The wife and I are in the market for a camcorder and I thought, since I have noticed we have some intelligent folks on this site, I would get input from you all on what you have. I want to know what you like about it and what you don’t like. Also let me know any special features and how they work.

Now let me tell ya that I am not a “camera” guy. I don’t know all the technical stuff and if you give me any input, please act like you are speaking to a child. LOL If you throw out all this technical jargon I will be lost!

I have been looking at the Sony DCR-HC30. It looks like it has some nice features. I like the fact that the battery will let you know how much record time you have.

It also has a Carl Zeiss® lens. Being a hunter I know that anything that Carl Zeiss makes is the best quality you can get.

Any input you all can give me is appreciated. Let me know what you have and if you like it or not.

Thanks,

Marc

I bought a Sony camcorder (DCR series) a few years ago and have never had any prbblems with it. It still holds a good charge and takes quality videos with decent sound. I love that it can also record in widescreen which looks great when played back on a widescreen TV. When I was checking out camcorders I chose the Sony for their reputation and because it was easy to use with a host of features. Try to find out how that model is rated by Consumer Reports.

Caltitan,

Thanks for the info. I have spent all morning reviewing other models. I have been in the market for a few months now and thought I was set on the Sony, but after some more research I am leaning towards a Canon ZR90.

Your info has made me think hard about the Sony again. I'll let you know what i go with.

Thanks again.

Well Caltitan, it looks like you were the only one who cared for old K9 here! LOL

Anyway, I ended up going with a Canon ZR90. Got a GREAT deal on ebay and I couldn't turn it down. I got all kinds of extra stuff with it, so I went ahead and ordered it. Now I just hope the baby doesn't come before the camera!!!! 8O 8O 8O Nothing like waiting til the last moment!

Thanks for the info anyway.

LOL - I guess there are a lot of people who are too much into their turkeys today. Sounds like you did your homework and you're good to go. Cannon's are good camcorders too. Just don't get too involved taking videos of your future kid that you miss out being a part of what you're seeing through the lens. I hope everything goes well for you both (and that Titan continues to recover). Don't forget to post a poll so we can help you pick out the baby's name.

Thanks! By the way, we have a name already for the baby. Lauren Amber, but I will be posting a poll or a thread to help me pick out a name for my new work partner.

I am already thinking of some names, but I want to see him/her before I name it. If you know of any good names for canines write them down because I will be asking for input in the next few weeks.

Thanks again,

Marc

I looked at one that burned onto a DVD too, but the extra money to me wasn't worth it because I have a DVD burner on my computer. I figure this way I can do more editing and make the end product a little better. We shall see!!!!!

Oh and DeesT, I know you have my back...10-40 - Code 1!!!!! LOL
