Socal Motorsports is currently working with the Glass Works on their new Ram Hood for the Titan. I was down there yesterday and saw the hood and it is awsome. Keep in mind it is non-functional. It comes in a gloss white and is CRATED for shipping. We want to offer a group buy on this to help everyone out. If we can get orders for 10 hoods we can sell them for $399.95 each. We Must have 10 orders to offer this price.

Shipping breaks out this way:

Midwest, East Coast, Great Lakes and the Plains areas $135.00 to a commercial address and an additional $65.00 to a residence. West Coast - Ca, WA, OR, AZ $90.00 to a commercial address and add $45.00 for a residence. Nv is $115.00 to a commercial address and $45.00 extra for a residence.

That's it!! This seems to be the only hood on the market so far for our Titans and take it from me it looks great. Tell you friends at Titan Talk about this as well.

I think it looks badass but even though it's not an uncommon practice to have non-functional hood scoops, I just can't wrap my mind around it. I'd hate to have something so badass be fake. I'd love to see someone put one on though.

I agree...badAZZ! But, It's a bit pricey. I'd rather pay $400 for something that was functional though. It would be different if I had some big blower or something on the Titan. At any rate, it's beautiful!

It is nice looking, but non functional is not functional for me...

If I ever had to repaint my hood (please, never!!!) I would go for the hood scoop. Since the snorkel for most every air kit pulls air from the front, making the hood scoop functional would be of little purpose but would allow rain water to get in.

I am not in to the hoods, But would like to help tony out, by saying this is a great price. The hood on the GTP cost me 650.00 and it was used, and I still had to repaint it, so if you have thought about it, scoop this deal up.

I love this hood too. In fact, when I was gettin hail damage repair, this hood was goin on if they had to replace it. But they didn't. :tears:
And if you think about it, just how functional are the funchtional hoods anyway?

Id like to buy that hood. I even have the $ but my wife'll freak. I just did exhaust/cai last week for 550.00. Maybe latter although I doubt I'll get a deal then.

i'd buy it if it was funtional...

why doesn't someone make a functional one?!?

Cost is why they don't make one.

It's easier for a customizer to buy a scoop, cut your hood and then install rather than have someone build a hood from scratch...

Yes, I am going to get this....there is no reason for it to be functional if you have purchased the Volant intake anyway, which I have. Also, I am wondering if the "gloss white" is the Nissan Blizzard white that our trucks come in, since I own the white. Hopefully, it is a match. I definately want this hood, and have been waiting for it. I dont have much else to upgrade....do they have the chrome euro tail lites out yet? I still need to do those, also....

I guess I am a little confused why anyone would want a hole in their hood, unless you have a blower or some other need ram air from the hood....if you have ever had a functional hood scoop before, you know that twigs, dirt, rain and grit ends up covering your engine within a day or so of cleaning. I detail my engine compartment each time I wash the truck, which is weekly. I personally don't want the extra grief to clean...besides, depending on which style of hood scoop seal that you use, that can be its own separate mintenance issue.

Personally, I like the idea of having the looks of a ram air hood scoop, but not the problems that are associated with it....the best of both worlds. I saw someone mention Keystone hoods, what do they look like? I really like the dual scoops that Ford puts on some of their trucks....but this one is very nice also.

Here's the keystone site: http://www.keystonerestyling.com/. They are supposedly working on one for us, but it's not out yet. I really like the look of their other hoods though. They are functional as far as having the scoop do something - incoming air is channeled through ductwork built into the bottom of the hood and into your intake box. As far as "ram-air" is concerned, this is pretty much non-existant at speeds below 70mph. Basically it will do you absolutely no good from a standing start. The real benifit is "cool-air" NOT "ram-air". :)

I understand. I am only calling it "Ram air" because I already have the Volant COI & the intake spacer. I guess my only point worth making is....with the configuration of our engine compartment, you don't have much room to bend your air into the intake from the hood from "functional" scoops, unless they are way up at the front of the hood...

