: custom titan subwoofer box with 4 8in woofers
hey guys whats up,just wanted to show you guys my custom fiberglassed box that was made for my titan last week. this set up is so loud,it hits extremly hard! i had 2 downfiring 10in audiobahn pro compression subs in a sealed box before,but they sound quality doesnt compare to this. it was pricey but well worth it,im running a alphasonik 800d which produces 1640 rms in 1 channel at 1ohm. the subs are made by crystal which i never heard before till i bought them,theses were the only subs capable of handling 400rms. check out the pic, let me know what you guys think 8)
littlebuddha19 09-14-2005, 06:09 PM 400 rms @ 1 ohm.
Holy crap that must feel great.
Good Job
I plan on taking out my 2 12's and replacing them with 5 8's.
:thumbsup:
littlebuddha19 09-14-2005, 06:12 PM Can you take a side pic? Does the box go all the way to the rear? If I remember correcly 8's only need around .65 cft. of air space.

I would need cages around those to keep the kid's heels out of them!
NKTITAN711 09-14-2005, 06:24 PM DADDY LIKE!!! I wish it was possible to post SOUND clips to do that thing justice!!! Do you have the blueprint for your box? What did the 8's cost you? I have never heard of them.
400 rms @ 1 ohm.

THATS 400RMS PER SUB,1600 RMS TOTAL. I DONT THINK YOU CAN FIT 5 8'S. IM THINKING ABOUT EVEN PUTTING 2 MORE 8'S UNDER THE FRONT SEATS TO MAKE IT A TOTAL OF 6 8'S :happy:

THE BOX IS NOT CHAMBERED,ITS 1 BIG BOX,THE TRICK IS IF YOUR RUNNING ONLY ONE AMP YOU DONT HAVE TO CHAMBER IT.IT WAS ALSO STUFFED WITH POLY FILL TO MAKE THEM LOUDER AND MORE ACCURATE. THE BOX GOES ALL THE WAY BACK,IT WAS FIBERGLASSED AND MOLDED TO GET MAXIMUM AIR SPACE BECAUSE TITANS ARE PRETTY TIGHT ON SPACE

NO I DONT HAVE THE BLUE PRINTS OF THE BOX, THE 8'S COST 120 EACH

IM NOT TO WORRIED,I'VE ONLY HAD IT FOR A WEEK AND IF SOMEONE DOES RIDE IN THE BACK I GIVE THEM A WARNING TO BE CAREFUL. THE SPEAKERS ARE TUCKED IN PRETTY GOOD AND DONT STICK OUT OF THE SEAT. I WILL BE PUTTING SOME GRILLES ON LATER DOWN THE ROAD, I WAS THINKING OF PUTTING THE KICKER GRILLES ON THEM. I KNOW SOME DAY SOME ONE IS GONNA SCREW ONE UP.
SaltyDog 09-14-2005, 09:04 PM GREAT DAY IN THE MORNIN' SON.You will going to the hearing doctor soon but if I were to go def that definetly be the coolest way to go.

CONCERT IS IN MY TRUCK :D IT SOUNDS MORE THAN GOOD IT IS AWESOME!!! IM GONNA TAKE A DECIBLE READING TO SEE HOW LOUD IT GETS IN THE CAB AND OUTSIDE, IM GONNA SEE IF I CAN GET MY FRIEND TO DO IT SINCE HE HAS ONE. IM JUST CURIOUS TO SEE HOW LOUD THE READING WOULD BE :D
rcantu 09-15-2005, 01:11 AM it's gonna read pretty loud cause those Crytals put out some really output. Those are made by TC Sounds I believe which build for a lot of names out there like Eclipse, Soundsplinter and some other names I can't recollect.
here's a test a few car audio enthuisiast did for 8 in subs

Blue_Water_Rush 09-15-2005, 04:28 PM THATS 400RMS PER SUB,1600 RMS TOTAL.
That is insane!! I can't imagine that kind of power. I just got my drivers installed in my home-made box. I have a "how to" post with all the plans. I went with a down-firing design with air escape clearances on all 4 corners of each sealed enclosure, and it sounds damn good. It actually feels like bass is coming out of the dash, as well as the whole cab. I have 2 JL 8w3s @ 4 ohms and a JL 250/1 amp. For me it thumps pretty good, for you its probably just a toy. I'm a happy camper, though.

I PRETTY MUCH WANTED TO DO SOMETHING THAT I HADNT SEEN BEFORE ON A TITAN, I LOVE BASS!!! THE MORE I CAN GET THE BETTER. SO I TALKED TO A COUPLE OF BUDDIES AND WE CAME UP WITH THIS DESIGN AND HAD IT CUSTOM FABRICATED. IM TOTALLY AMAZED THAT 4 LIL 8'S HIT THIS HARD. JL ARE VERY GOOD SUBS,AND HANDLE PLENTY OF POWER.THATS COOL YOU BUILT YOUR OWN BOX,IF I HAD THE TOOLS AND THE KNOWLEDGE I WOULD HAVE TRIED IT BUT UNFORTUNATLY I DONT. :D I DID ALL THE WIRING THOUGH, THATS THE LEAST I CAN DO SO SAVE ME SOME CASH

5 8" subs won't work, unless you have 5 amplifiers. Crystal Audio makes very good woofers. About 5 years ago they were crap, but now they're good. If you like the brand, you should look into their component speakers. They're pretty bad a$$. They're not my first choice, but sound very good.

Huh? You can easily run 5 8" subs on one mono amplifier with the right subs, ohms rating, wattage rating and enclosure.
* 5 x 8" Single Voice Coil 8 ohm subwoofer(s)
* Wired in Parallel to reduces ohms load
* Class D Mono Amplifier (1000 watts @ 1 ohm)
* Amplifier load = 1.185 ohms
* Sealed/Single chamber Sub Box
Plenty of power to move five 150watt or 200watt 8" subwoofers :)
kytitan 09-18-2005, 05:13 PM Looks nice.

Still not 1 ohm, but I hear ya. :wink:
hurricanefan1 09-20-2005, 11:58 PM Hmmm I see I am not the only one who went that route with the 4 8's.

HOW DO YOU LIKE THE 4 8'S! DOES IT HIT HARD OR WHAT?
hurricanefan1 09-21-2005, 11:21 PM They sound really good, and everyone who has heard my truck prior to looking in always think I have a cut thru in the bed of the truck, then I get the 8O when I show them it's just 4 8's. I need to start carrying a camera for every time I get that look LOL.
StriKing_Cobra 09-22-2005, 08:10 AM Very nice setup! I bet that sounds super clean. Mine's pretty darn clean and loud too. I'd much rather go deaf listening to a great sounding stereo than a crappy one :mrgreen:
