According to Joe at Volant, who I spoke with a few days ago, the new lids are still a couple weeks out. I have the new Ver 3 CAI, and the lid sent out with it is a temporary one they fabbed out of an old lid. They will be sending me out the new aluminum one when it's ready. Don't know who's right/wrong, just passing on what I was told.

I'm in if it's the Ver.3 with the new lid. If not, I'll probably hold off a little while until it's available.

Not sure why people make these type posts. They really bother me when a sponsor of the site comes up with a good deal for everyone then someone finds a deal only $3 less and posts it in the supporting vendors thread. I myself would much rather spend $3 more to help the sponsor of the site. Also by buying from a sponsor you are able to talk to them and get info straight from them. I really dont think its very polite to make this kind of post. I understand you may be trying to help someone save a dollar or two but $3 is not much. If it were $20 difference I would understand. Maybe its just me and maybe I am wrong on this but thats how I feel.

Easy there, didnt mean to step on any toes. I just saw a lower price and figured it would be helpful to post it. I didnt want to start a thread about it. $3 isnt a lot but it is still cheaper. I wasnt ripping on socalmotorsports for being $3 more expensive. Just thought I would post the cheaper price to help out. Spoke with Joe from Volant today. He says they still have about 30 of the V2 boxes at the factory, and there still may be 100 or so in circulation between dealers. So it looks like it could be a while yet before the V3's will be out.

I believe that the first 2 generations of CAI that Volant put out had filament issues and fitting issues in the Titan. There were several reports of heavy vibrations, poor lid fitment, etc. The Gen. 3 is said to have fixed many of the existing problems that the first ones had. If I were you, I'd wait...

The buy hasn't started yet. I just went to the Volant website and there are more and more pictures of the V3 kits so HOPEFULLY we will get the green light on the buy soon. I have been holding out to receive your new version 3 Cold Air Intake. The current Distributors I am working with haven't received the new versions yet.Have you or when do you plan to start to ship the new versions. I am very interested in purchasing some of the new versions. Also are you in the process of making a programmer or exhaust for the Titan? I currently use a banks exhaust. I understand the market demand for the titan is not as large as the domestic brands and therefor its hard to allocate the resources to complete these projects. I do however believe the Titan is gaining in popularity and will soon take a large share of the the domestic market. If you look at the specifications and reliability results the only thing holding people back from converting to a foreign truck of better quality are ego's and ignorance.

I don't know what they are waiting for, I guess they want peoples to start buying AEM or NISMO intake. I can wait but I can't wait forever.

It seems like it's been a real looong time, but I've only been waiting on this for about 5 weeks. But a Nismo intake is starting to look real good.

What happend to a week or two?! When the hell is SEMA?! THIS SUCKS!! I want to get an intake, if the NISMO one gets a good review I might just go that route. My exhaust is begging for an intake. I think we have all waited long enough....

I had to look it up, but for those who are ignorant to what SEMA is. Here is a little data dump. SEMA is the Specialty Equipment Market Association. The SEMA show is scheduled for November 1st through November 4th in Las Vegas.

Therefore, I assume the Version 3 from Volant will be available shortly after the first week in November.

Volant has been talking about the alum lid on the gen3 since the last SEMA show. It seems to be right in line for release with the other products they announced last November that are part of the V3 performance line. They have been on their website for the past 10 months and still are not available for sale.

I couldn't wait any longer and bought the gen2 version. It fits and works great - can't figure out what the concerns are unless it is the material that makes up the lid. If you really want a Volant, I think the gen2 works just fine. Plus, the desire for gen3 seems to have reduced the cost of gen2's to less than $250 shipped!

Another thought could be that SEMA show is the time when manufacturers release new products and prices. That may not the case here, but something dramatic must be happening for them to hold inventory until November.

If you haven't been to a SEMA you should find a way to go. Get your local performance shop to add your name to their list. It is like a candy store of truck and car parts that takes about 3 days to see it all.

It draws cooler air in from under the front wheel well, and has enclosed airbox to prevent sucking in hot engine air. So maybe ill open up the intake in the airbox and drop in a K&N air filter. Seems like $40.00 is cheaper than 250 or higher. Someone chime in here..

Well the frontier owners all seem impressed by it. Now its down to this the Nismo, volant, and that fujita one, if info ever comes out on it. I didnt think picking an intake was going to be so hard.

I was waiting for the gen3 from Volant but like jacksFL I got tired of waiting. I ordered and installed a gen 2. It installed without any problems and is working just fine. :dance2:

Nismo looks solid. I don't think we're talking any more than 2HP difference between either one of them. I think what will be different is the sound of the air sucking in and how loud you like/dislike it between the two.

im leaning toward the AFE, their system claims more torque and judging by the frontier review and dyno their claims are for real. He also said it didnt have a whistle like the Nismo. How is the Volant performance? Anyone ever get a dyno of their results. I am really liking the AFE right about now but the volant and that fujita one are intriguing... ah decisions decisions. I want to wait on the volant one because it makes me wonder if the lid is all they are changing if they are waiting for SEMA.

I am looking for a intake as well, but reading all these posts has left mind-boggled. The Volant V3 is coming out in Nov. and if what I read is true that the only thing they are changing is their lid? Does and aluminum lid make a differece? All I know is I want an intake with a heat sheild, becuz Texas is hot! What about Cool Air induction is it worth it?
One more thing I would love to go to SEMA but I dont know any dealers that I can ask to put me on the guest list, mainly cuz I work in afghanistan but I will be home OCT. 30 for so much needed rest...anyone know of dealer that might want to do me that favor if not it's cool. thanks guys.

I noticed on AEM's website they are showing a new model number for the Titan Brute Force Intake and it indicates it is "pending release". I called around before I bought the Volant gen2 and nobody had them yet. The new part number is 21-8502D. Has anyone found it available yet?

Yes, i called hopup racing yesterday to confirm that it is the new dryflow synthetic filter. That is what the D stands for.

I just talked to Tony from SoCal Motorsports yesterday. He has a shipment of 30 CAIs coming in this week and they are all 3rd generation. Let's rock & roll. He is waiting for at least 20 guys to place an order with him. He has 8 not including me.

Had my AFE 4 days after ordering, and it was backordered. I waited on the Volant since July. It's too bad that they think that teasing the customers is a way to motivate sales. It looks like there is a lot of pent up desire for this type of product, judging from the action on the AFE buy.

Sounds suspiciously like Volant wants to collect all the defectors to the AEM Brute Force with the dry filter that is already shipping.
