Anyone in the Houston area know of a good deck builder?
I want to build a wooden deck in the backyard and was seeing if you guys have anyone to refer me to. TIA

Hey Fanz. I got one here at work, but he is in the middle of a huge crating project. I will get you his info, along with a time frame of when he will be available if he can. If you are in a hurry please disregard.

Same here. If you decide to go that route, I'd be willing to come over and help. I've built a couple of decks in my lifetime and used to frame houses for a couple of years so construction is not new to me.

BBF, If I lived in Texas I would come give you a hand. Decks are pretty simple. I have done quite a few in my lifetime, and enjoy them the most out of most projects that I get myself into. Good luck finding someone and give us some pics when you get the project complete.

I "wood" sure recommend using 2X6 decking instead of the "5/4" crap that kits and plans call for. 2X6 is twice as strong and twice life for same price. And put the "cup" side of the lumber facing down.

That's good information. I'm actually planning the construction of a deck in my back yard and have been planning on using the 5/4" boards.

Don't mean to jack your thread BBF, but I'm also looking for some patio help, however I'm looking for someone that can build a covered patio. Anyone know of someone here in Houston? We're looking at 2 different options. One is a regular covered patio with fans and lights that matches the house (shingled, etc.) and the other is a double decker patio - meaning a covered patio with a deck on top of it with railing but not covered up there. Would need stairs that would go up to the second floor from the patio since there won't be any access from the second floor (maybe one of those metal spiral things) - does this make sense?
Anyway, if you guys know of anyone, please let me know! We're ready to get this thing in there!!
Thanks! Again, sorry BBF...
