: Seat mods for tall and wide guys?

After having my titan for a week, and taking it on a 4 hour trip today, I'm coming to the realization that Nissan's engineers didn't have my 6'5" 320lb size person in mind when designing the driver's seat. I have a KC with the SE popular and captain's chairs. Has anybody done any fabrication to move the front seat back a couple of inches, and has anybody added some foam to the seatback to fill out the lubmar area? My back was killing me on the way up to phoenix, on the way home I slouched down in the seat and it was much better, but I'd still like it softer. Do these seats break in over time?

I can modify the seat brackets with my handy plasma cutter and welder. I would move them 2-3" back and I'd raise the front mounts up 1" to make the seat hold me in better. I'll pull the seat this weekend and look into making something work.

Can I use the stock nissan seat covers and add strategic padding under them? Are the leather or Armada seats better? Does the front driver's bench fit any different? Is there something else I can try? My last option would be to put some kind of aftermarket seat on my side.

I'm really happy with the Titan, but this could be a deal breaker for me. I won't be able to trade/sell it for at least a year, so I need a solution. I can't imagine I'm the only big guy who is thinking about this...

Thanks,

Mitch

One of the things you spoke of I tried on a car. I
unhooked the bottom of the seat back & pushed some
foam rubber up to get more lumbar support.

I'm sure you probbly tried the obvious things, but I had some trouble after my wife drove the Titan and made a bunch of adjustments. With Popular SE and Captain's chairs you have adjustable brake and gas pedals. Punch the switch and make sure they are moved down all the way. That was a big improvement for me. Also, I noticed my power seat was not lowered all the way. This gave me more headroom. Then the most obvious, I moved the seat all the way back. I feel for you. The seat back takes some getting used to, even though I'm only 6'0" and 270. Hope you can make something work. The Titan's too good to give up!

I had the adjustments maxed out today. Moving the seat further back by 2" should straighten out my legs just that little bit more. My leg rests against the center console, I'll probably make a small pad for long trips. The rise on the front mount should put some support under my legs and make me flle less like I'm going to slide out of the seat. I'm going to try a small pillow on the seatback and see if it helps. I was thinking about getting the nissan seatcovers and lining the seats with extra foam before installing them. I'll probably try some generic covers first to test the theory.

Worst case I'll get a mastercraft or corbeau seat for the drivers side and fabricate some mounts. Unfortunately my woman is 5'2", so the seat needs to be very adjustable.

If I can comfortably drive a honda civic for 6 hours I should be able to drive my truck as well. My Ford was a regular cab with captain's chairs, I fit fine. I ruled out the SE Bench option because the width of the console was not comfortable for me.

Thanks,

Mitch

Did you find that the lumbar adjustment wasn't enough, or just not in the proper location for your height?
