Hey guys,
Looks as if I am relocating to Hazleton, PA for work. Is there any life out there? I actually trying to find a decent gym, apartment/condo...and anything where you might be able to hang out with a 30 something crowd.

I am about 20 minutes from Hazleton. It is just South of Wilkes-Barre City and about 35 minutes south of Scranton. There are some good gyms in the Wilkes-Barre area...depends on how much you want to spend per month. There is also some life out here....but you have to be cautious as to where you choose to go. There are also some good food places here, we have a decent mall, and just about anything you can think of that you would want to do....skydiving, golf, bowling, clubs, fishing, etc. etc...and the list goes on and on...however, the one thing that you missed which just got shut down is Paragon Off Road Park, which was just outside of Hazleton. It was a cool place to take your truck, quad/dirt bike and mountainbikes. When you get closer to moving, pm me and let me know, and I can fill you in on anything you ask or are wondering.

I'll definitely be at carlisle. I'm just looking for a pretty nice apartment/condo close to a nice gym/bar (you know applebee's..pub...etc.) I'll be working just off of 81 think it's called West Hazleton.

Too bad Paragon closed up.
It does suck, but from what I read in the paper recently, the owners are still trying to appeal the decision stating the company that they had the lease with violated the terms and conditions of it. We will see what happens.

I grew up about 10 minutes from Hazleton and still have relatives there. Will you be working in Hazleton? Which company? If you can do the drive, I would look for a place outside of the town of Hazleton. There really isn't anything to do there. No real apartment complexes...deflinately no condos. Not much a night life to speak of. The area is definately going down hill. Like Street5927 said, you have to be careful where you go. I can't speak for Wilkes Barre but I can for Hazleton. I would try looking more towards the Wilkes Barre area (north on I-81) or even towards the Poconos (east on I-80). It really all depends on what kind of things you like to do. If you are looking for more of a country lifestyle, local-type bars, fishing, hunting skiiing, NASCAR, then you will like the area.
My parents live in Hazleton and I live in the Poconos so feel free to PM me and I will be more than happy to answer anything you wish. Good luck!!
