Purchased my 05 Titan, with an exsisting 6" lift. Aftermarket tire, wheel and performance mods. So I purchased an extra, 3year 36,000 mile warranty. Should I have went with, the warranty knowing lifted vehicles void some warranties?:duh:

You may have problems depending on how the warranty
is written.
Also, I'm not a laywer:) but I have read that those
so called warranties are legally insurance polices & do
not offer as much protection (M-M Act) as a true
warranty.

I think it all depends on the dealership, and their service department. Some have had no problems or been hasseled because of lifts, while it's been an entirely different story for other owners.

my steering rack was replaced no problem under my extended warranty and i never had any issue getting anything fixed under warranty...I'm lifted also

As far as warranty and a lift goes. The lift will void out the warranty on the parts the lift affects. I.E. suspension,steering, tranny. If you have problems with your truck and the lift somehow affects the affected part the warranty company does not have to cover it. I am assuming since you bought the truck used the warranty is not through Nissan but through some other company. If that is the case the decsion to repair your truck is not made by the dealer but by the warranty administrator. So in short. Good luck getting anything fixed

i heard from some people and some dealerships that if its installed at the dealership or if it comes from the dealership like that, that there is no way it can void the warranty causethe dealership sold it like that and most likely installed it theirself... but thats just what i heard..

If you recently bought the warranty and have not made any claims you should be entitled to a refund for the unused portion. I remember when I was 18 and bought my first truck the dealer pulled a scam on me and told me that if I bought the Extended warranty I could get a lower rate. Well I fell for it. Young and dumb. So my dad found out and flipped out. He read the warranty contract and it stated that as long as I had not made any claims I could get a refund for the unused portion. I only had the truck a month so I got back a full refund minus a process fee. So read your warranty contract every single word and I bet you can get a refund. The contract should also tell you what you need to do to get the refund. If you owe money on the truck the refund should be credited to your loan.

If anyone ever buys a customized truck/car from a dealer. Get in writing that all modifications not made at the factory is covered by a manufacturer bumper to bumper warranty nationwide and backed by the manufacturer of the truck/car. I bet they won't give you that warranty in writing. Because customized changes do not come from the manufacturer but are made by the dealer. There are some exceptions to this. But as far as lifts go I would follow this rule. Do not take a dealers word ask for it in writing even if they say it is in the warranty booklet.

Not quite, my extended warranty is refundable at anytime, the refund amount would be pro rated. Check with the company you bought the warranty from, you may be able to get a refund upon termination.

I'm reasonably sure if you buy a new lifted 4X4 from the dealer that lifted the truck, the lift & everything IS covered.

this is not entirely true. As i stated my truck is lifted, by me, with the procomp 6" lift. My steering went out last month and they covered it under warranty. I also had other issues that were covered no questions asked under warranty, all while ive been lifted. I can understand suspension parts not being covered, but there is no way they can deny you warranty work on other parts without bulletproof evidence that the lift caused the issue.

if the TITAN is bulletproof as I assumed it was, why purchase a warranty anyway. Obviously normal wear and tear, are not covered under any warranty I am aware of!

Some people like to talk about dealers selling lifted trucks &

I seriously doubt that Nissan is going to warranty the truck.
The dealer probably bought an aftermarket warranty or
is going to cover the damage himself.....or is full of BS.
Remember the No Fear Titan has a DSI drivetrain
warranty, not Nissan.
Why would Nissan possibly want to warranty another companies
parts or damage caused by those parts?

I don't think there is a 100% answer. The more mods, the more
extreme the mods the more you are at risk.......and a lot
depends on dealer attitude. Many people have not had warranty
problems with leveling kits (front lift) if it is not too obvious.

This truck was bought at a Dodge dealer, with a Fabtech 6" lift so nothing was warrantied due to it being used. So no warranty for the kit, or the install. I have no current issues with the lift, or the vehicle. But if a problem was to arise, wondering how much would be covered?.

That's hard to say because it will probably vary by dealer.
The DSI No Fear Titan warranty covers a lot of
stuff creating the impression that the Nissan warranty
might be at risk on those items.

Ok the dealership that i talked to about this said.... I asked what will happen with my warrenty if i lift my truck?... they said if you buy the lift from us we will turn are heads and warrenty everything you need. if you buy the lift from somebody else then you will void the warrenty. This mayb true but then they have to prove that the lift caused the deffect or the problem. Take them to court on the coz and they will fix ya up.

A aftermarket warranty is not endorsed by the dealer. The dealer does not make the decsion to cover a part or not. They troubleshoot then spend hours on the phone with the warranty Admininstrator. The warranty admininstrator decides weather or not the part is covered. Keep in mind the dealer may leave some information out about your truck (i.e it's lifted or you jumped over a dune doing 80 mph and your struts are F&^%^ed.) So as long as the admininstrator does not want to inspect the part or truck you should be able to get anything that needs fixing. The dealer wants to get paid so when you use a aftermarket warranty it's like going there with no warranty except the admininstrator pays the bill not you. The dealer can and will inflate prices as long as the price is with in the allowable charge. I got this info from my Father-in-law who is a Manager at a Nissan dealer for 13 years. So this info is reliable.
