Talked to Flowmaster today and they are about 4 weeks away from releasing their exhaust kits for the Titan. They wouldn't get into specifics as to which series would be available, just that they were wrapping up the R&D and getting ready to start initial production.

Any idea of the approximate cost?

Any idea of the approximate cost?I didn't ask and I doubt they would have told me. I would expect it to be in the range of the kits they sell for other full size trucks.

The first Flowmaster exhaust kit for the Titan is out. Dual outlet (side or rear exit), 70 series muffler, retail price of $660.99. I guess I will be waiting to see if I can find it for wholesale price somewhere. Here is a link to the system: http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/cgi-bin/flowmaster/17406.html

Acting on tips that the Summit Racing web site (http://www.summitracing.com/) may be selling the Flowmaster dual cat-back exhaust kit for ~$409 with free ground shipping, I decided to give them a call. The guy I talked to didn't know whether or not the FLO-17406 part number listed on their web site was for the Titan (it was a recent entry in their computer system with little info). He said if the Flowmaster web site shows that the kit's part no. is 17406 then it should be the dual kit for the Titan. Even though Summit Racing is currently listing it as a back order item shipping after 1/15/05, he was able to set me up as a special order for a direct ship from Flowmaster. It will still be only ~$409 with free ground shipping and if Flowmaster has it in stock it will ship out in a few days. He is going to call me back on Monday and verify that it is for the Titan. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I'll post on this when I know more.

$409 shipped? thats a steal for a bolt on kit!

If they had this ready back when I had my exhaust put on its what I would have bought. Wasn't much out then though. To have that setup as a bolt on would be great. No cutting no welding. If you needed to you could bolt the original right back on really easy if you needed to take it to the dealership for some reason. Thats also cheaper than any of the other cat backs I believe. Much better than the original price of over 600.

I received the Flowmaster cat-back exhaust kit today. I've attached the parts list, diagram, and install instructions so people can see what parts it comes with and what the installation would involve. Bought it from summitracing.com for $417.34 with free shipping (they actually had it shipped directly from Flowmaster to me). The retail on this kit would have been $660 plus ~$73 for shipping (Nor Cal to So Cal). The muffler is a 70 series (single 3" in - dual 2.5" out).

M4ckI'm scheduled to take my truck in next Monday to have the body work done from my accident a few weeks ago. If I can resist, I will wait until after I get it back to do the install and take pics. I will also plan on making a sound clip of both the stock exhaust before I remove it and the Flowmaster exhaust after it is installed and broken-in.

Guys, let's say you ordered the new exhaust kit from Flowmaster which includes the 70 series muffler. Later, you decide the muffler is not loud enough. How easy would it be to take the 70 series muffler off and replace it with a 50 series?

I don't see where it would be a problem at all John. Muffler shops will generally install anything you want. I bet the 70 series will be plenty loud enough, I had the 50 series on my last Titan and it was really loud and resonated like crazy....

If the 50 series muffler is the same dimensions and in/out locations then I don't see why not. However, the kit has been designed and engineered for the 70 series and you may end up with loud drone in the cab or possibly less HP gains if you swap out the muffler. I would call Flowmaster's tech line and just ask them what they think about putting in a different series muffler on the kit.

Dale, CalTitan...thanks for the replies. I have been all over the place trying to nail down an exhaust that sounds like what I want. I am down to the Flowmaster and the Gibson. I know Dale has the Gibson and likes it and CalTitan just received the new Flowmaster kit. Cal...I will be most interested in your review/opinion of the new kit.
Happy New Year.

Outstanding! I may just have to jump on this now. I was going to wait until I got my taxes back but at this price I may have to jump and put it on the card. Hmmmm I wonder how I can get this past the wife? lol.  8O
Thanks for keeping us updated. I am really looking forward to the pics and sound bites. I hope the repairs look great and you are happy with everything.

It has been tough holding back the install until my truck gets the body work completed. It has rained a lot this past week and with my wife and daughter both sick with colds plus the Holidays I just haven't had the time. Body shop says they plan on having the truck back to me by Friday so hopefully it will go on next weekend. I'm picking up a rental truck tomorrow - either a F-150 or Silverado. And no, I will not be thrashing it because it is a rental. No pics of me doing donuts or burnouts with it.

I don't think anyone here would ever do anything like that. MUAHHHAHHAHAHHA

Just wanted to post an update. After more than two weeks, my Titan finally came home from the body shop. Most of it's time there was spent waiting for parts to arrive. The truck looks great again. I managed to put the Flowmaster cat-back exhaust kit on it and it performs great (single-in, 70 series, dual-out). The exhaust note is signature Flowmaster aggression without being annoying. It purrs at idle, growls at cruising, and roars when I step on it's tail. I'll post a new thread with the install pics and before/after sound clips when I get the time to put it all together. Plan is to spend my Saturday installing the ceramic brake pads and ss brake lines from our group buy. 8)

Great, Caltitan.....can't wait to see and hear this system finally. It may just be the one I end up scrappin my AeroTurbine for.......OMG 8O can't believe I just said that! I like the Aero.....but this new Flowmaster just might be "the one". Are you by chance planning any dyno runs?

Also, if you don't mind, when you're snappin pics, could you snap a close up of the y-pipe, please? What are your impressions of the fit/finish of the system? Thanks, man.

im thinking of dual 70's with an X pipe is this a wise decission for someone that has a stock audio system with a dvd player in the back (well for now the audio is stock, im about a week away from buying a kicker L7 15")

i want fairly loud outside but i want as little noise in the actual cabin

or should i try to find a dual in single out 4" (im not to crazy about dual but i want decent sound)