They obviously are not producing the functional scoops, and I wonder if it makes sense to do so....the Volant system pretty much does the best that can be done for cool air intake, by pulling from the wheel well or underside of the front. There is a COI intake system out there (Air Raid, I believe)that has a collection box that has the top open with a seal on the top for sealing up against the underside of the hood....and I purposely stay away from those kind due to my earlier comments about maintenance, sealing, etc.

I have had several actual hood scoops and all of them seem to allow water and twigs inside the engine compartment....and I loathe spots and trash sitting on top of chromed out engines...

What I would really, really like to see, is a Titan (preferably mine, ha) coming down the road with a blower sticking out of the hood....the woody I could get from that wouldn't let me sit down for a week...lol.

At $400, I would definately put on a fake hood scoop, just to kinda break up the lines on the front of the truck....the short stubby front end of a Titan already looks like it can't get enough road to eat...then, you put on a custom hood with a scoop, functional or not, it has got to look killer sic....

I checked out the Keystone site you sent.....thats some really nice looking stuff as well, thanks for sending....

my hood was damaged pretty badly by a rock on the freeway. my insurance paid for a new hood, paint job, and install. i was told at the body shop that if i ever needed it painted again it would cost 150-200 dollars. p.s. the hood is definately a "functional" head turner!!

I just order mine but its taking them forever to get it to me. Over 3 weeks now. The tracking number they gave me said it was shipped to UHaul in Tampa. I live just outside of Philly in Jersey. I getting pretty aggrivated that I wanted it in time for the yournissanparts.com meet and greet...now all I have is the hillybilly hood scoop that I got off ebay and installed. The one I kick myself in the *** everytime I see the cheesy piece of poo. That was money I could of used at a rub n tug.

*edit* I didn't order it from John and SoCal. That was my first mistake.

Who did you purchase the hood/scoop from? It wasn't from us (SoCal Motorsports). This is a thread started by a SoCal Motorsports rep. and I do not want others to think we are the ones at fault here.

Please clarify for the other members who it was you purchased from.

Thanks in advance,

I had the scan guage before I had my hood installed. On a 90 degree day my intake air temp was 125-130 degrees. With the keystone hood i now have a 20 degree drop in intake air. This is without the airbox that is supposed to be fore the hood. The hole opens up right above my injen cai. It made a huge difference. I cant wait for colder temps just to see what it will do then.

John,

It definitely wasn't you guys. Sorry that I wasn't clear on that with my earlier post. I ordered it from another company (which was one of my first mistake...I didn't know you offered them). It's been a total nightmare. It was suppose to be drop ship and I know the order was place with Glassworks but the follow up has been less then craptacular. I just hope that this isn't the "normal" way Glassworks works. I've been halfway tempted to just cancel the order and start all over personally. Last update was that the head cheese at Glassworks was on vacation last week and none of the peons were capable of finding out what exactly is happening with it. Either way I won't have it for the Yournissanparts Get together this coming Saturday. That what really pisses me off.

Every one keeps saying you get all this junk in motor with open scoop and you do not.I have driven in some heavy rain and i quess by the time the water travels the two feet of sheet metal to the air box it evaporates. You see 2 to 3 tenths better 0to60 gains and lower intake air temps.I will be adding a screen some were in the future just to be safe.

I've been looking and thinking too hard about hood. Rain would probably not be an issue but, sand, dust, saltwater, mud, leaves, insects, etc. Where I go with the truck, I don't think I would get the same results with the stuff that ends up on the hood.

I am going to lowes and getting ether sceening or they have sheet metal with holes in it and I am go put on front of scoop.Or I can drill holes in the plastic cover that came with the scoop. But I real do not want to mess with that I can put it back on and scoop is closed off.Or i can make plastic templates of that and drill holes. There are a lot of options.I use a prefilter over my Nismo cones so any duster or pollun when it does get bad gets cought in that.
