I installed OEM bug deflector yesterday. Here are my opinion on it:
Scale from 1 to 10

Fit: 9

Look: 8 because of the screws. You can see the screws from outside. It will be a 10 if they some how design to hide the screws.

Installation: 8 Easy to install but the instruction a bit confussion.

Ease of use: 6 The Clear rubber pieces under the bug reflector make it hard to clean/dry the hood space between the bug reflector and the hood. It is hard to to take out and clean the hood and install it back in if you have to.

Over all, it has a good look costmetic design but bad engineer design.

Tyltan,

Thanks for the review. Good job. I have been wanting one, but hadn't heard how people liked them.

Thanks again and if you have any other reviews please post them the same way. I like how you broke it down by category.

get one, I love mine and they do a great job of protecting the front of the hood.

I have the same one and I agree fully with the review post. To clean beneath the bug shield I use a baby bottle brush with soft bristles. It usually doesn't get very dirty under it.

Here are the pictures of it.
Finally, I have time to take the pics

Yo hold a minute does that thing screw into the hood. Or is that my eyes playing tricks on me. I swear the screws look like they go straight into the hood. Please tell me they don't.

They screwed in the bracket that "hooked" into the hood. There are clear plastics adhesive between the provided bracket and the hood.

Try to find the after market bug reflector which does not expose the screws. I don't think I can return me since I installed it already

I thought there was a company that made one of these things that bolted to the underside of the hood so the only thing sticking out on the outside of the hood was the deflector itself?

Just got a Lund deflector as an anniversary present. Will install when the weather warms up next week. Attaches under the hood, so no visible screws. $58.50 at an accessory warehouse. Corner auto parts store may have it for less. Will post pictures when completed.

Careful ordering from e-bay. I know someone that got the one there for 40 some dollars and it is real flimsy. It is taking his paint off in the middle of the hood from when it flexes in at high speeds.

I've had my OEM deflector on for a couple months now. It is holding up fine. I'm glad I got it.

I had an OEM deflector on my Pathfinder...it cracked after about a year. Maybe just luck of the draw? Not too impressed with that. I've also had a Lund on my old 3/4 Diesel, still going strong after 8 years or so. Went with another Lund for the new Titan.

Hmmm What year Pathfinder was it, Nissan has a new vendor for the Side Vents and the Hood Protectors as of 2004.
The OEM one does fit nice, and will not crack under Normal operation (LOL what the heck is Normal Operation??) But I have not seen any come back cracked, unless you count the ones that were shipped, and cracked by the shipping companies.

It was an '02. Bought the deflector at the dealership, it was fine for the first year or so-then just cracked wide open. No signs of deterioration prior to breaking. I don't know, anything could have happened. Maybe a rock hit it and it poped later on with temperature changes. Like I said, could have been bad luck.

Sounds like on of the old Vendors, we had some problems with the older ones, especially the sun roof deflectors

Could be-never had trouble wth the sunroof deflector though, just the bug shield. I replaced it at the time with a new one, it held up fine until the car got totalled.

Hopefully the Lund on the Titan will hold up as good as the Lund on the old pick-up. It sure looks nice.

I had the OEM bug shield and ventvisors on my 02 Pathfinder, no complaints about them. I am thinking about the OEM bug shield for my Titan now, just need an authorization number.

I just got one from JC Whitney, 36 bucks shipped!!! Strong, solid and looks perfect. Just screws into the existing holes under the front of the hood.

Can anyone, that got the Cabela's deflector, tell me how that one is installed. I really like the look of that one. Plus it will make all the damn cowbot wanna-bees around here jealous. (for the record, i am not a cowboy by anymeans) not that there is anything wrong with that if you actually live the "cowboy" - farm lifestyle.
