Hey guys I'm taking the Titan to the strip tomorrow nite. Its the last night of the season before they shut down. I have never run at the drag strip so its new to me. Any tips at all are welcome. This all came about when a guy at work checked my truck out while shopping around and he really liked it. Then he decided on a Hemi instead and hasn't shut up about it since he got it. Always the Hemi will spank that Nissan this and that. Well I told him put up or shut up. So tomorrow nite we put them to the test.

I raced my brother who has a new Hemi. I totally smoked him off the line, and he never caught up. I drove the hemi and felt that it strengths were on top end. The Titan seemed to have way more low end and and mid range. If you can get off the line without spinning the tires, you shouldn't have a problem. Good luck.

hold the rpm's to 2k with the brake and then feed it the throttle at the green. Don't slam it to the floor because it will cause the torque demand system to retard the timing. Just let your right foot go the floor without any slamming and you'll smoke'em with no problems. Can't wait to hear how it goes. Get lots of pics!!

Well so long as he gets off work in time we will go. As long as everything goes well and he is there I will have my brother film it. Then Ill post it up for everyone.

Shed some weight off the truck. Drop the spare tire. 1/8 tank of gas. Remove the tailgate.

Watch the tree lights during other peoples runs and get your timing down. Is he modded similar to you? If not and you beat him with your mods he'll likely use that as an excuse.

Good luck.

the only advice I have is to place a large wager with the guy who owns the Hemi, you might also want to make sure all of his friends are there and maybe even his family.

Go get em Big daddy...I tried going to the track last weekend but Richmond Dragway had shut down for the season   so now i have to make a road trip to Dinwidee.

I now have even more of a reason to go to the track and see if my exhaust and the Volant will get me in the hi 14's. Volant finaly came in today and can't wait to slap er on...

Can't wait to see if the G-Tech was close or not...

O yeah with my Dyno before the addition of the Volant saying 340HP at flywheel and 400 torque again I hope it's hi 14's for me, Im also gonna do another Dyno after the Volant as it will be interesting to see the difference it makes...

I'm confused some people on TT say higher octaine is worse for me to race with and some say better. Any thoughts guys. There's a lot of different factors that go along with the quality of gasoline other than octane rating, mainly additives and different refinery techniques by manufacturer. How a specific engine is designed to take advantage of that octane boost also matters (i.e., designed for better fuel mileage or lower emissions or more horsepower). I would expect the differences would be difficult to measure. Perhaps a true dyno run of each octane rating under similar conditions might yield a feasible answer. As for your race, I wouldn't worry about octane to improve performance nearly as much as the amount of fuel in the tank.

When you are at the track try some unleaded racing gasoline. My bet is that you will see some improvement in performance. And if you have lots of time hop onto VP or Sunoco gasoline websites. There is a mountain of information there.

Sam
