service too. Not for a Toyota or Nissan though. I think that is a total crock of crap too because my Nissan cost more than my mom's Lexus did.
