has anyone experienced these problems besides me: went four wheeling yesterday moderate hills and rock and everytime i had my truck under serious load you could feel the 4wd unit disengage...mostly happening climbing steep hills damn near causing us to roll once because when it disengaged we started a roll backwards and the brakes did nothing but slide... a bit scary!! also in reverse i hardly had enough power to back my way up and over a tiny hill , and overheating ..one thing after another not a good day for me and any info or possible causes would sure be appreciated i have schedueld an appointment with the dealer and all i can say is if this cant be fixed i will be trading in for a jeep

i don't have a 4wd. the fly on the wheel tcase these new trucks have i think are stupid. what happened to the good old fashion manual shifters? i think dodge is the only one that still offers it. that's one reason why i didn't get 4wd.

you want a offroad rig, don't get a jeep, get a older generation pathfinder, if you need a pick up, get the old 4x4 hardbodys. you'll be punking jeeps all day.
what you're describing i don't think is normal. it shouldn't be disengaging especailly when you're 4wheeling. but check out your manual, see what would cause it to disengage it.

I've never had 4wd disengage on me (when I didn't want it to). No overheating problems. I did have a problem getting up a hill once, but some new tires fixed that.
