Jackalope 08-25-2005, 04:13 PM Do you have tracking numbers Jersey?
Thanks,
Jackalope 08-25-2005, 09:24 PM I got an invoice today for the Retrax stating "PAY THIS AMOUNT"
Should this be marked as PAID?
No cover yet ...
CATitan 08-26-2005, 10:31 PM Still no truck cover!
Hay Brian, where is my tracking number?
Anybody get theirs yet?
jerseyparts 08-26-2005, 11:04 PM Nobody got a tracking Number because, 1 i am on vacation this week, and 2 Group buys are large orders that are shipped at one time, and some manufactures do not give tracking numbers on one time bulk orders going to seperate destinations.
I will contact Retrax on Monday and see if they can supply me with Tracking numbers or more info.
I'm pretty sure the UPS man hates me. I got the cover... No rails. Oh well.
I'm happy it will be here next week and I can't wait to install it.
Thanks for the buy Brian.
CATitan 08-26-2005, 11:48 PM Somebody made it seem like the cover would arrive this week?

jerseyparts 08-29-2005, 02:19 PM OK, I am back in my cubicle, and ready for work!
I called retrax today, and about 2:00 I got tracking numbers for everybody, but alas, I don't know everyone's screen name, so If you want to email me, and let me know who you are, I will give you the tracking number... I didn't want to publish everyones real name here...
CATitan 08-30-2005, 08:53 PM Finally got my Retrax as we place it on the bed noticed it's dented! :x It's the end that butts up to the tail gate hard to see straight on but from the side very noticable.
Also was missing 1 long allen head bolt so I'm off to the hardware store to find a replacment.
Very suprised about the build quailty seems a little flimsy. Easy to install should be about 1 hour for two people providing all the hardware is there.
Jackalope 08-30-2005, 09:06 PM Still waiting on my cover... :tears:
CATitan 08-31-2005, 01:23 AM Mine shipped on the 24th and I got it today 30th so 6 days from ND to CA.
The Install:
The bed lip on the titan is really thin used a washer on the rear-mounts little stronger. Couldn't use the front factory holes too close to the top of the bed. "No clearence for the well nut" so I drilled one a little lower fits like a glove.
Anyone use the spacers? Besides the mounting holes in front everything else lined up perfect. Opens and closes like butter. Looks nice don't even have to worry about my first dent retrax took care of that.
Total Install Time: 2hrs including a trip to the hardware store (missing parts) and dinner. Didn't drill the drain holes yet got 2 months before it rains.
05 Titan LE 4x2 Crew Cab Tow
trucks4me 08-31-2005, 07:39 AM i got mine but didnt install it yet probable tonight.
bobby
I installed mine this morning. I really like it.
The tailgate gasket still needs to be installed along with the drain tubes and a little adjusting on the passenger side to pull the rail flush. It just got too hot this morning to finish.
Jackalope 09-01-2005, 01:47 AM I got mine today and installed it. Went on easy
I did not get the tailgate gasket. I guess I will have to call tomarrow.
Love it but it takes up about 1 foot next to the cab. I hope I get better milage now!
JohnHarden 09-06-2005, 12:50 PM I'm leaning heavily towards the Retrax cover for my 05, CC with Utilitrack. Anyone of you with a CC got some pics you could post? I read the comment that it takes up about a foot near the cab. I'm really interested in seeing how it fits up and how much usable space it takes away from my already short bed.
Are there holes that need to be drilled in the bed or rails to install? I heard that you should drill holes in the bed to run the drain tubes. How does this work?
Any advice and pics would be most appreciated.
Regards,
John
jerseyparts 09-06-2005, 07:14 PM Yes and Yes, It takes up about 10" from the front of the bed (after the cab) and yes you need to drill 6 holes, 2 1/2 holes to run drain tubes, and 4 3/16 around bed lip (unseen) to mount rails to bed.

