After the plan to sell a new Titan derived from the Dodge Ram 1500 was canned a couple of years ago, Nissan's full-size pickup has remained somewhat in limbo. For the 2011 model year, the Titan will solider on with only minor updates, essentially 4×4 badging added to the tail gate of four-wheel drive models and revised names for trim levels – S, SV and SL in place of the previous (and familiar) XE, SE and LE.
For off-road fans, the Pro 4X will continue unchanged. Other than that, the 2011 will be much like the current Titan, employing just a single engine – a 5.6-liter single overhead cam V8 with 317 horsepower. It's a flex fuel engine with E85 capability and Nissan claims that with it, the Titan can tow up to 9,500 lbs, but the lack of change and options compared with some rivals, especially Ford, Ram and GM, is likely to further hurt sales, which have trailed off considerably in the last few years. Rumors indicate that their might be an all new Titan by 2014, but by then the original will have been on the market for more than a decade with very few changes, which might hurt Nissan's chance to gain new full-size truck customers.

Rossi 07-01-2010, 11:11 AM The magazines are going to tear Nissan apart for another year of the same thing. 2004 to 2011 and counting. Very minor changes through out the years.
This is why I didn't buy another Titan...I've already owned two....wanted something different.
JJJimmy 07-01-2010, 11:31 AM Actually, the tough, consistent look is what finally drove me to a Titan. Ford and Chevy/GMC has changed body styles so many times it makes my head spin. Dodge did update the look of the Ram, but it is still consistent with the previous seven (?) years.
I prefer option and interior upgrades more.
Rossi 07-01-2010, 12:54 PM They need many more options to ever compete. They need a single cab...and a single cab long bed. Different motor options for those that want 6 bangers and fleet vehicles.
Really the options haven't changed much either. There isn't much more now then back in 04.
They don't need drastic body changes but to keep most of the public interested there needs to be changes. Like I've said...I've owned 2 Titans...a 2005 KC and a 2006 CC. I looked at the new trucks....options....you name it...the 2010 is the same truck.
nascarjody 07-01-2010, 01:44 PM Well if the engineers at the nissan rally last weekend take our advice there will be some good changes in the works for the future. They wouldnt release any info but is sounded like a deisel is in the works.
Dubie2003 07-01-2010, 01:46 PM I like the look of the Titan and that it doesn't the 04 don't look old when compared to the '10s. I think this should help with its resale and appeal to people.
The one thing the Titan and Frontier need are motor options. If Nissan offered a 4 banger diesel in the Frontier and a 6banger diesel in the Titan, they would be golden. Then a regular cab option for fleet vehicles would be the icing on the cake.
Hopefully in 2014 there will be more options to draw in more people.
crawler 07-01-2010, 11:29 PM I'm not planing on buying a new truck for at least 5 more years so who knows what choices I'll have then as for now even though some are bored with current design I still think it is a very competitive truck and I think Nissan may surprise us with the 400 horse motor out of the new qx 56 before 2014
VK56DEHAN 07-01-2010, 11:55 PM most manufacturers i would say keep a body style for an average of 8-10yrs. as far as looks goes and whats killing the Titan is that they are off timing with the big 3. when say, GM changes the Silverado body style...the other 2 follow along suit to compete and keep their crowd interested. Nissan didnt do this and really couldnt too much considering the limited amount of years they had in all aspects of the full size market. 2014 sounds like a good year for a new one to me. Single cab and long beds combos are a def must have for reasons pointed out earlier.
NOW...the body style could have stayed the exact same if they would have had more than 1 drive train option by mid to late 05, and not been hurt because of it. V6 gas option, I6 or V6 diesel options, M/T and A/T options(both 5 and 6 spd preferably), and obviously the VK56 option, and a mixture of those options that would suit Nissan financially would be perfect. IMO
HudsonValleyTitan 07-02-2010, 12:15 AM Same truck (basically) from 2004 to 2010. It's still the best 1/2 ton truck out there. Just go drive the new ones. The new Dodge is the only one I can say comes close IMO.

kinda off topic but not really...a brand new f150 pulled up next to me and im sorry, but that motor sounded ugly. besides the injectors at idle i think our trucks sound the best.

Look at the current F-150 it came out when the Titan did in 04, in 09 the changed up the grill and headlights and added a six speed, other then that its as old as the Titan. 2013-2014 is going to be a big year for trucks as all the manufacturers are coming out with all new models.
