WOndering if anyone else has problems with a dealer installed XM radio cutting in an out quite often? Had XM in my Tahoe and in my wife's suburban and the only time they lose the signal is in the garage. Is there anything that can be done to fix this problem?

we have a factory installed XM in our Suburban and it too cuts out in the garage. I just chalked it up to the fact that the antennae is covered up in our garage.

Anyone know best and cheapest way to add XM in my new Titan?

thanks
Don

I would contact XM technical support to report your problem and see if they can offer any advice.
Where is your antenna located?
This is what my antenna looks like:

My antenna is located at the top of the windshield on the passenger side, I wondered if the fact that Chevy mounts them on the roof had something to do with the performance being better.

Satellite of any kind is a line of sight technology. In short, something comes between you and the signal, it drops out. It should drop out in your garage.....

Now that said, I am shocked that the system does not employ a read ahead of about 10 seconds like most of the anti-skip cd players do. Technology exists, would avert almost all road dropout issues. Overpasses are my chief complaint. In our area the reception can be very choppy because of the large number of overpasses on I-95. Backroads with Trees and cities with tall buildings can be an issue also.

I found a service bulletin for Armada on line that showed the proper way to install the XM antenna and it turns out they put mine in upside down so I guess I will take her back to Nissan and see if that fixes it.

I've had XM Radio for over a year now (as an aftermarket unit in my old truck, and now in my Titan). XM Radio (and Sirius for that matter) need a direct line of site to the satellite. When you are in a garage, under a bridge or even downtown next to high rise building you will lose your signal. Nothing you can do about it, it's how the satellite technology works. It is annoying at times, but is a minor trade off to have tunes, sports, comedy and news even out in the boonies. :)

My truck has the post antenna mounted to the rear window. Does anyone have this one?

My 3 month trial never programmed properly in the receiver, and the dealer said everything is working fine. only channel 1 and 297 worked though

After the 3 months, channel 2 started working and said my subscription has expired.

Any advice on what to do? I could subscribe, then complain again when it doesnt work, but I'd rather like my 3 months free to see if i want to subscirbe.

My antenna was installed on the rear window. I called XM radio to activate my 3 free months. I receive all the stations, the only problem I have is when I drive on one particular road I loose the signal for about 5 seconds. Other than that it sounds great.