John I'll post some picks I have an 05 CC LE too. yea it takes about a foot or less but it doesn't run all the way to the bed floor so things like plywood still slide underneath. So far for me after a week of using it I'd give it an 8 out of 10. Only thing I've had a problem with is the utility track rope cleats on the drivers side of the bed are hitting the bed lock as it slides back and forth. But, I should be able to fix with some tweaking when I get the time. I haven't drilled the drain wholes yet I'll probably drain out the front bed wall.
JohnHarden 09-08-2005, 10:38 AM Thanks for the replies. I'm definitely interested in seeing pics of how it goes on, how it looks and how much room it takes up. How sturdy is it? I know it's not meant to stand on, but will it hold up well and is it pretty secure? I intend to store quite a bit of off road stuff strapped down in the bed of the truck and I'd like to know it isn't going to walk off.
I suppose I can spare the 10 inches or so as it will remain closed most of the time. I also like that it doesn't extend all the way to the floor as I do carry plywood and other materials from time to time.
Thanks again!!
CATitan 09-11-2005, 01:01 AM Ok here are some pic's of the cover.
Still having some problems with the side utility rails and the cover maybe they sent me the wrong rails? Cover fits will rail but its useless with tie downs and the bed extender is a ***** to tighten up. I tried using smaller spacers but then the cover won't roll. If these are the right rails piss poor design. Take a 1/4" of each side then I'd be a happy camper. This is on brand new 05 Titan CC LE 2x4.
jerseyparts 09-11-2005, 10:30 PM They are supposed to send you a set of washers that you put on the screw of the handle, and it will push your handle out far enough to clear the retrax..
CATitan 09-12-2005, 03:17 AM They are supposed to send you a set of washers that you put on the screw of the handle, and it will push your handle out far enough to clear the retrax..
Nope didn't get the washers and yea that was a thought but kinda of a half *** work around but if thats the fix I'll washer up. Do you know the tie down work around so the cover lock doesn't hit it? So far I have to loosen the tie down all the way to get the cover to roll past it. or remember that the lock is going to hit so I can hold it part way closed as I move it past the tie down.

I guess that I will also go out and get some washers because I have trouble with the handles hitting as well. And No I did not get the washers. I don't use the tie downs with the cover closed so I don’t have that problem.
One thing to note is that my cover has a "ripple" near the back. When you look at it is very noticeable. The cover is not flat. I love the design and customer service but as far as quality control I would have to give them an "F". The good part is that they take care of any problems!
All that said... I have looked at other covers and the Retrax is the best design and I would not have purchased a different cover.
jojo4x4 09-19-2005, 09:00 PM Wasnt able to get in on the buy, other than missing parts, etc. What is the consensus do you guys like the Retrax bed cover?
Jackalope 09-21-2005, 11:24 AM Wasnt able to get in on the buy, other than missing parts, etc. What is the consensus do you guys like the Retrax bed cover?
Love it! Way better then a hard top... I could see that a couple of days ago when I was picking up something bigger than would fit under the cover. There was a guy with a Ford F150 with a hard top that had to remove it so that he could load... he was asking if he could leave the top there and come back to pick it up later.
Then he looks over and sees me roll back the top and said "Ive got to get one like that!"
jerseyparts 09-21-2005, 11:30 AM By the way guys, everyone who ordered a Retrax and did not get the rubber protective cover for thie rlock, Retrax has shipped them, apparently they were backordere dat the time of shipping, so they shipped them out when they came in, JUST so you know...
I apologize for this, and was not made aware of this until I got the bill for the retraxs....
Touch2much 10-05-2005, 01:18 AM Got my cover installed a few weeks back...IT'S AWESOME! Very well engineered, one finger open and close is just too cool. Thanks to Jerseyparts for putting the buy together. I've purchased several other parts from him, great prices and great service, thanks again.
Did anyone else find out that the additional tailgate seal doesn't fill in the gap at all between the gate and bed?
jerseyparts 10-05-2005, 09:44 AM Hey Thanks, always a pleasure to please a customer. I am really high on retrax, they stand behind their stuff, and don't mess around...
