I have a Dad that I just met about a year ago. He does not have a lot of money, and lives a good distance away. He is all happy about a 1988 Pontiac Bonneville that he just picked up with 42,000 miles. I decided to spend a small amount and get him a Christmas present. He has mentioned the only thing he does not like about the car is there is no cassette, or cd player, just radio. Can anybody tell me how I would go about finding a install kit for a car that old, or where to look for a radio that would just fit it?

go to best buy, they have dash kits for just about everything out there. my friend has one of those cars and thats were he got his, only 15-20 bucks. they also have some very good deals on cd players, I bought a cd player there for my 2000 ford work van, it was an Awia and cost $109. Cassette players are even cheaper, around $60 and up. you'll also need a wiring harness for the car to plug into the cd player.
hope that helped

BiXLL, you can also check at Radio Shack. Lots of installation kits there as well. Online, you can go to www.crutchfield.com (another link in our links). Lots of good information there, too.
Best Buy is great if you are wanting something like that. I actually had an Aiwa CD Mp3 player in my Dodge and really liked it. It did the job just great and they are priced low. And like Firecracker said you can get anything at www.crutchfield.com for any car. good luck
