: Door panel removal - Help???

I'm trying to remove the door panel on my 2005 SE to swap the mirrors. I followed the steps from this pic:

How much force is required to remove the armrest to access the hidden screw? Does it pull straight up? I really don't want to break it. Once that is out does the panel slide up like a Ford, or pull straight out like a toyota? Are there plastic push fasteners that need to be popped out around the perimeter?

Thanks,

Mitch

Pull the armrest up. I slid a putty knife under it to help.
I have pulled the armrest off 3 times. It is tough.
There are plastic fasteners around the edge of the panel.
I don't think the panel has to be lifted, just pulled out.

Titan57,

Thanks for the quick response. Are there any other pitfalls to watch out for, like the window switch harness or door lock mechanism?

Thanks,

Mitch

yeah that armrest is a bear. You'll almost feel you're gonna break something. there are 3 clips that hold it in. I broke 1 cause I pulled towards the side vs. up. So remember up w/ lots of force.

when you pop the door panel there are 2 cables attached. 1 holds the door opener and the other for the lock .

you should have 3 harnesses to disconnect: light on bottom door, door lock, and speaker.

The speaker is connected to the plastic panel instead of to the metal door??? I'll see for myself tomorrow. I'm only swapping my mirrors out now, but I'll be back in there with the dynamat and some new Boston Acoustic speakers in the coming months.

Thanks,

Mitch

OK, Thanks. I've got a KC anyway, so no rear tweeters. I'm not even going to wire up the rear speakers when I do the stereo...

Take some pics of the removal and post them for future use if you can. I can see getting into this later.
