So, to unwind after this past week's terrible mid-terms I spent all afternoon taking care of my Big Girl. Didn't get to change the oil or detail the inside like I wanted, but now we get to spend some quality time on Monday too.

Be careful, these pics are a little Risqué.....

Thanks guys! I had a lot of fun doing it. I used the Mother's clay kit and Meguiar's NXT tech wax (liquid). I've used the clay kit from Meguiar's before but I think the clay from Mother's is easier to use, (more pliable) and overall it went pretty fast. 4 hours altogether.

lol. Yeah it took me a while but it was relaxing; beautiful day and me just alone with my truck and my iPod. Back in '07 was the last time I seriously worked on my wife's car: wash, claybar, polish, wax and it took me about 6 hrs. Hers will be getting the royal treatment this coming week.

Clay bar is amazing. If you think your vehicle is clean after washing, use the clay bar and see the amount of contaminants that are left behind by washing alone. If you are going to buff/polish/wax/seal, you should definitely clay bar to remove any contaminants so you don't seal them in.

How do you know if you need clay bar. There is a trick to this...other than buying it and seeing if any contaminants appear on the bar. Wash and dry your vehicle, then get a thin plastic baggie (sandwich baggie). Put your hand inside it and glide your hand on the surface of your vehicle. If it sticks or catches, then you should definitely clay bar. After clay barring do the same thing, and you will see that it doesn't catch or stick at all.

would you guys recommend clay barring the entire vehicle, or just where needed. how was that nxt wax? so many products out there, just want to get some decent wax that doesn't cost too much.

Looks beautiful. For those folks thinking of doing this, remember to remove all the old wax first using Dawn or another dishwashing liquid. It goes a lot faster once the old wax is gone. For those front suspension pieces you're so proud of, a shot of Meguiars Trim Detailer works wonders -- it shines the bolts and everything else underneath.

Yeah man, claybar the whole thing; every painted surface. I've really liked the NXT wax so far~haven't had it on there long enough to give a good review, but it was easy to apply and remove. I've used Zymol in the past and liked that too.

Thanks! I'll have to get ahold of some of that trim detailer.

The Meguires clay bar works pretty good. You really need two of them to be effective. They act like you are buying C-4 explosives or something. LOL.

Truck looks ready to go have some fun now!

Yeah man clay with remove everything but the PAINT! :D Make sure when you clay that you don't let anything get dry. I used about half a bottle of the detailing spray that came with the claybar on mine ~ spraying before, during, and after followed by wiping dry with a microfiber towel.
